Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 908: Chapter 530: Deceived Survivors from Other Zones

”Do you know what happened to people in other areas?” Xu Xin was somewhat surprised, but it was indeed expected.

If this woman is really being controlled by those alien invaders, then it’s very normal for her, as one of their people, to maintain contact with them.

However...

A map appeared in Xu Xin’s mind.

The location of Shi Wanyun was still a green dot, signifying that she’s currently considered one of us.

...What’s going on?

Could it be that even the map can’t be trusted anymore?

”Of course I know. I’m different from others in District 1. Their voices have never stopped in my ears.” Shi Wanyun held her abdomen, sat up from the bed, glanced at Lou Fei’Er, and said softly, ”You’re quite strong.”

Her tone didn’t carry resentment or anger, remaining gentle as always.

”I don’t know how strong you are. If I held back, it would just feel like I’m tickling you.”

Even though Lou Fei’Er had just been pressing down on Shi Wanyun, throwing punches, she now wore a smile, as if the incident wasn’t her doing at all.

”Stop babbling.” Xu Xin said coldly, ”It seems you know a lot, tell us everything you know. Mimi, keep an eye on her.”

Mimi had consumed giant troll meat several times recently and was nearing a high-level mutation. Coupled with being the fastest and most agile land animal on Earth, its burst speed now was probably extremely terrifying.

With it watching Shi Wanyun, Xu Xin felt assured.

”...Let me say upfront, I don’t really know much.” Shi Wanyun pursed her lips and said, ”I’m just a small pawn casually controlled by them. After leaving there, I only received information from them once and then came to your side. I understand the situation about this World Tree siege only because that mysterious voice didn’t block me out.”

”Regarding this matter, I will say everything I know. Don’t force me to reveal more that I don’t know.”

Saying this, she glanced at Lou Fei’Er.

It seemed Lou Fei’Er’s three punches did affect her, prompting her to proactively tell them not to force her before she even started talking.

”Go ahead.”

”...Here’s the situation.”

Shi Wanyun recounted the full message from the mysterious voice.

[Survivors from outside District 188, this is your time to resist.]

[A survivor from District 188 has obtained and planted a special treehouse seed. This seed will grow into a towering tree named the ”World Tree,” which can block out the sky and sun.]

[Since it’s called the World Tree, naturally it has very powerful functions. Once it grows, it will greatly increase the survival chances of survivors in District 188.]

[However, the growth of this tree comes at a cost.]

[The World Tree needs to draw nutrients from the ground, but the nutrients in any land are limited. Providing for the growing World Tree means other treehouses will not be guaranteed growth.]

[Treehouses around the World Tree will gradually wither during the World Tree’s growth process, even District 188 itself is no exception.]

[Once the World Tree fully matures, all treehouses in every area will completely wither, and without treehouses, you all will completely lose the possibility of survival.]

[As a survivor of District 188, you can try to join and survive under the World Tree, but you are far away. If you let the World Tree continue to grow, you will only face death.]

[To ensure this survival continues, we have decided to provide all survivors, except for those from District 188 and its ally District 1, any help we can.]

[Starting now, the points mall for non-District 188 survivors will offer limited-time resources; survivors can go and purchase them immediately.]

[During the World Tree siege stage, you will not be attacked by beasts, and can use items bought in the points mall to exert a certain degree of control over blood-patterned mutant beasts.]

[Explore other functions on your own. The World Tree siege begins now. Use your wits and means to stop the young World Tree from invading the world’s soil!]

”...That’s how the mysterious voice said it.” Shi Wanyun repeated the mysterious voice’s words and then said, ”Every word I said is true. If you don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do about it.”

Is it the truth...

”Do you remember so clearly?” Lou Fei’Er looked at her skeptically, ”Able to repeat it word for word?”

”...I can’t repeat it word for word, but that’s basically the gist.” Shi Wanyun cast a glance at Lou Fei’Er, her eyes now showing a slight hint of annoyance.

Xu Xin decided to temporarily believe her.

He began contemplating.

What Shi Wanyun said matched his previous speculations closely.

Those alien invaders indeed began providing help to survivors in other areas.

This was also expected.

Without this, survivors in other areas basically couldn’t pose any substantial threat to them.

But with their help, apart from the beast tide, Xu Xin and the others now had to be very vigilant against these survivors from other areas, who might adopt unknown methods to attack.

However...

That mysterious voice can really spin tales.
