Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 958: Chapter 547: Shouldn’t I Be the Senior...?

Li Wenxi was leaning against the window ledge, staring out in boredom.

This was undoubtedly the most bustling city in the human base, with streets teeming with cars and a constant flow of people, making her spirit feel slightly dazed as she watched it all.

It was as if she had returned to the city that gave birth to and raised her.

Of course, this was a city a thousand years later, and there were still some obvious differences compared to Earth’s metropolises a thousand years ago.

For example, the number of floors of the buildings here was generally much higher than those on the surface.

Every skyscraper here boasted a height of over thirty floors.

Thirty floors were considered short, with most buildings having around fifty floors, and there were even quite a number of buildings over a hundred floors.

To know that a few hundred meters was once the height of landmark buildings in a city’s skyline on Earth a thousand years ago, but here, it’s so common that Li Wenxi didn’t find those buildings to be particularly tall at all.

This should be related to the underground environment.

Talking with Xu Ying before, this place was chosen as the most suitable location for survival; it is not situated in a tectonic activity zone and therefore won’t experience natural disasters like earthquakes. The air circulation is gentle and stable, with little change.

This has led to the construction of very tall buildings to accommodate the ever-expanding population here.

Much like Earth a thousand years ago, the people in the city seemed to live in cages.

She looked again at the two statues.

Although the statues were located in the busiest area of the city center, the buildings around them were the shortest in the entire city.

The statues were only a hundred meters tall, and the surrounding buildings were all lower than the statues, with none exceeding thirty floors.

And moving outward from the statues at the city’s core, the building heights showed a clear stepwise increase, reaching a peak about two kilometers away, where buildings nearly reached heights of three to four hundred meters.

There were even three buildings reaching seven to eight hundred meters!

To know that the Burj Khalifa, Earth’s tallest building a thousand years ago, was about this height, while the second tallest building was directly reduced to the five hundred meter level.

Yet this city had three such level buildings, forming a triangular trend surrounding those two statues.

On these three towers, it seemed to house some of the highest status individuals in this city...

From the location of these three high towers further outward, the building height gradually decreased again.

Near the villa where she was, it was already at the outermost area of the city, where most of the buildings were very low.

Compared to the cluster of thirty to forty-story buildings in the city center, most buildings here were under ten stories, and they seemed aged, as if they had gone through renovations.

”Hmm... Is this the old town?” Li Wenxi looked down from outside.

Perhaps this was the precise location of human settlements established a thousand years ago, but over a millennium of development, the city center had shifted to the vicinity of the statues a few kilometers away.

In comparison, the location of the villa she was in was a bit unique.

From some perspective, this villa was quite luxurious, standing out distinctly from other regions at a glance.

Even to someone like her, who came from a thousand years ago, the layout and appearance of this villa felt somewhat vintage.

This villa might have been here for a very long time.

As for why she could see the entire city from a low villa...

That was because the villa was built on elevated ground.

The whole villa was established on a protruding mountain peak, which was not very high, about one to two hundred meters, not higher than many buildings in the city, but high enough to overlook the entire city.

Though called a peak, the summit area was considerable, some tens of thousands of square meters, as if the entire mountaintop had been directly leveled off.

And on this mountain top, there was only this one villa, with no one else around.

Because the mountain’s position was already close to the city outskirts, the buildings became sparse, and coupled with the fact that around the mountain were basically ten or so stories, a few stories, or even low-rise, old buildings, none as tall as this mountain, her position became the highest point around.

”What place is this exactly?”

Li Wenxi, somewhat bored, returned to her bed, lying down and muttering as she stared at the chandelier on the ceiling, ”I really want to go out to see, really want to interact with people here...”

What kind of personality would a person who has never seen sunlight have?

Do they really not yearn for sunlight?

However, after what happened just now, she did not dare to go out before Xu Ying returned.

”Hurry back...”

Li Wenxi turned over and lay on her stomach on the bed, burying her head into the soft pillow with a hint of mint fragrance, muttering, ”I would like to bring Xu Xin over to see too. He probably doesn’t know there’s even a statue of him here...”

”No, no, he brought the Crystal City to the surface, so he should know too...”

”But, seeing it in person is far more overwhelming, I really want to bring everyone over...”

She didn’t know how long she laid there and was about to fall asleep when a strange sound echoed in the room.

She knew this sound too well.

It was the sound of a portal forming!

She immediately turned her head and saw a purple-black vortex, about human-sized, appearing on the wall.
