Berserk God of War

Chapter 619: Chapter 619: A Broken Guard

Another mountain bandit asked, ”Since the Soul Eater Leader knows that the War Soul Dynasty won’t let us off, why did he agree to their recruitment?”

One after another, the bandits wore faces of utter confusion; the Soul Eater had such arrangements because he knew the War Soul Dynasty would break their word.

But why would he then become a guard for the Imperial Advisor Mansion?

”Don’t ask what you shouldn’t, what the Soul Eater Leader wants to do is not something we can understand,” Fei Chian replied coldly.

Even as the Deputy General of the 66th Army, he wasn’t entirely clear on what Sikong Jing was up to.

However, all that was needed was to follow orders completely, and Fei Chian had complete faith in Sikong Jing.

”Everyone must leave this place with me immediately; there will likely be a battle within the Soul Penetration Mountains soon,” said Fei Chian with a sinister chuckle, then pointed in the direction of the Soul Penetration Mountains.

The bandits looked at each other but ultimately followed without any hesitation.

As for their original leader, dead is dead, after all. Now they had a new leader, and all they wanted was not to die.

Some even looked forward to the new schemes the Soul Eater Leader might have!

...

Apart from Fei Chian’s group, the other dozen batches of bandits that had split up encountered the same situation; each had experts from the 66th Army among them, with some bandit leaders being killed on the spot, and others not.

Whether to kill them or not depended on whether those bandit leaders were worth keeping alive.

Some were compelled by circumstances to become outlaws, while others were completely evil like the True Soul Eaters; the former could live while the latter would be killed by the 66th Army...

And Sikong Jing had long mastered the information and personalities of each bandit leader.

After dealing with the bandit leaders, the experts of the 66th Army would tear up maps, locate followers, and assassinate them, subsequently all bandits melted into the Soul Penetration Mountains.

The locations Sikong Jing marked on their maps were all not too far from the Soul Penetration Mountains, differing only in their entrances.

...

On Luohun Road, the 66th Army returned here.

And they did the same thing: tore up maps to pinpoint targets and kill the trackers in the shadows.

After the task, Message Birds arrived one after another, sent by the members of the 66th Army within each bandit group, signifying that every bandit team that successfully infiltrated the Soul Penetration Mountains had sent a Message Bird to Ning Jingjing.

”Everything is taken care of. A million bandits are completely under our control and have all entered the Soul Penetration Mountains,” Xia Dalian announced to everyone after receiving the final Message Bird.

Killing the bandit leaders was also to fully control all bandits, ensuring their unconditional obedience.

Ning Jingjing nodded slightly, then spread out another map.

On it were drawn a dozen red circles, marking the locations where each batch of bandits was expected to arrive. Ning Jingjing then told the crowd, ”Next, we’re going to teach the War Soul Dynasty’s elite soldiers a proper lesson.”

”The Boss means to slaughter all the War Soul Dynasty’s elite soldiers within the Soul Penetration Mountains,” she said.

Finishing her statement, she began drawing lines on the map, which were the strategic routes that would soon be enacted.

These had already been planned by Sikong Jing before, with Ning Jingjing now merely executing them.

Once all the core members of the 66th Army had committed them to memory, Ning Jingjing closed the map, a smirk crossing her lips as she said, ”Gongyang Ying may not double-cross, but the War Soul Imperial Advisor will... We have to teach him a lesson too.”

”Show him just how formidable we Soul Stealers are,” she declared.

The others twitched their mouths. Even General Ning had started talking about ”us Soul Stealers” as if she had unwittingly turned bad herself.

Indeed, now was not the time to mention anything related to the Long Night Empire.

At that moment, Lian Guang approached and asked, ”Second Master, how is the Boss so incredible? Just by tearing up the map, he can pinpoint the trackers’ location. What kind of terrifying skill is that?”

Even now, they were all amazed by the technique, as if it were some kind of magic.

With a bitter smile, Ning Jingjing looked at Lian Guang and said, ”Second Master, do you think I would know?”

The corners of everyone’s mouth twitched slightly, Sikong Jing’s various methods were beyond their comprehension...

And the fact was, Sikong Jing had detected the presence of the trackers just as the mountain bandits left, and then he used the power of the Spirit Platform Sea of Consciousness to leave a mark on the tracker.

At the same time, he left the power of the Spirit Platform Sea of Consciousness on the map, which could activate the mark as soon as it was torn open.

This was the terrifying aspect of having unlocked the Spirit Platform Sea of Consciousness.

Of course, if they encountered a real expert, the power of the Spirit Platform Sea would be discovered and erased... but at least none of the trackers had the strength to erase the Spirit Platform Sea.

Such mysterious methods, naturally, were not something everyone could understand.

Ning Jingjing spoke again, ”Don’t overthink it; next, let’s have a good competition to see who can kill more War Soul elite soldiers...”

The 66th Army soldiers got excited, rubbing their hands together in anticipation!

...

At Wang Hun City, three hundred thousand Jianghu people had already been released.

But when they heard that the Soul Eater Leader had become the guard of the Imperial Advisor Mansion, they couldn’t believe their ears and were stunned, and Aunt Mian even threw herself in front of Gongyang Ying, asking loudly, ”Miss, what on earth is going on?”

Gongyang Ying took a deep breath and said, ”Let’s talk when we get back; in any case, Shihun is now my guard.”

Then, Gongyang Ying turned to the three hundred thousand Jianghu people and said, ”Go home.”

Without further ado, Gongyang Ying turned around to look at Aunt Mian and the Moon Soul Group and then at Sikong Jing, who was smiling by the side.

”Let’s also set off back to the Imperial Capital.”

She felt somewhat weary, though the outcome could be considered perfect; her journey to Wang Hun State had been a terrible defeat.

The most crucial thing was, the Thousand-year-old White Ginseng... was gone!

”Wait a moment, Moon Soul Fairy.”

At that moment, a voice emerged from among the three hundred thousand Jianghu people—it was none other than the still-living Yan Benxing, standing shoulder to shoulder with his grandfather Yan Qihuan, staring at Gongyang Ying and saying, ”Moon Soul Fairy, did you agree to some condition with Shihun?”

Gongyang Ying trembled slightly and turned around to say, ”Yes.”

The whole place was in an uproar; so Gongyang Ying had no choice but to agree to Shihun’s conditions to save them.

Yan Benxing shook violently, his face ferocious as he said, ”Moon Soul Fairy, don’t tell me you agreed to... that kind of condition.”

Everyone naturally guessed what kind of condition it was, probably regarding intimate affairs between men and women.

As soon as these words came out, Gongyang Ying’s expression darkened as she shouted, ”No, Shihun only wanted to become a guard of the Imperial Advisor Mansion and to have a new, noble identity, to make contributions to the War Soul Dynasty.”

Damn it, if such rumors spread, it would be greatly detrimental to her reputation.

The Jianghu people stared dumbfoundedly at Sikong Jing, who wanted just to have a noble identity and erase the name of a mountain bandit.

After a while, Yan Benxing took a deep breath and then burst into hearty laughter.

”So it was just for restoring your identity that you became a mere lowly guard.”

”Hahaha, Shihun, you’re really funny; what you’ve strived for we’ve had all along.”

”To think that’s all the vision you have, you’re seriously making me laugh to death.”

Yan Benxing ridiculed Sikong Jing, implying that even if they were defeated terribly, they still won because they had good origins.

Other Jianghu people also came to a realization, no wonder the ferocious Soul Stealers didn’t kill them.

It turned out that Shihun was merely scheming for a better social status.
