Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 919: Chapter 533: Li Wenxi’s Whereabouts

”...Little one, where did you get this crystal orb?” Xu Xin turned to look at Keke on his shoulder, his voice somewhat displeased.

From the information inside the crystal orb, it seemed that Yingying had brought it up.

Yingying brought it up, then gave it to Keke, and then Keke handed this orb over to him?

This little one, always so secretive, and now it’s even linked with his sister Xu Ying!

Was it disappearing all day because it went to see Yingying?

Are they teaming up to play a trick on him?

The more Xu Xin thought about it, the angrier he got. He directly grabbed the little one’s scruff, bringing it in front of him, staring it down with big eyes: ”You little rascal, quickly tell me, where did you and Yingying meet up?”

”Yip!” Keke didn’t act dumb and pretend as expected but instead cried out, its tiny claw directly pointing in a direction, ”Yip yip yip!”

Oh?

Xu Xin’s eyes lit up.

Was it giving him directions?

”Xu Xin!” At this moment, Lou Fei’Er suddenly shouted cautiously, ”This group of mutated creatures has returned to normal! They’re about to surround us!”

Xu Xin’s heart tightened immediately.

Deal with the current situation first!

He placed Keke back on his shoulder: ”Keke, after this is over, you lead me to where you all meet up.”

”Yip!” Keke immediately nodded its little head in agreement.

”You two, stop thinking about attacking!” Xu Xin quickly steadied his mind, focusing all his attention on the current situation. Seeing Lou Fei’Er and Jin Yue preparing for battle, he said in a deep voice, ”There are too many of them, too widespread; attacking won’t help!”

He had only brought the two fastest-moving people out for reconnaissance; he never intended to fight here.

If Crystal City had walls and gates, they could indeed hold the gate position.

But the fact is it doesn’t; Crystal City is entirely open.

Fighting here is meaningless; killing more mutant creatures would only be a drop in the bucket; massive numbers of them would still invade the city.

So, their task with Lou Fei’Er and Jin Yue was simple: observe the changes in these creatures after entering the city and see if they truly affect their minds as the recorded Yingying said.

If they cannot be affected, then the real battlefield is by the World Tree.

Only by narrowing the range can they defend better!

Ma Hongwei, Qin Fu are ready in their treehouses, and they can control the treehouse ballistae anytime for carpet bombing around the World Tree!

And he left Zeng Tao and Mimi there not only to guard Shi Wanyun but also to let them join the fight if needed.

”We move to high ground, it’s better for observation and less direct attack,”

Xu Xin pointed to the only two-story high crystal building nearby.

”Okay!”

Jin Yue effortlessly leaped onto the building top.

Xu Xin and Lou Fei’Er climbed up with ease.

The three stood on a seven or eight-meter-high crystal building, nervously observing the beast horde’s situation.

At this moment, the beast horde also seemed to notice something different about Crystal City. From the initial orderly manner, they became slightly chaotic.

Some hesitated at the city’s edge, while others seemed eager to enter.

But they all seemed... to be holding back.

”They’re being controlled.” At this moment, Jin Yue suddenly said, her expression solemn, ”Someone is directing this battle.”

”Yes, I think so too,” Lou Fei’Er nodded, ”If not for control, they would have rushed in by now; most are low-level mutants, naturally impulsive, not this quiet.”

Being controlled, huh?

Xu Xin frowned slightly.

Is it the fur-covered humanoid?

Or perhaps... survivors from other regions?

Suddenly, the beast horde moved.

Without warning, without a previous sharp whistle command signal, the beast horde suddenly went berserk!

Whether near or distant, the mutant creatures all suddenly sprang into action!

Blood patterns on their bodies flickering, raging, screaming, they charged at Crystal City!

In an instant, the previously quiet environment turned incredibly noisy!

Finally, the first mutant creature breached Crystal City’s range!

And without stopping, a vast dark wave of mutant creatures poured into Crystal City!

”They’ve breached!” Lou Fei’Er, standing atop the building, nervously watched the mutant creatures, ”Will they be affected?”

Xu Xin was equally tense.

These mutant creatures were larger than ordinary ones, they must have giant beast bloodlines!

Can Crystal City have any effect?

The first batch of mutant creatures had already reached the base of the building where Xu Xin and his team stood, with a few cat-like mutants attempting to climb up and attack!

But at this moment, something strange happened with the Crystal City buildings!

The crystal structures, already dazzling in the sunlight, now shone even more with brilliant white light!

This intense brightness made Xu Xin and the others squint and instinctively shield their eyes.

And the wave of mutant creatures that rushed into Crystal City first also reacted strangely!

The blood patterns flickering on their bodies abruptly dimmed under the luminous white light!

Following that, Xu Xin saw the closest mutant creatures’ crimson eyes also dimming, turning towards dark brown!

And the actions of these mutant creatures slowed down suddenly, taking a few steps and then stopping.

This caused the mutants that hadn’t entered the city to stop as well. They were controlled, so no trampling occurred, but those outside the city kept wailing, as if urging and cursing!

Xu Xin felt a surge of delight.

It’s working!

And the effect is obvious!

Crystal City has amplified their giant beast bloodlines, suppressed the blood pattern mutations, and even affected their appearance!
