Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 938: Chapter 540: I Don’t Want to Become a Monster

The conjecture was so reasonable that Xu Xin, Ji Chaoyang, and Lou Fei’Er were at a loss for words for a moment.

Ji Chaoyang’s eyes suddenly moved: ”If the Xu Ying who took Li Wenxi was really that Xu Ying, then the place they’re at now might be...”

Xu Xin made a gesture: ”I guessed this too, we should be careful with our words. Well... when the World Tree truly matures, I will go down to have a look.”

Lou Fei’Er was also lost in thought.

All three of them were intelligent people who could weigh the pros and cons.

”Right now, our goal is to protect this World Tree,” Ji Chaoyang said, looking up at the sky already obscured by the dense canopy, ”Once the World Tree fully matures, we should have the ability to protect ourselves.”

”Yes, by then, I can consider going out to look for them.”

The two didn’t say anything more, nodded to each other, and headed toward their respective treehouses.

”What? Finished talking?” Lou Fei’Er, still deep in thought, hurriedly caught up with Xu Xin’s pace and said, ”When do you plan to go look for them? I want to go too.”

Her voice carried a trace of excitement, clearly suggesting she too had deduced where Li Wenxi might currently be.

The human underground base that had developed over a millennium.

Indeed, it was a place that tantalized the curious, yearning to witness its marvels.

”We’ll gather more people to go together at that time,” Xu Xin said as he walked, ”We can guarantee each other’s safety.”

Now that their team had so many people, only a fool would venture out alone.

The human underground base...

I wonder what humanity has developed into after a thousand years.

Without sunlight as an energy source, how did those humans survive underground?

Of course, being able to develop underground for a millennium, they shouldn’t be lacking resources; they could utilize fossil energy and geothermal energy.

And, perhaps...

Xu Xin paused, looking at the Crystal Palace ahead shining with its milky-white glow.

He looked up again.

This World Tree had grown to an immeasurable height.

The thickness of the entire World Tree’s canopy was not visible from beneath, but even the lowest part of the canopy had reached over fifty meters in height.

Generally, the thickness of a banyan tree’s canopy is greater than the height of the exposed trunk below it, and using this method to calculate, even without seeing it entirely, Xu Xin could roughly guess the height of this banyan tree...

It had already reached or exceeded a hundred meters!

Over a hundred meters high...

About the height of thirty or forty floors.

This height might already surpass the tallest buildings in many third or fourth-tier cities.

Not to mention, the most astonishing feature of a banyan tree isn’t its height, but the area its canopy could cover.

The banyan tree’s canopy now spanned a vast area, covering not only the entire clearing where the Crystal Palace stood but also the circle of crystal structures outside the field.

Under the canopy, aerial roots of the banyan tree had started to droop, which were the roots from the treehouses that could be used to pull people into the houses.

However, the whole area did not appear dim because the banyan tree’s canopy blocked out the sunlight.

It was already 6 PM, and due to the scorching summer that had just passed, the daylight hours were still very long; even at 7 PM, the sun was still on the horizon, and the sunlight was brilliant. Looking at it this way, it might still need to be around 8 PM before it got dark.

When there was no obstruction from the World Tree, the area felt a bit glaring due to the sun reflecting off the milky-white crystal.

But once it was covered, the brightness around it returned to normal, with the glow of the crystal structures illuminating the surroundings.

This light from the crystal structures could affect plant growth, meaning this light, like sunlight, could provide energy for producers.

The humans in the underground world might also access energy through this Crystal Stone.

The likelihood is very high, as this Crystal Stone was discovered along with the giant beast’s genes at the time, and when establishing the human underground habitat, would definitely prioritize considering this energy-releasing Crystal Stone.

Wait, speaking of which, the location of the human base...

”Ying?”

Keke, who had been lying on Xu Xin’s shoulder with eyes closed and was dozing off out of boredom, suddenly let out a sound.

It lifted its head looking at the dense canopy, blinking its eyes.

”What’s wrong Keke?”

”Ying...” Keke tilted its little head.

In the end...

At this moment, Keke suddenly jumped off Xu Xin’s shoulder, and its nimble little body quickly dashed off and disappeared out of sight.

”Hmm? Fei’Er, catch up to him!”

”Ah? Oh!” Lou Fei’Er, who was still sorting through the newly acquired information in her mind, immediately kicked her foot upon hearing Xu Xin, her body becoming a fleeting shadow, disappearing in place, closely following Keke’s trail into disappearance.

With Lou Fei’Er’s speed, she should not lose track of Keke.

He really had to see where this little one intended to go.

Speaking of which, after this incident, the origin of this little fellow was no longer a complete mystery.

At least he could now ascertain that Keke, this little panda, had a tightly bound connection with the Xu Ying whose identity was not yet fully confirmed.

At that time, the crystal Treasure Pearl that recorded Li Wenxi’s voice was snatched from Xu Ying’s hand by Keke.
