Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 921: Chapter 534: Crystal City’s Unrivaled Defense! (Part 2)

Upon hearing this, Jin Yue gently pushed off the ground, effortlessly leaping twenty meters forward, landing softly among a crowd of mutant creatures, and then leaped again, landing lightly in front of Xu Xin.

Her movements didn’t draw the slightest attention from the surrounding mutant creatures, those mutant creatures,

”No anomalies, I can use my power normally,” Jin Yue finally said.

Xu Xin nodded.

It seems that as long as mutant creatures without the beast bloodline are completely unaffected by this Crystal City.

The influence of the Crystal City on mutant creatures entirely acts on the beast bloodline.

...This is not good news.

Once they understand this principle and send a group of creatures with only the blood-pattern mutation, they can enter the city at will!

Xu Xin got up and looked back at the Crystal Palace and the World Tree at the center of the Crystal City.

That area didn’t light up like the crystal buildings in the outer area, still emitting their usual soft white glow.

Xu Xin immediately reported the current situation to the exploration team.

All members of the exploration team, except Zhao Xiaochuan, were staying near the World Tree and hadn’t gone out.

After all, they only needed a few like Xu Xin to explore the perimeter.

The information brought by Xu Xin immediately brought a sense of relief to everyone.

Ji Chaoyang: ”Let’s watch and wait then, don’t take action yet, maybe these affected mutant creatures could become our allies.”

Xu Xin: ”I’ve thought the same, I will continue to observe, and if there’s any change in the situation I’ll inform you.”

Wang Lei: ”Aren’t we secure then? We might not even need to act ourselves, right?”

Qi Xuefei: ”It only affects creatures with beast bloodlines, right? If they send pure blood-pattern mutant creatures, it could be problematic.”

Qin Yunlong: ”Blood-pattern mutations shouldn’t affect size, look at Lou Fei’Er and the others, their sizes haven’t changed. So pure mutant creatures shouldn’t be very large, they seem easier to handle.”

Zhao Xiaochuan: ”I’m on the other side, and it’s the same situation here, though the species are somewhat different from Brother Xin’s side. Here, there are smaller animals, like cats, foxes, rabbits, and mice, tons of them! Fortunately, they are larger than normal and have beast bloodlines, so they’re affected. Three waves rushed in and stayed put, no longer continuing inward.”

Different species?

Xu Xin mused.

It seems this mutant creature siege isn’t controlled by a single enemy, but rather by many commanders attacking together.

It makes sense; given how vast Crystal City is, it’s beyond the control of a single person to siege the entire city.

But if there really are so many commanders, then it implies...

Shi Wanyun’s words are true?

Survivors from other regions are really being used as command brains for the mutant beast armies?

Wang Lei: ”Mice? Oh no, if they send in a swarm of mutant mice to gnaw at the trees, it feels like it could be a problem!”

Indeed, it’s always hard to defend against a large number.

Wen Guixin: ”? A swarm of mice? Have you all forgotten me because I haven’t acted much lately? A swarm of mice is something I can handle easily, right?”

Wang Lei: ”Ah... right! Almost forgot about your ability... wait, then why didn’t you act during the insect disaster? Insects also move in swarms, right?”

Wen Guixin: ”...Insects are disgusting! To control them, I need physical contact, or use close-range gear. At the time, fire could solve it, so why should I act? And even if I controlled some, they could still commit suicide in the fire, wasting my efforts. I didn’t want to touch those disgusting things. However, if action is needed, I won’t hesitate.”

Indeed.

Lately, we’ve often seen giant beasts, and her abilities seem inadequate against them, because controlling a giant beast requires a prolonged effort, better to use heavy weapons to strike directly.

But when it comes to dealing with beast hordes, Wen Guixin has always been unmatched in combat strength.

Xu Xin suddenly felt relieved.

This is the real advantage of having the exploration team gathered together.

Previously, Wen Guixin could only protect her treehouse, after all, everyone’s disasters generally came simultaneously. While Wen Guixin was protecting her treehouse, other members’ treehouses were also being attacked, her abilities weren’t very helpful to others, they still needed to fend for themselves or hold out until Wen Guixin was free to help them.

But now, Wen Guixin alone can protect everyone against the beast wave!

Excellent!

It shows their defensive capabilities are very strong.

Giant beasts naturally need no mention, Crystal City can handle them. If it’s pureblood blood-pattern mutant creatures, the beast horde is tackled by Wen Guixin, and powerful individuals by Ma Hongwei’s heavy crossbow.

It looks like they basically fear no frontal assault method.

It’s a full sense of security.

However...

We must remain vigilant about another possibility, which is non-frontal means.

Xu Xin immediately called Zeng Tao, who was now near the World Tree at the center of Crystal City.

The call connected instantly, and before the other side could speak, Xu Xin directly asked, ”How is everything on your side?”
