Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 976: Chapter 553: Are Blue-Grade Fruits Slow-Acting Poison?

”Here we are.”

Li Wenxi looked up toward the sky.

”Directly above here is the location of the metal mine I mentioned.”

Beside her, Xu Ying and Wei Shishi also looked up.

The elderly Wei Bai had just received some communication and left hurriedly with a somewhat serious expression, not knowing what it was about.

Before leaving, he had asked Wei Shishi to stay behind and coordinate with Li Wenxi and the others.

”Here, huh...” Wei Shishi glanced around, her expression relaxing slightly. ”There aren’t many people around here, no residential areas, which saves us a lot of trouble. When we start mining, we just need to designate this area below as a restricted dangerous zone.”

Xu Ying lowered her head and rubbed her neck: ”Ah, I’m getting old, my neck hurts if I look up for too long. Listen, young lady, you should show some respect to your seniors.”

She directed this comment at Wei Shishi.

For some reason, Wei Shishi hadn’t been giving her a good face throughout the journey, always looking stern as if Xu Ying owed her money.

”Getting old?” Wei Shishi glanced at her, ”You’re just capable of time travel, right? Your actual age isn’t much different from mine.”

Xu Ying spread her hands, displaying an expression of helplessness: ”I tell you, the confidence of young people these days is truly mysterious.”

”Are you... already over forty, an aunt?” Wei Shishi turned to look at her.

”...Who are you calling an aunt!” Xu Ying snapped, glaring.

Though she had lived for a long time, she was always like the little sister in her team back then.

Most of the people in her team back then didn’t have descendants, after all, in such a precarious environment, having children wasn’t a wise decision.

Moreover, the lifespans of people in the team were exceptionally long, so most of them had no intention of having children to continue their lineage.

So, who ever called her an aunt!

Of course, this didn’t mean there were few new generations born back then, quite the contrary.

The vast majority of the new generation at that time were born to those who had completely sided with the alien invaders.

They had gained relatively stable lives and thus the ability to raise offspring.

Fortunately, their offspring weren’t as thoroughly brainwashed as they were, didn’t hold a fanatical worship and aspiration for the alien invaders.

They had their own thoughts, and even though most were indoctrinated from a young age to be loyal to the invaders, you know young people, they have a rebellious spirit.

After discovering the truth of the past, a considerable number chose to join the resistance.

The first step of the plan to return to the past was executed with their help.

”Who are you talking to?” Wei Shishi gave her a sidelong glance, ”What qualifications does someone who relies on time travel to play tricks have to be called a senior by me?”

In her mind, when Xu Ying had met her grandfather, they were supposedly the same age.

Then Xu Ying immediately traveled through time to the present, implying that her current age should be in the twenties.

Even her grandfather Wei Bai thought so.

”I...” Xu Ying was at a loss for words.

She didn’t want to reveal her identity.

Her identity was a major loophole in this world, the fewer who knew, the better. Too many people knowing and having the world notice the anomaly could lead to her being erased like her brother was.

But this girl in front of her was really quite infuriating!

What was this about, why was she so hostile towards her!

Don’t get angry, don’t get angry, Xu Ying, you are over three hundred years old, why get angry with a twenty-something brat.

”Hey, could you two not argue, can’t we just get along?” Li Wenxi said a bit helplessly.

She herself had a very lively personality too, but since arriving in this world, she had always been suppressing her curiosity, being unfamiliar with the world and no longer as wilful.

These two didn’t know how many bickering spats they had during the journey.

In front of these two, she always felt like she was playing the role of the understanding big sister.

”Hmph, who wants to get along with her.” Wei Shishi snorted softly.

”You, you...” Xu Ying clenched her teeth, getting angrier the more she thought about it.

Wei Shishi turned to Li Wenxi, her tone becoming much more normal: ”I’ve noted this location, are there any other sites around?”

”For now, this is the only one I’ve found. I haven’t had a chance to fully check the surroundings,” Li Wenxi said.

”Alright, take this.”

Wei Shishi took a small device out of her pocket and handed it to Li Wenxi.

”This is...”

Li Wenxi curiously examined the small device in her hand.

An earpiece?

”Put it in your ear, and by tapping three times you can contact me directly. The communication channel is encrypted, no need to worry about eavesdropping,” Wei Shishi explained. ”If you find new sites, or if there’s any trouble, you can contact me anytime.”

”Ah, such a nice gadget!” Li Wenxi said in surprise, delighted. ”Then I’ll take it!”

”Hey, what about mine?” Xu Ying glared at Wei Shishi.

”You? Aren’t you supposed to be very capable? Do you still need our help?” Wei Shishi’s tone instantly turned cold.

”I...”

Wei Shishi turned back to Li Wenxi, her voice once again calm: ”If you’re not satisfied with the accommodation this woman provided, or if you encounter any danger here, feel free to contact us. The Wei Family will always welcome you.”
