Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 973: Chapter 552: Survivor from 30 Years Ago

”However, you don’t need to worry too much.” The woman’s tense expression relaxed again as she smiled, ”Everyone here has undergone the initiation, but so far, I haven’t heard of anyone turning into a monster covered in fur, so there’s no need for you to be overly concerned.”

”I see...” Shi Wanyun breathed a slight sigh of relief.

But she still felt slightly uncomfortable.

Restricting people here in this way, that so-called ”Master” is definitely not someone easy to deal with.

”So, now can you tell me how you got here?”

Shi Wanyun hesitated for a moment, then decided to tell the truth.

But only half of the truth.

”Here’s the thing...”

She recounted her experience of being forcibly transported here, telling the woman in front of her everything.

”I’m actually not a match for those advanced mutant creatures outside, as you can see. I got here relying on a stroke of luck and the help from the strongest among our batch of survivors.”

”Oh? The strongest survivor?” The woman showed some interest, ”In my view, your strength is already quite impressive; if you were among the earlier batches of survivors, you would likely have been the strongest.”

”...I don’t understand much about you early survivors, but in my batch, there are indeed many who are stronger than me.” Shi Wanyun remarked, ”If it weren’t for them giving me Healing Medicine, I wouldn’t have made it this far.”

”Healing Medicine?” The woman paused slightly, then seemed to think of something. She brushed her waist, a purple-black light flashed, and a backpack appeared in her hand, which she then handed to her, ”Your belongings.”

”...Have you already examined the contents of the backpack?” Shi Wanyun asked softly as she took the backpack.

”Yes, not just me, 228 who brought you up here checked it first too,” the woman said, ”But I didn’t find any healing medicine in it.”

”That’s only natural because I’ve already used it all.” Shi Wanyun softly explained, ”I’ve suffered three fatal injuries at the hands of those advanced mutant creatures. Without the Healing Medicine they provided, I wouldn’t have been able to make it here.”

”I see...” The woman nodded, ”That explains why someone with your level of strength could pass through the area below, though your strength is considerable among survivors at the same stage, but it is still far inferior to those mutant creatures below. It didn’t occur to me that among your batch of survivors, there would be someone proficient in medicine... wait.”

She slightly furrowed her brows, ”Fatal injuries... can they really be healed just by taking Healing Medicine?”

”Yes, I don’t understand the principle, but as long as you swallow the pills, the injuries heal rapidly,” Shi Wanyun explained, ”Really miraculous medicine, it took a lot of effort for me to get a few, too bad they’re all used up.”

”Can such a thing truly be made by survivors?” The woman seemed quite surprised, ”Your batch of survivors really exceeded my expectations.”

”...May I ask about my previous clothes?” Shi Wanyun tugged at the clothes she was currently wearing, ”They were already changed when I was brought up.”

When she was brought up, she wore a gown reaching to her ankles, with that being all she had on.

So during the initiation earlier, all 228 had to do was move slightly behind her and her clothes would simply slip off.

Now, the clothes she was wearing seemed much more normal, though it felt empty inside, at least they were more complete.

Yet these weren’t her original clothes.

When she arrived here, she was wearing the purple-level steel armor Xu Xin gave her.

Along with the most important item: the Concealer’s Cloak.

Without that piece of equipment, she wouldn’t have been able to traverse the terrifying area below to get here.

Though this place doesn’t seem much more normal than below...

”Ah, your clothes, those purple-grade armor pieces?”

Speaking of her armor, the woman sighed, ”Your equipment was what surprised me the most; your batch shouldn’t have been here long, yet already possesses purple-grade metal armor, and it’s steel no less.”

”Where is that set of armor now?” Shi Wanyun asked.

”What, you still want it? It’s already tattered, what use could it be?”

”...That’s purple-grade armor,” Shi Wanyun replied softly.

Moreover, it wasn’t very damaged, was it? Although there were a few scars, it could still be used once repaired.

The woman laughed, shaking her head, ”There’s no need to be so frugal. Although purple-grade armor is indeed rare for you, it’s not scarce here. You can have it, of course, given you can prove your value.”

Shi Wanyun slightly raised her eyes.

This place isn’t lacking purple-grade resources?

Of course, the people here are early survivors, each having made it to the end and lived in this world for several decades, purple-grade armor and weapons may really be nothing to them.

For them, the purple-grade steel armor she’s wearing might just be a normal set of worn-out armor anyone could afford to wear.
