Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 960: Chapter 547: I’m the Senior Here..._3

But as someone familiar with the human form, doing such bizarre and horrifying things, she couldn’t even make a sound for a moment and instinctively took a step back.

It was the first time she felt her legs go weak from fear.

It wasn’t about how strong the other person was, but a kind of mental impact from a higher dimension.

Is this the uncanny valley effect?

The girl in front of her was definitely a monster!

But she looked too much like a human, almost identical to one; her human body performing those actions would mentally impact anyone!

The girl opposite looked very normal now, even walking towards her very naturally.

Shi Wanyun instinctively took two steps back again, her legs hitting the edge of the bed, and she fell onto it as her legs buckled.

”Oh dear, I’m sorry for scaring you,” the girl said apologetically, ”I really didn’t mean to. But you’ll get used to it. Every time a newcomer arrives, they react like you do. Getting scared here with me is a bit of psychological preparation.”

The girl’s words, and her friendly tone, left Shi Wanyun feeling a bit perplexed.

However, the girl’s friendly demeanor did stabilize her slightly erratic state of mind, and she sneaked a glance at the girl’s neck, which now appeared normal.

But because she had witnessed the previous scene, the current girl seemed like an embodiment of a ghost in her mind.

”Uh, are you... human?” she cautiously asked.

Probably not, right?

Could it be some other species disguised as a human?

... To toy with humans?

”That’s really rude!” the girl replied somewhat displeased. ”Just because I scared you, you think I’m not human? Of course, I’m human!”

Human?

The girl scrutinized her suspiciously: ”You didn’t really come here knowing nothing, did you?”

”...I just said I don’t even know where this place is,” Shi Wanyun explained.

”Really? I thought you were joking...” The girl scratched her head in frustration. ”Ah, what do I do? Did I bring back someone with none of the three essentials?”

Her head wobbled left and right as she scratched it, her neck taking on a grotesquely broken angle, making Shi Wanyun’s eyelids twitch and her jaw clench.

”... What do you mean by ’none of the three essentials’?” Shi Wanyun softly asked. ”Do you need some proof to be here?”

”Oh, it means someone without documents, without a permit, and without special genes. Since you know nothing, you probably are such a person, right?” the girl sighed. ”Honestly, how did you even get in here?”

... Considering the danger of the outside environment, a normal person indeed couldn’t approach.

If she hadn’t sought help from Xu Xin, the strongest in Zone 188, she wouldn’t have made it here.

”I... forced my way through that area outside,” Shi Wanyun decided to tell the truth. After all, that mysterious voice assigned her this task, so it should comply with the regulations here.

”Huh?” The girl was aghast, ”You actually made it through that herd of beasts?! My goodness... You... you’re that strong? I can’t even handle a single one down there, and you can just directly...”

The girl’s gaze towards Shi Wanyun instantly became respectful, with a hint of admiration: ”You’re really strong...”

”...Not that strong, I got through by using some tricks,” Shi Wanyun softly asked, ”Aren’t you... a survivor?”

”Survivor?” The girl paused slightly, ”That’s such an old-fashioned term. It’s been decades since I heard that word. It brings back memories... Wait a minute!”

The girl suddenly looked at her: ”Could it be... you’re a new survivor? Another batch of survivors has arrived!”

Shi Wanyun’s eyes shifted.

The information contained in the previous conversation was already quite clear.

She now knew who this girl was.

... She was actually from the previous batches of survivors!

She inadvertently encountered a survivor from the previous batches!

She’s a pioneer in surviving in this world!

This energized her spirit.

It seems she could learn some secrets about this world!

However...

The girl in front of her had extended her neck from surprise. Her neck appeared once again to an incredible length, her head leaning over slightly wobbling in front of Shi Wanyun’s face.

Her expression was quite normal, looking very much like a curious child.

It’s truly... extremely incongruous.

So...

How did the previous batches of survivors become... a creature with a lengthening neck?
