Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 955: Chapter 546: What Kind of Monster Is This Girl!

Shi Wanyun recalled the situation at that time.

”The equipment you gave me was indeed very useful, that invisibility cloak really helped me a lot. With that equipment, I easily made it to the crown of that World Tree.”

”...You mean, that towering giant tree was also a World Tree?” Xu Xin asked.

”Yes, that was also a World Tree, there’s no doubt about it.” Shi Wanyun nodded, ”Because the first time I encountered the term ’World Tree’, it was on that tree.”

Was that tree also a World Tree?

Xu Xin grew increasingly curious about what their World Tree would look like once it fully matured.

”Let me continue,” Shi Wanyun got up from the bed, walked to the window, and looked out at the World Tree whose crown had already covered a vast area.

”That giant tree was similar to this one, its crown was incredibly lush and covered a large area. So, even though I had reached the crown, I was still some distance from the trunk.”

”However, at that moment, I started to feel that something was amiss.”

...

At that time, Shi Wanyun was in a state of high mental tension.

She constantly monitored the movements of all the high-level mutated creatures around her. As soon as she sensed them observing her, she would immediately halt her actions while wearing the invisibility cloak.

But, as soon as she reached the area beneath the crown, she noticed a clear change in the atmosphere.

In the large area beneath the crown, there were still many high-level mutated creatures moving freely, and from their appearance, the blood patterns on their bodies were more pronounced, and their pupils were almost entirely consumed by a blood-red color.

Clearly, the closer she got to the giant tree, the stronger the mutated creatures became.

Yet...

For some unknown reason, as soon as she entered this area, she felt that the surrounding mutated creatures no longer cared about her presence.

Since entering this area, she hadn’t been noticed by the mutated creatures, moving smoothly without any hindrance.

After advancing a certain distance, she became almost certain of this speculation, so she quickened her pace to test it out.

Her rapid movements did attract the attention of the surrounding mutated creatures, as an animal about three meters high, resembling a carnivorous small dinosaur, turned its head to look at her.

Its blood-red eyes and sharp, jagged fangs, along with the dizzying red patterns on its body, made her heart tighten.

Fortunately, her speculation was correct.

Even though the small dinosaur looked at her and noticed her, it had no intention of attacking.

It even tilted its large head slightly, opened its mouth full of sharp teeth slightly, making a sound that seemed both questioning and welcoming, then turned away as if losing interest in her.

This scene made Shi Wanyun break into a cold sweat, but also let her breathe a sigh of relief.

After testing a few more times and confirming that the mutated creatures in this area posed no threat and even showed friendliness towards her, she gradually relaxed and continued toward the towering giant tree’s roots.

As she got closer to the roots, the ground vegetation became sparser, replaced by roots hanging down from the giant tree’s crown, standing clustered like a bamboo forest in the area.

These roots dangled straight down, with the thinnest as thick as a person’s arm and the thickest as wide as a person’s waist, forming a peculiar jungle-like landscape.

Of course, there were also some high-level mutated creatures among them.

But the mutated creatures she encountered here not only lacked hostility and demonstrated friendliness, they could even communicate simply with her.

During her progress, a giant deer standing at least four meters tall came to her side, lowered its massive head, and examined her with its blood-red eyes.

Shi Wanyun, being weak in strength herself, naturally couldn’t possibly stand against these mutated creatures whose levels were unknown.

She didn’t dare to walk away rashly, fearing that the creature might consider it impolite and attack her.

Tentatively, she reached out to caress the giant deer head.

The fur on the deer’s head was very short but covered in vibrant blood-red patterns.

The short fur looked firm, but felt soft and warm to the touch.

The mutated deer didn’t reject Shi Wanyun’s touch, and even closed its eyes to enjoy the sensation.

Shi Wanyun’s lips curled upwards slightly.

Her contracted mount was a deer, so she felt a certain closeness and familiarity with deer.

Seeing the giant mutated deer displaying such friendliness, she ventured to speak: ”I want to go to the tree root house. Is there any danger ahead?”

With the intelligence of high-level mutated creatures, communication should be relatively straightforward, right?

The deer opened its eyes, slightly turned its head to glance at the Banyan tree roots, then shook its head at her.

Those magnificent antlers swayed, making one want to touch them.

”You mean, there is no danger?” Shi Wanyun felt a slight joy in her heart and asked softly.

The mutated deer nodded slightly, then looked at the tree root house again and then at Shi Wanyun. Afterwards...

It squatted down in front of Shi Wanyun, its massive deer head motioning backward.

”You...” Shi Wanyun looked at the deer in surprise, ”You want to take me there?”

The deer’s intention was clear, inviting Shi Wanyun to ride on its back.

The deer nodded once more.

Shi Wanyun took a deep breath and made her decision: ”Alright.”

Having such a giant deer escort her through the final stretch was the best scenario.
