Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 914: Chapter 532: A New Layout, Beast Tide Incoming!

After Xu Xin led the people away, the lakeside returned to tranquility, leaving only a patch of dry, cracked land under the scorching sun, yet to recover.

About ten minutes later, ripples suddenly began to form on the lake.

Schools of fish, appearing at some unknown time in the lake, started to scatter frantically across the lake surface, gathering at the edges of the lake, motionless as if fearing something.

The ripples on the lake intensified, spreading from the lake’s center towards the edges, and then...

At the heart of the lake, at the center of the ripples, a huge head silently rose from the water.

Rock-like scales reflected blinding light under the sun, while the giant black eyes were deeply profound, like an abyss capable of absorbing all the light of the world.

The direction these black eyes focused on was less than a kilometer away, where the Crystal City emitted a glowing white light in all directions.

In the lake, all other creatures trembled and hid at the lake’s edges, waiting for its departure.

The Lake Giant Python’s head finally fully emerged from the water, its scarlet tongue flicking from its closed mouth, quivering, and then swaying its massive body, it began swimming towards the lake’s shore.

In the direction it moved, the fish once more scattered chaotically to clear a path.

But just as it was about to reach the shore, it suddenly stopped.

”Hiss—”

Its massive python body slowly turned, the black eyes gazing into the unfathomable depths of the lake.

Ultimately, it chose not to leave this lake.

It merely turned its enormous head, took another look at the Crystal City, then turned back and dived into the water, its very thick half-submerged body rapidly spiraling, until its tail submerged and vanished from sight.

From when the giant python emerged from the center of the lake to when it re-entered the water, everything occurred very quietly, with even the sound of water splashes being minimal.

This massive creature seemed to intentionally lower its noise, not wanting those around to notice its appearance and exit.

About two minutes later, the fish at the shore which had been shivering regained activity, swimming back into the lake.

The lake water once again returned to its former calm.

Everything seemed as if nothing had ever happened.

...

Meanwhile, the work on Xu Xin’s side was proceeding very smoothly.

Even though the so-called [World Tree Siege] had begun, during this period, no formidable enemies they imagined had attacked, and they were able to calmly plant everyone’s tree houses in the Crystal City.

A total of over a hundred people and more than a hundred lush banyan trees added a touch of greenery to the otherwise monochromatic white Crystal City, which could become somewhat monotonous with prolonged observation.

And the explorers had long selected suitable positions for these tree houses.

Since these survivors already had their respective duties, they naturally couldn’t be permitted to plant indiscriminately.

Those who had previously lived under the same tree house of an explorer member became more acquainted with each other, thus naturally willing to choose to continue living in the same area, still responsible for their previous duties.

At this moment, most of these people had finished transplanting their tree houses and gathered together to discuss.

”This is incredible!”

”Brother Lei just informed us that this Crystal City is the strongest defense line capable of blocking the beast tide’s attack! After moving here, we can relax a bit!”

”Block the beast tide? How does it do that?”

”Not sure, Brother Lei was too busy to elaborate, and I didn’t ask. Anyway, I fully trust the experts!”

”Exactly, we just need to sit back and be carried to victory!”

”Hey! I just evaluated these soils! All the soil under our feet is at the blue level!” someone suddenly poked their head out of a tree house, shouting excitedly.

”Really?!”

He then looked back into the tree house, and exclaimed again, ”Oh my god! There’s one portion that’s purple level! Purple-level soil!”

These survivors who had sought refuge with the explorers were immersed in great joy.

And the tree houses of their explorer members were all concentrated around the World Tree.

Specifically, on that large vacant area behind the palace.

They planted the tree houses about a hundred meters from the World Tree trunk, encircling and securely protecting the still-growing World Tree.

Xu Xin’s tree house was planted behind the Crystal Palace, with the whole tree canopy almost leaning against the palace.

He could directly jump from his tree house’s window onto the second or third floor balconies of the palace without needing to use the main entrance.

And Lou Fei’Er and Ma Hongwei’s tree houses were planted near Xu Xin’s tree house.

After handling matters, everyone gathered under the World Tree.

”So, is this where our tree house locations are set?” Wen Guixin asked, looking at the circle of tree houses around her.

”This layout feels nice.” Zhao Xiaochuan was very satisfied with the current arrangement. ”We can finally consider ourselves real neighbors. Plus, isn’t it perfect that we’re living in the central position? The others can live around us.”

”This is just a temporary arrangement.” Ji Chaoyang shook his head. ”The current layout is to facilitate our protection of this young World Tree that’s about to be besieged.”

”I think the current positions are great.” Xu Xin naturally referred to his own tree house’s location. He looked at his tree house and said, ”I don’t intend to change the location. If any of you are dissatisfied with the current positions, you can change them after this matter is resolved.”
