Surviving The Fourth Calamity

On the other side, the tall figure was the same, his entire body, even his external clothes, turned gray.

But the dagger on him was clearly black and red.

It seems that the damage method of this thing is still primarily based on order but also aids in both good and evil.

So that Aikbail might not be a very good person, but he’s not entirely bad, quite different from this one here.

”So, why Aikbail?” Celene naturally understood too, and she asked again what puzzled her.

However, Shaer couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to him, and Lansendel was always lost in thought, probably with something on his mind... or more likely, pretending to.

He just didn’t want to discuss such issues with Celene.

And Hill... Celene wasn’t about to ask a child who knew nothing about the God of Order, not even five hundred years old.

Even if Hill was smart and had inherited memory, in the world of deities, he was just a child who didn’t need to bother with many matters.

”Aikbail’s identity among the Gods of Order seems unimportant, yet very important.” In the end, it was AO who resolved her predicament... After confirming the result, Shaer evidently couldn’t be bothered to pay her any more attention.

Only that old father, cold-blooded and ruthless, still had a bit of affection for his daughter.

He had to personally explain, making clear to the others the unspoken understanding... The child from the World Tree Family sitting nearby, though young, clearly understood the real critical point of Aikbail’s death to the Gods of Order.

But, that child always seemed unwilling to overly display himself, clearly young yet extremely composed.

In such a setting that would expose Celene’s intelligence, he could also peacefully act as an ornament.

But in cold moments, Hill could also suitably throw out a topic, playing the role of a very competent host.

Even though AO occasionally felt his two daughters were too extreme, sometimes hoping they could balance each other out, he truly valued Shaer and Celene.

After raising them for so many years, how could there be no feelings?

Moreover, although these two kids were rebellious, they actually understood things clearly in their hearts, as long as he persisted, they wouldn’t fight against him to the end... they still respected him a lot.

Therefore, AO never thought of exchanging daughters... the world could change anytime, but his own daughters were still necessary.

Even when he finished his business in Toril, he wouldn’t let his two daughters be left adrift. But... he wouldn’t say this at the moment.

Shaer could be left aside, Celene... if the eldest daughter didn’t have a bit of fear, who knows what she might do.

Though AO’s heart wasn’t big, it was still enough to hold his two daughters.

But occasionally, when he saw other people’s obedient kids, the great God Above Gods couldn’t help but look with envy.

He didn’t want to change children, but if they could learn something... sigh... never mind.

After glancing at Hill twice, AO continued, ”His teasing way of speaking is actually very useful to the Gods of Order, who never speak their true thoughts and always use formal words to deal with colleagues.

Many Gods of Order will reveal a bit of their true feelings to him.

Especially those Gods of Order in remote positions, who seldom have the opportunity to speak and can only cast a vote.

Their opposing votes are useful, but why they oppose, many Gods of Order standing at the front of the hall can’t figure out.

Moreover, it’s very hard to ask them.

So, Aikbail is really important.

Though he’s so powerful, he’s willing to joke with every God of Order... though those jokes are bad, they at least prove that he genuinely treats every God of Order equally.

Actually, from Asmodeus’s farce this time, you can see that these Gods of Order are not truly True Gods.

If not for being misled by Heavenly Mountain, they are not suited to become the masters of the Positive Energy Plane at all.

A neutral plane is more suitable for them to reside.

However, neutrality is a more difficult faction to maintain than goodness.”

Celene found it incredible, ”Why? Aren’t there many in the Neutral Faction?”

”Goodness can be maintained by certain means.” AO replied meaningfully, ”But neutrality is difficult.

It requires being indifferent to everything, unaffected by any person, event, or object.

Don’t think that the cold indifference of the Gods of Order can achieve this... they simply don’t care about outsiders, but it doesn’t mean they are unaffected.

Personal biases always cause any being to lose self-control.

The heart of greed... greed not just for material wealth, but also for spiritual honor... naturally makes one abandon restraint.

Have you and Shaer ever cared for anyone!

But didn’t you still fail to maintain neutrality?

So, Celene, neutrality is the hardest faction to persist in.

The place where the Gods of Order initially resided was the true neutral plane... however, in the end, they couldn’t continue to survive there.

It was too difficult.

Of course, most importantly, the core of that plane is not as easy to handle as the Pool of Life.

Don’t be so surprised.

You see, even with the help of Asmodeus, when the Pool of Life returned to Heavenly Mountain again, he couldn’t expel the Gods of Order who had already integrated with Heavenly Mountain.

He just regained his freedom and will no longer provide any benefits to the God of Order.

But... as the homeowner, he shouldn’t have been paying the rent and living expenses for the God of Order in the first place, you know?

I remember you discussed this kind of topic with the Undead Tribe.”

Hill had no idea what circumstance would cause Celene to consult the Undead Tribe about these lease agreements, so he couldn’t help but widen his eyes.

Then he spotted that Great Peacock sneakily casting glances... it seems Lansendel knew about it.

That’s good—he didn’t need to know right away either.

Celene understood and commented, ”Old man, you’re really ruthless!

The Pool of Life has endured until today before self-destructing, truly... quite patient.

As expected, those who fear death are easier to deal with than those who don’t...”

”It’s powerful strength that is fundamental!” AO decisively interrupted Celene’s rambling, ”Why is your thinking always so off-track?

Can’t you consider that if the Pool of Life were as strong as the previous Neutral Space, how could even revenge be so impotent?

It’s just two Gods of Order dead, even if one was a powerful figure capable of coordinating the relationship between the Gods of Order, what would it matter?

Those Gods of Order have been together for so many years, they already know what method is best suited for their system.

So, without Aikbail, surely another Aixail will emerge...”

”But this requires time, doesn’t it?” Shaer couldn’t help but interject, ”With the way those Gods of Order do everything by rank, and divide everything by hierarchy, just finding a suitable intermediary will take countless years.

Aikbail was one of the five Controllers, hence his style made other Gods of Order genuinely feel he was sincere in his dealings with them.

Ha~ Anyone else, like that nagging old guy, would only cause resentment.

You... AO, it seems you still hold quite a sentiment for the Gods of Order.

So biased toward them.”

”I’m just hoping Celene doesn’t get involved.” AO paused for several seconds before responding, ”Telling her the result is the best way.

If he told her about the complications in between, do you think she would hold back from trying something when encountering related matters?”

”What?” Shaer sat up sharply, ”What do you mean?

AO, Celene wouldn’t lightly meddle in the affairs of other worlds.

Let alone Heavenly Mountain, so far away, she’d have to waste a lot of Divine Power to open a Dimensional Gate!

Like this time, it was only because Lansendel first had a movement, she followed along.

Moreover, it was that foolish Princess of Hell who summoned for many years, giving her some impression of this world.

You, last time you played with the Path of Destiny, kicking out the dark seeds from Mulholland and Anmur’s side... so what do you want to play this time?

Do you think succeeding once means you can succeed a second time?

Don’t you also want to see who the masters are both times!

You can’t possibly think Amanata can achieve what Edna did?

That girl almost combined all the advantages of Midnight and Black Eye, plus the wholehearted teaching of the Elf and Undead Tribe to come this far!

Ha~ Elves wouldn’t bother with Amanata, no matter what benefits he offers.

Undead Tribe, how could he possibly settle them!

The Undead Tribe has no issues with shrews, but scoundrels won’t do.”

Then, suddenly realizing something, the Lady of the Dark Night burst into rage: ”AO! You don’t expect me to help, do you?

Absolutely impossible!

If you dare plot to get me to help Amanata, I’ll bring the Wild God over to swallow that damned sun directly!”

AO remained silent.

Celene looked around, finally chiming in, ”AO, you’re overthinking, aren’t you? I think between Devils and Amanata, most of The Wise Ones would choose the Devils.

After all, as long as the contract is thoroughly customized, Devils will fulfill it.

Amanata won’t do, he’s even more contemptible than the most despicable God of Order.

If Tyr hadn’t already taken away the Divinity of Law, otherwise, the resurrection of Amanata would have kept many deities and strong figures sleepless day and night!”

AO finally sighed lightly, gently responding to the rebellious women: ”There’s no need to probe, I won’t tell you anything beforehand.

I can only assure you, none of what you described will happen.”

Skillfully evokes sympathy.

Hill couldn’t help but recall this phrase... he had just nearly believed that Shaer and Celene were actually upset.

Unfortunately, Shaer, even while speaking intensely, didn’t have the slightest emotional fluctuation.

And Celene, her words were so hollow, Hill could hear it without the Natural Will needing to remind him.

Hill blinked his eyes: AO had already left his Magic Tower.
