Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 981: Chapter 554: The Reason for Xu Ying’s Existence (3)

”Ah, that’s right!”

Xu Ying kicked a large stone by the roadside, and with a ”crack”, her seemingly fragile foot directly kicked a big hole and a crack into the stone.

She said angrily, ”Only after he vanished did I realize that he kept me from truly getting involved in these matters, likely because he feared I’d be affected by them. Damn big brother, if you’re leaving, just leave yourself! Leave me here alone...”

Li Wenxi was silent for a moment, then spoke, ”Maybe he... just wanted you to witness this planet being saved.”

”...Hmph, he just wanted to leave a mess for me.”

Though Xu Ying said this, her eyes were already a bit red.

Li Wenxi could understand her feelings.

Her real brother, the real familiar person, had already completely disappeared from this world.

Even though she now calls herself sister-in-law and calls Xu Xin brother, they aren’t the two who accompanied her through hundreds of years.

Even the man who traveled with her fifty years ago aged instantly by over fifty years after time travel, changing so much that he’s practically a stranger now.

Now, she truly faces the entire world all alone.

To display such a lively and optimistic image in these circumstances, she’s really quite remarkable.

Thinking of this, Li Wenxi suddenly recalled something.

Xu Ying once mentioned her relationship with Wei Bai was so good it made her brother a bit jealous.

That means, fifty years ago at that point in time, Xu Xin was still alive!

According to Xu Xin, he vanished at that point in time!

And Xu Ying only came from that point in time a few days ago through time travel.

So, for Xu Ying, her brother actually just disappeared not long ago...

She actually only lost her last relative not long ago.

This is really...

But speaking of which, that point fifty years ago indeed witnessed many events.

The Crystal City above ground was probably built at that time too?

The first survivors also appeared shortly after that.

...It seems Xu Ying must have done many things at that time, rather than just traveling around various cities as she said.

However, she doesn’t want to tell me yet.

”Alright, alright, let’s not talk about this!” Xu Ying shook her head, feeling like she might cry if she kept on talking.

”Yingying...”

”You don’t need to pity me, I’m not afraid of dying! If I die, I can go find my brother, and my old acquaintances!”

Xu Ying rubbed her eyes, looked up and said, ”But now, that damn big brother left this mess for me, so I’ll try a little harder, no sleeping, let’s go find another place!”

”Mm, okay.”

Xu Ying grabbed Li Wenxi’s arm: ”Let’s go, sister-in-law, I’ll take you... hmm?”

She suddenly stopped, her gaze directed toward the depths of the wilderness.

”What’s wrong?” Li Wenxi followed her gaze.

The weed-filled forest, even in the bright underground environment, couldn’t be seen clearly inside.

”Is there something over there?” Li Wenxi asked.

”...Did I feel it wrong?” Xu Ying stared fiercely at the grove, muttering to herself, ”Why would there be... wait... just now that scent of red fruit...”

A glimmer flashed in her eyes: ”No, I need to go check it out! Sister-in-law, I’ll send you back first!”

”Ah? What...” Li Wenxi didn’t have time to inquire further as a purple-black vortex appeared beneath her feet.

She instantly fell into the vortex.

When she reopened her eyes, she was already in the villa.

...What just happened?

What did Xu Ying see?
