Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 935: Chapter 539: The Little Sister’s True Identity?

When Xu Xin and the others returned to the center of Crystal City, the army of mutant creatures surrounding the city had already completely retreated.

All the survivors who had relocated tree houses into Crystal City were now gathered around the World Tree.

Wen Guixin had not yet returned, but everyone else was present, and Xu Xin recounted the recent events to all the explorers.

”Haha, it looks like we don’t need to worry about the beast tide invasion at all, right?” Wang Lei said joyfully, ”This city is simply invincible!”

”Yeah, I just saw the affected mutant creatures too; they were so docile that I thought they were domesticated animals!” Zhao Xiaochuan exclaimed, ”We pretty much don’t need to worry about anything now, do we? In theory, what creature in this world hasn’t been influenced by the giant beast’s bloodline?”

”So... are we completely safe?” Qin Yunlong asked, looking toward the direction outside the city.

”No, we still can’t let our guard down.” Ji Chaoyang frowned and said, ”Don’t forget, this beast tide... didn’t include flying animals.”

Xu Xin was actually always concerned about this very point.

Earlier, when he was around Crystal City, he observed the skies above and, fortunately, didn’t see any aerial creatures present.

”Flying creatures...” Xu Xin pondered, ”I wonder if they would be affected by Crystal City. I mean, if they’re flying at high altitudes and attack the World Tree...”

Xu Xin pointed to the massive yet still ”young” World Tree above, ”Would they still be influenced by Crystal City? In other words, how high of an altitude can Crystal City affect?”

Ji Chaoyang nodded and said, ”That’s also what I’m considering. Xu Xin, perhaps you could have your bat give it a try; it should be able to fly quite high, right?”

”Are you talking about Afu?” Xu Xin’s eyes lit up slightly.

Mimi, Silver King, and Afu, being mutants originally from his team, weren’t as noticeably influenced as the other mutant creatures during the beast tide, like fainting and defecting outright.

However, to say there was no influence at all would be impossible. They were significantly more excited in Crystal City than outside, especially Mimi’s behavior was very evident.

Mimi had lost almost all interest in this above-ground world, so while at the tree house, it mostly lay lazily on the ground, too lethargic to move.

But ever since entering Crystal City, its state had become noticeably more lively.

Afu, Silver King, and the three pangolins were the same.

The two small pangolins even rolled around on the ground as soon as they entered Crystal City.

Having Afu try it out was the best choice.

At this moment, Qi Xuefei suddenly spoke, ”We seem to have... not seen many flying mutant creatures, right? In the previous beast tides, we never even saw mutant flying creatures once.”

”Now that you mention it, you’re right.” Qin Yunlong agreed, ”When you mentioned flying mutant creatures, to be honest, I hadn’t even considered that aspect before.”

Qin Yunhu, standing beside him, nodded as well.

”Perhaps there really aren’t any flying mutant creatures, or maybe it’s just more difficult for them to mutate into flying types?”

”You guys indeed haven’t seen many, but we’ve seen quite a few.” At this moment, Wen Guixin’s voice came from not far away.

Everyone turned to look towards the direction of the voice and saw Wen Guixin dismounting from a mutant creature that had been continuously contaminated.

The mutant creature immediately collapsed as if it had exhausted all its strength, turning into a pile of bones in just a few seconds.

However, the expressions of those around did not change much, as they had become accustomed to it.

”We, who’ve been to the underground world, have seen quite a few flying mutant creatures.” Wen Guixin walked over and pointed to the ground, ”In the entire underground world, there are flying mutant creatures everywhere.”

”Ah... I remember now. You did mention before that the underground world has many flying insects.” Qi Xuefei’s eyes widened slightly.

”How are things outside the city?” Xu Xin asked, looking at Wen Guixin.

”Well... those mutant creatures ran so fast that I couldn’t catch up with them.” Wen Guixin shrugged, ”Circled around and came back.”

Xu Xin nodded.

As expected.

”...Rather than calling them blood-marked mutant creatures, they seemed more like pure giant beasts, didn’t they?”

As someone who had been chased by those things the entire way, Lou Fei’er had a very distinct impression of those giant beasts and insects. She quickly said, ”Even the insects were larger than the mutant creatures on the ground, let alone the giant birds flying hundreds of meters above. Those creatures should be beyond the control of the alien invaders.”

”Yes, but controllable flying mutant creatures do exist.”

Xu Xin thought of the group of mutated bald eagles he encountered while climbing the snowy mountain.

The blood markings on those bald eagles were very conspicuous, clearly indicating they were controllable beings.

”So, while flying mutant creatures may be relatively rare, they do exist.”

”I see...” Those around fell into thought.

Lou Fei’er tugged Xu Xin’s arm and whispered, ”The pterosaur statue, that counts as a flying mutant creature, right?”

Pterosaur statue...

Indeed.

Almost forgot about the statue creatures.
