Berserk God of War

Chapter 623: Chapter 623: You’re Too Willful

Moreover, he had already set everything up before sweeping through Wang Hun State, he had already planned to firmly ensnare me.

He had long since laid the groundwork for my return route to the Imperial Capital.

Thinking of this, a cold chill crept up Gongyang Ying’s heart.

Opposite her, Sikong Jing continued to explain, ”Next, when I sent out the Soul Stealers in batches, I anticipated trackers and planned to kill all the trackers, then release false information to you.”

As the words fell, Gongyang Ren’s expression became grave.

The trackers he had sent out were incredibly skilled, but they had all been found and killed, which was extremely terrifying.

It was well understood that if even one tracker had managed to escape, the one million five hundred thousand elite soldiers would not have met their demise.

Meanwhile, Sikong Jing continued...

”At the same time, when I sent out the Soul Stealers in batches, dozens of groups would converge at the traps I had set in advance.”

”The final battle was in the Soul Penetration Mountain Range...”

”And the Soul Penetration Mountain Range was my territory. One million five hundred thousand elite soldiers were indeed terrifying, but my Soul Stealers won.”

At this point, the room fell eerily silent, Gongyang Ying trembling slightly.

Why was Soul Eater so terrifying?

Gongyang Ren’s face darkened with fury, but he quickly regained his composure and continued, ”Impressive, but there’s still one issue. Your million mountain bandits had just joined you, and you betrayed them by accepting amnesty. How will you continue to control them?”

If he could not maintain full control over the million mountain bandits, the scheme would unravel, noticed by the War Soul Elite Soldiers as something was amiss.

Even if it were not discovered, it would not be possible to proceed entirely according to Soul Eater’s plan.

”It’s simple, I plant my loyal followers among each group of bandits, then either execute or fully persuade their leaders, and use the threat of the trackers’ fate to instill fear in them, forcing them to fight to the death.”

Sikong Jing’s answer addressed Gongyang Ren’s concern, reflecting exactly what Deputy General Fei Chian had done.

”State Preceptor, now that my Soul Stealers have firmly established themselves within the Soul Penetration Mountain Range, they will disperse throughout it. You wouldn’t still want that Thousand-year-old White Ginseng back, would you?”

The Soul Penetration Mountain Range was vast, stretching across several large states of the War Soul Dynasty and reaching straight to the Youyuan Twelve States.

Now, even if Gongyang Ren wanted to eradicate all the Soul Stealers within, it was simply impossible. Therefore, it was still the same conclusion—if anything were to happen to him, the Soul Eater Leader, the secrets of the Moon Soul Battle Body would be disclosed to all.

Sikong Jing’s confidence at this moment was rock-solid!

Looking at the self-satisfied Sikong Jing, Gongyang Ying couldn’t help but exclaim, ”Soul Eater, your negotiation terms mentioned disbanding the Soul Stealers.”

Her tone was still filled with immense hatred, for Soul Eater was reneging on his promise.

Yet Sikong Jing just shrugged his shoulders and chuckled, ”Miss Gongyang, you too made a promise to keep your word, ensuring that nothing would happen to all my Soul Stealers. But what was the result? It seems we’re both alike in this matter.”

With that statement, Gongyang Ying was left utterly speechless.

She had given her word, but her grandfather had intended to annihilate the Soul Stealers, hence it was perfectly justifiable for him to go back on his word about disbanding them.

”Miss Gongyang, why bother?”

”Had you agreed to the terms I proposed from the start, wouldn’t we have avoided all this trouble? But you just had to be disobedient, causing Wang Hun State to fall into chaos and leading to the downfall of the one million five hundred thousand reinforcements.”

”You really are too willful.”

Sikong Jing’s words nearly made Gongyang Ying burst with rage.

And then Gongyang Ren ”bang” stood up.

He glared fiercely at Sikong Jing and declared, ”Soul Eater, I can overlook the past matters and compromise with you, but now you must remain loyal to Ying’er, otherwise I will obliterate you regardless of the consequences.”

After finishing his statement, the killing intent surged once again... His granddaughter was Gongyang Ren’s Achilles’ heel.

The pitiable Ying’er has been bullied into tears again, which is something Gongyang Ren cannot tolerate at all.

Sikong Jing was slightly startled, glancing at Gongyang Ying whose eyes were completely red. In the end, he couldn’t bring himself to bully her any further, and with a deep bow, he said, ”Guard Soul Eater, I shall take my leave!”

Turning around, Sikong Jing left the small building without waiting for Gongyang Ren’s response.

Inside the small building, Gongyang Ying couldn’t hold back her tears any longer and burst into loud sobs. She looked at Gongyang Ren with pleading eyes and said, ”Grandfather, am I really too willful? Did I cause the death of so many people?”

Gongyang Ren’s chest heaved violently as he looked at Gongyang Ying, who had become a crying mess. He almost rushed out to kill Sikong Jing.

His granddaughter was so adorable and kind-hearted. How could Soul Eater be so heartless to bully her like this?

Finally, he managed to say, ”Of course not, it’s just a failure.”

”From the beginning, you and I underestimated this Soul Eater Leader, treating him as a common mountain bandit. But this is a true war, and war is cruel.”

”We lost, and we must pay a heavy price.”

”If Soul Eater had lost, he would have had to pay a heavy price as well. There’s no right or wrong, no evil or good!”

As Gongyang Ren comforted her, Gongyang Ying gradually calmed down, but her heart still couldn’t let go.

Her upbringing was entirely different from Sikong Jing’s, and she still couldn’t truly comprehend war.

And at that moment, Gongyang Ren began to truly take Sikong Jing seriously.

He immediately ordered people to gather all the intelligence on the battle in Wang Hun State, and then he started analyzing it with Gongyang Ying...

”Terrifying, extremely terrifying!”

”Soul Eater is definitely a master at using soldiers. His Military Dao is probably not much weaker than Lu Lungan’s. It’s not surprising that you were defeated.”

From the initial battle at Luohun Road, to sweeping across Wang Hun State, and finally to the great battle at Soul Penetration Mountain... what Gongyang Ren saw from the intelligence was a fearsome commander of Marshal Level.

One could say that the Soul Stealer’s strike on Wang Hun State was a dimensional reduction attack.

From the beginning, Miss Gongyang was destined to fail.

”How could such a talented and good general be expelled by Lu Lungan?”

Gongyang Ren furrowed his brows, then shouted loudly, ”Someone, draft a letter for me to the Youyuan Twelve States. I need a satisfactory answer from Lu Lungan.”

Such a talented military leader had been expelled; Gongyang Ren really wanted to know what Lu Lungan was up to.

Beside him, Gongyang Ying cornered her mouth and whispered, ”Grandfather, do you even need to ask? Surely Soul Eater has done all sorts of bad things.”

In Gongyang Ying’s heart, Sikong Jing, the Soul Eater Leader, was beyond redemption.

Meanwhile, Gongyang Ren asked, ”Ying’er, how do you plan to deal with Soul Eater?”

Naturally, she had to assign Soul Eater to work as a guard at the Imperial Advisor Mansion.

”Just throw him into some marginal little guard position.”

”Doesn’t he want to seek a better birth? Doesn’t he want to use this opportunity to whitewash himself and become a General Marshal again?”

At that, Gongyang Ying said emphatically, ”Hmph, I won’t give him that chance. Such a villain must not be allowed to redeem himself.”

In her heart, if Soul Eater were to rise again, he would surely commit more misdeeds.

”Ying’er, you are wrong!”

Just then, Gongyang Ren spoke deeply, pointing to the intelligence about Wang Hun State, ”Aside from his enemies in Huanteng Mountain Villa and the Young City Lord of Wang Hun City, he has not killed a single Jianghu person.”

”When he swept through Wang Hun State, the chaotic mountain bandits under his command were tightly controlled, and not any ordinary citizens were killed.”

”This Soul Eater strictly abides by the principles of war and is not an evil person without a bottom line.”
