Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill could only smile helplessly.

Benshasha’s curiosity was always quite heavy, and her reactions were always faster than Tymora’s.

However, this does fit the usual logic... misfortune always comes faster than luck.

Especially for the Toril people, many times, they can only see a bit of luck after misfortune.

Moreover, even that bit of luck depends on the mood of a certain goddess.

Although Tymora is quite lively, her mood is really quite unpredictable.

The fact that the Goddess of Luck has the most ordinary face is understandable for mortals, but for Tymora herself, it’s not something that makes her happy.

Especially since her greatest rival, Benshasha, has a face that’s radiant and glistening.

Every time she encounters the Goddess of Misfortune, Tymora actually becomes quite depressed for a period... which makes luck even harder to find.

In short, the vast majority of the Toril people rely on themselves.

Even if you meet the Goddess of Luck, it’s not always a good thing.

On the contrary, for the Undead Tribe... speaking of which, although fate is always unpredictable, how did something like the ’Magic Sword’, which brings disaster with a mere touch, come about?

No, it must be an account issue.

Hill had heard from the Undead Tribe that although the ’Magic Sword’ causes trouble in reality too, it’s not usually significant, and mostly because he’s too reckless.

It’s unknown what he was thinking or chose when registering the account... they had to answer some personality test-like questions when registering.

But such choices were mainly to disguise the body and future profession arrangements William had set for them, which closely matched their personalities.

Especially with special professions like the Space-Time Warlock.

Although it was said to be a random choice, a general scope had to be provided... anyway, the Undead Tribe believed those guys could become the chosen ones, which definitely had something to do with their choices at that time.

But the question pool William provided was huge and constantly changing, even now there’s no comprehensive list of profession choice questions, or any forum claiming that choosing such-and-such would guarantee becoming a Space-Time Warlock.

In other words, managing to turn one’s account into Benshasha’s chosen follower’s ’Magic Sword’ from such a vast question pool, really is quite impressive.

”Benshasha must be disappointed, right?” Hill chuckled, ”I heard that in their own world, the Magic Sword causes trouble too, but mainly because of his personality.

It’s not that he’s naturally plagued with misfortune... it’s always something he deserved for getting into trouble.”

”Benshasha can’t see his soul, nor can she find the source of his disasters,” Shaer said softly, ”So, she is quite curious about the Undead Tribe, oh, very curious.”

Hill raised an eyebrow... Although Benshasha hasn’t inherited Tai Ji’s intelligence, she surely can see that the problem with the ’Magic Sword’ lies in the presence that gave him the elemental body core granting him this peculiar luck.

No wonder Shaer is so knowledgeable about this matter.

Did that capricious young lady go to William?

Even Celene doesn’t dare bypass Shaer to find William directly.

Did the Goddess of Misfortune get slapped?

Despite many deities avoiding her, as the Primordial Darkness, Shaer is not afraid of her.

The Curse of Misfortune is the same, belonging to the Shadow Force of darkness... any energy, in whatever form it manifests, originates from the Primordial Power.

And once you extend from that point forward, you can see that Toril has two existences, who, even after the Primordial Light and Primordial Darkness split, still grasp chaos in the form of the Primordial Power.

One is Tai Ji... luck is the Primordial Light; misfortune is the Primordial Darkness; light and darkness entwine to form Tai Ji, who controls fate.

The other is Mystree.

The nature of Mystree dictates that she can’t affect AO’s control over Toril, but AO didn’t stop when he had the opportunity to weaken her.

Even Amanata knew about the event that led to Mystree’s downfall; how could AO not... but he likely didn’t expect Mystree to be so benevolent that she’d rather sacrifice herself.

Otherwise, there wouldn’t be the rise of Black Eye Mystra.

So, Black Eye is destined to die, while Midnight... just look at Edna, who remains neutral but inherently kind, which is the kind of Goddess of Magic AO prefers.

Midnight actually fits most of his requirements, but that Path of Destiny trauma indeed overstimulated her, making her unable to tolerate even the gray areas.

Moreover, from Midnight onwards, the Goddess of Magic essentially became just the manager of the Weave, no longer a threat to magic.

So, although Benshasha makes even Toril people avoid her and deities steer clear, to Shaer, she’s just a little sister she can handle easily.

But even if Hill figured out what happened, he definitely couldn’t speak too clearly... Shaer probably never imagined that, just with a few words, Hill, who always appeared innocent, could piece together the whole story.

So she didn’t even bother to hide the disdain in her tone.

But Benshasha can afford to be reckless; Hill cannot.

So he quickly changed the topic: ”Lansendel, my hall can continue to expand. Do you want to add more Task Puppets?”

”I only bought three hundred.” Lansendel sighed, ”So expensive~”

Watching Hill’s face transform instantly, the Great Peacock flapped its wings with a touch of helplessness and said, ”God of Time and Space, has no lack of metals, no matter how precious the raw materials.

Gold, he cares even less.

The resources he’s willing to trade are basically from the energy planes, especially those with owners.

I indeed have quite a few, but, I can’t just bring them all out at once for this matter, right?”

”William has already given him a great bargain.” Shaer said slowly, ”The energy bodies of the Undead Tribe have been directly handed over to him.”

”Then...” Lansendel wanted to say something but shook his head helplessly and gave up.

Hill guessed he wanted to say that William already put a price on the elemental bodies of the Undead Tribe once: at first, to test if the Undead could be of use in Toril, Coron paid a hefty price to send them to those worlds on the brink of collapse.

Moreover, to get William to cooperate in creating half-elf shells for the Undead Tribe, the Father of Elves returned those original bodies intact to William.

But, Lansendel found he had no right to speak: in this respect, he indeed benefitted.

Hill glanced lightly at the Great Peacock: this guy was completely led by Shaer, totally forgetting one thing: originally, William hoped to do something in this world that almost trapped Teraxil.

At least, even if the Undead Tribe later leaves, he must have enough eyes watching the Devil.

Although Asmodier, having failed to trap Teraxil this time, would not openly use this world against him... but, who would entrust their world’s future to the enemy’s ’cannot, will not, not worth it’?

Are we really going to wait until ’worth it’ comes along to see what the enemy wants to do?

William, after all, holds a just divinity, and he cannot have both.

So, Task Puppets are meant to be sold, but sending the Undead Tribe to this world, he will absolutely not charge any extra fee.

Hill couldn’t help but glance at Shaer... is this the attitude of the hostess?

Then he slowly said, ”Since you don’t plan to continue placing them, I’ll utilize the remaining small half of the area then!”

”What do you want to buy?” Lansendel was somewhat curious, ”What could this world have that interests you?”

”That potion that can allow some people to give birth to Twin-Soul children, for some reason, I’m a bit intrigued.” Hill replied softly, ”I don’t believe such a useful thing would completely disappear.”

Although the existence of Twin Souls is not necessarily a good thing for the child itself, for his Mage Family, it is enough to sustain the entire family until a child with true mage talents emerges.

An aristocratic family like the Hainarson Clan, which truly abandons such things, is definitely a minority.

World Will has granted them Fate, but to keep Fate flowing within their family, surely means they have never done something so sinful.

Though it might be possible that the elders of the Hainarson Clan felt something: perhaps their luck improves significantly when they don’t do evil.

But, at least among various temptations, they chose the most righteous path.

”You think that the guys in the camp down there have the finished product or materials, don’t you?” Lansendel understood Hill’s meaning and completely agreed, ”Well, as for Josh, sealing up these sordid affairs is basically impossible.

Ensuring these people don’t create such a thing under his nose is probably his limit.

But, do you think the Undead Tribe can help you acquire it?”

”Never doubt the ability of the Undead Tribe.” Hill smiled, ”Besides, what I want isn’t the formula.

Even the final product isn’t necessary.

Mainly, that material.

No matter how complex a potion, what it reflects is primarily the use of its core material.”

”But, it might be biological materials, Hill.” Shaer couldn’t help but look at Hill, ”Can you use it?”

”I don’t research biological materials because I can’t handle that kind of blood and tears, resentment, and hatred.” Hill said calmly, ”But not to the extent that I can’t touch them.

If the core material truly is some creature’s resentment, then finding a way to relieve it would also be a good thing.”

Shaer slightly furrowed her eyebrows... has Hill really guessed something, to be so serious?

Relief, purification?

Could it be that intelligent, emotive Stellar Realm beings are imprisoned by the mages of this world?
