Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 956: Chapter 546: What Kind of Monster Is This Girl! (2)

Moreover, she did not dare to refuse this giant deer’s goodwill. Since the deer had already crouched down, who knew if it would suddenly turn hostile if she refused?

The wild deer itself was more than four meters tall, and with the height of its antlers, it could even reach over five meters. Such a massive body, even when crouching down, still maintained a height close to two meters.

However, this naturally did not pose any problem for Shi Wanyun. She gracefully leapt onto the back of this large wild deer.

Once she sat steadily, the deer slowly stood up. Before Shi Wanyun could say anything, it began walking towards the base of the treehouse.

The speed was neither fast nor slow, but for such a massive body, even a walking speed was equivalent to a human’s jogging pace.

Sitting on the deer’s back, Shi Wanyun’s vantage point was much higher than before, and the surroundings more clearly presented themselves to her view.

A human riding on a giant deer was a rare sight in this area, drawing the attention of the surrounding mutated creatures, who had previously shown little interest in her.

Fortunately, there was no hostility, as it seemed to be pure curiosity.

During this final stretch, Shi Wanyun remained silent, and the giant deer did not make any noise or other movements, simply advancing towards the tree’s roots.

Shi Wanyun parted her lips slightly but ultimately said nothing.

She did not know why this giant deer suddenly decided to help her; was it because she stroked it comfortably just now?

Or perhaps...

Did the giant deer know why people like her came here and wanted to help her complete her mission?

Speaking much often leads to mistakes; silence was better.

The towering giant tree grew ever closer. Soon, the deer stopped at a position less than a hundred meters from the tree’s base and then slowly crouched down again.

Shi Wanyun immediately dismounted from the deer’s back.

She looked at the giant tree very close to her.

From a distance, the giant tree’s trunk did appear as though it was heading upwards, but upon getting closer, new discoveries emerged.

This tree was not one of those straight trees growing directly upwards; instead, it was a twisting old tree that, at a glance, had weathered the test of time, with all kinds of bumps and recesses along its trunk, growing spirally upward.

On the ground, part of the giant tree’s roots protruded from the soil, exposing themselves, making the entire ground appear very uneven.

And near the tree trunk, a faint purple-black glow was visible.

However, she could not see how this light was being emitted, as the source was blocked by the rugged terrain and exposed roots.

That purple-black glow...

This ought to be her mission objective, right?

There, it should be the entrance to the teleportation point back to her treehouse!

”Thank you...”

Shi Wanyun turned, wanting to thank the giant deer that had brought her here.

But as she was observing the giant tree, the deer had already quietly walked away.

The speed was much faster than when it arrived; now looking back, she could only barely see its silhouette among the towering, deep green root network.

...Did it really just want to bring her over?

Although a little puzzled, the current situation did not allow her to waste too much time. She immediately turned and headed towards the tree trunk.

A hundred-meter radius around the tree trunk was another unique spectacle.

The closer she got to the trunk, the fewer hanging roots there were, and the more roots exposed from underground. The ground became increasingly uneven.

Approximately forty to fifty meters from the trunk, the hanging roots completely vanished, but the underground roots were relentlessly protruding and exposing themselves.

The rugged ground had reached a point where Shi Wanyun could not move forward without using her hands to climb and support herself.

Besides that, another very noticeable change occurred.

This area contained no mutated creatures.

In fact, from the location where she dismounted from the deer, no living creatures had been present.

This gave her a sense of unease.

Were the mutated creatures not allowed near this giant tree?

Or was there danger here that frightened the surrounding mutated creatures away?

But there was no choice; she still needed to move forward.

The rugged ground always contributed to a sense of crisis, and she once again focused intently as she advanced.

Countless exposed, thick tree roots made the ground rugged. She could only progress by moving on hands and feet.

When she laid her hand on the exposed roots, she didn’t feel cold. Instead, there was a warm sensation, even somewhat comforting.

Despite the rugged ground, there were only about a hundred meters left, and Shi Wanyun quickly arrived at the tree roots, climbing onto the highest protruding root to take a look below.

”This is...”

The location emitting the purple-black glow was not a portal as she imagined, but a Treasure Pearl.

A Treasure Pearl containing purple-black energy.

”...The purple-black treehouse core?”

She glanced around again, noting nothing unusual except for this. No strange glow emanated from anywhere else.

This Treasure Pearl was her mission objective.

For some reason, she just had this feeling.

Thus, she slid down from the highest protruding root, crouched down, and reached out to pick up the Treasure Pearl.
