Berserk God of War

Chapter 649: Chapter 649: Could It Be a Hopelessly Devoted Person?

Nearly ten days had passed since the Soul Eater Leader was foolishly driven away by Gongyang Ying. Yet, he had returned.

Just as Gongyang Ren had anticipated.

Now, nobody knew what Soul Eater was truly plotting.

Both Gongyang Ren and Gongyang Ying had since classified the Soul Eater Leader as an extremely dangerous individual.

Inside a small building of the Imperial Advisor Mansion.

This was Sikong Jing’s second entry; inside were still Grandpa Gongyang and his grandson, with Aunt Mian continuing her vigilant watch outside the building, her gaze on Sikong Jing’s retreating figure filled with a mad killing intent.

Inside the building, Grandpa Gongyang and his grandson wore grave expressions as they scrutinized Sikong Jing...

He seemed unchanged, except for the presence of an ordinary Little Flying Vulture on his shoulder.

Having spent ten days in the Dragon Soul Battlefield, Sikong Jing’s once-groomed beard had grown back, and with a slight alteration to his appearance, he naturally didn’t look any different from before.

Grandpa Gongyang and his grandson gave the Little Flying Vulture a couple of glances, then ceased to pay it any mind.

They had no inkling of just how dangerous this little creature could be.

Suddenly, the atmosphere turned eerie.

All at once, Gongyang Ying sneered and was the first to speak, ”Soul Eater, I already chased you away. How do you still have the face to come back?”

Although aware that they’d been played by Soul Eater, Gongyang Ying couldn’t show any weakness in his disposition.

Upon hearing this, Sikong Jing chuckled softly and replied, ”I’ve realized it’s difficult to move even an inch in War Soul Imperial City. Trying to cleanse my name and make a comeback is so hard, especially with everyone hunting Sikong Jing. It makes life tough for a mountain bandit like me.”

The implication was that as the hunt for Sikong Jing intensified, even a mountain bandit like himself was afraid, lest he be mistaken for Sikong Jing and questioned.

”I’ve thought it through, the Imperial Advisor Mansion is the best place to be, so I came back.”

His voice carried a hint of roguishness, utterly insincere from top to bottom, clearly spouting nonsense.

Gongyang Ying truly loathed Soul Eater, and his tone completely infuriated her.

Unable to contain herself, she burst out angrily, ”You bastard, do you think the Imperial Advisor Mansion is a place you can come and go as you please? Do you have any idea how much you’ve harmed us? What are you really after?”

Grandpa Gongyang sighed softly beside her. Ying’er was still not composed enough, too quick to show her agitation.

Asking so directly, it would be surprising if Soul Eater divulged anything.

”True, it seems the Imperial Advisor Mansion really is a place I can enter or leave at will, especially since the secret of the Moon Soul Battle Body is in my hands.”

Sikong Jing answered matter-of-factly, almost sending Gongyang Ying into a fit of rage.

”As for causing you harm?”

”Where have I done such a thing? Killing Gong Bei Qiang was because I couldn’t stand his humiliation of Miss Gongyang, and dealing with Lian Zhiyu followed the same reasoning. And now, hasn’t the matter been perfectly resolved?”

”Even Gong Bei Qiang died at the hands of Sikong Jing of the Long Night Empire.”

At this point, Sikong Jing’s eyes narrowed slightly.

It was only after leaving the War Soul Sacred Dragon Palace that he learned Grandpa Gongyang and his grandson had pinned Gong Bei Qiang’s death on him.

As it happened, their blame was indeed correctly placed.

But they were still unaware that the Soul Eater Leader and Sikong Jing were one and the same.

With her lips twitching repeatedly, Gongyang Ying glared and seethed with fury, ”Keep pretending, just keep acting. Do you believe I’ll risk everything to kill you?”

He speaks as if he avenged a personal insult out of goodness, as if he could be that benevolent. No chance.

This is just a super villain...

By the end, Gongyang Ying hardened his tone and said, ”At worst, the secret of my Moon Soul Battle Body will no longer be kept.”

On his side, Gongyang Ren took over the conversation, ”Soul Eater, state your true purpose for coming to War Soul Imperial Capital, otherwise, even if it means revealing the secret of the Moon Soul Battle Body, we are willing to tear you to pieces. Don’t think we won’t dare.”

The only leverage they had over Sikong Jing was this secret, and to lay their cards on the table meant to adopt a tough stance for negotiation.

Should they continue to back down over the secret, they would be led by the nose by Soul Eater.

While speaking, Gongyang Ren’s aura surged to the terrifying level of the Golden Body Realm and pressed fiercely onto Sikong Jing’s form, as if the moment the latter did not reveal his true intentions, he would act to kill him immediately...

The great imperial advisor of the formidable War Soul Dynasty had never before been so passive, and this situation must change.

At this moment, Aunt Mian too stood at the doorway, her True Qi from the Dao Inquiry Realm rolling in.

They, with their crazy pressure, were bearing down on Sikong Jing.

Yet, Sikong Jing’s expression remained calm; he had long anticipated such a scene.

After a moment of contemplation, Sikong Jing finally responded slowly, ”Alright, in fact, I am here in the Imperial Advisor Mansion waiting for someone.”

As soon as these words were uttered, Grandpa Gongyang and his grandson immediately displayed intense sharpness in their eyes, fixated on him, and simultaneously demanded, ”Who?”

With a gaze filled with immeasurable longing, Sikong Jing spoke deeply, ”The Wangyou Sect Young Master, Wang Ge.”

When the name ”Wang Ge” was mentioned, Sikong Jing’s entire body couldn’t help but tremble involuntarily; this was certainly not an act, he truly, truly missed his sister and couldn’t bear for her to be in any danger.

He wished dearly to embrace her right now, to tell her that her brother hadn’t died, that he had always been working hard to protect her.

And this was also the first time he had mentioned his sister in front of outsiders, forced to utilize the influence of her name.

All to kill his sister’s master...Mo Ci!

Grandpa Gongyang and his grandson gaped, exchanging glances subconsciously.

Then, Gongyang Ying immediately let out a cold laugh and said, ”Are you kidding me? Waiting for Wang Ge in our Imperial Advisor Mansion? And you go to great lengths to infiltrate and become a minor guard, how ludicrous.”

”Right, if you’re looking for Wang Ge, you should go to Wangyou Sect.” Gongyang Ren added coldly, not believing him one bit.

Regaining his composure, Sikong Jing replied, ”Three months ago, after Wang Ge failed in her challenge against Miss Gongyang, she traveled westward. And when she returns, she will assuredly challenge Miss Gongyang again. Is it so strange that I am here waiting for her?”

Upon hearing this argument, the grandfather and grandson looked at each other again, finding some sense in his words.

However, Gongyang Ying wasn’t so easily convinced and pressed further, ”What is your relationship with Wang Ge?”

Sikong Jing slightly lifted his head and then shook it with a cold laugh, responding, ”I don’t wish to discuss that matter for now, it has nothing to do with you.”

Of course, he wasn’t about to reveal that Wang Ge was his sister.

Gongyang Ying, staring at Sikong Jing, recalled a statement he once made, mentioning he had a love-struck person...

Could it be that Wang Ge was his truly love-struck person? Otherwise, why would he be so desperate?

At this moment, Gongyang Ying was starting to believe him.

But Gongyang Ren had no patience for such sentimental affairs and directly demanded, ”Even if this is true, you could’ve waited for Wang Ge while serving as a guard. So why harm our Imperial Advisor Mansion, why kill Gong Bei Qiang?”

Gongyang Ying felt a chill in his heart; his grandfather was thinking ahead.

”The killing of Gong Bei Qiang has nothing to do with waiting for Wang Ge,”

Sikong Jing continued to explain, ”It was just to shake off your surveillance. I needed to send the Thousand-year-old White Ginseng out quickly, and it would have been foolish if I allowed it to get intercepted by your watchful eyes, wouldn’t it?”

This rationale was perfectly plausible; the Thousand-year-old White Ginseng was too precious and could be taken at any time.

And if Gongyang Ren did monitor and intercept it, he would certainly seize it.

The Thousand-year-old White Ginseng he had fought so hard to acquire, if any problem arose during its shipment, would it not be incredibly foolish?
