Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill and Lansendel both understand Shaer quite well, and it’s not surprising that the Lady of the Night would turn her gaze to other worlds.

But they also know what Shaer means; although her primary goal is still world destruction, now she won’t indulge in pointless activities to dissipate her rage.

However, she won’t do nothing at all.

Compared to before, she will first see if there is any external world that can aid her in achieving her ultimate goal.

William indeed won’t help her, but he also won’t hinder her.

That’s exactly what Lansendel wanted to ask about... but the God of Justice, who resolutely refuses to set foot in Toril, has chosen to bury his head in Teraxil, ignoring the storm brewing outside.

In other words, unless it affects Teraxil, William surely won’t restrain Shaer’s malevolent actions.

Obviously, Shaer’s future style of work will not proceed from the bottom up... the previous approach of using mortal forces to create slaughter, attempting to cause a qualitative change through quantitative changes, will almost certainly not reoccur.

Now, instead, she is directly targeting those powerful individuals who are useful to her.

For example, the God of Secrecy, Vikna.

Although Shaer speaks simply, the hidden storm and crisis are palpable, even to Lansendel.

That’s why he’s so surprised that William has no intention of stopping Shaer.

Hill looked at the somewhat frustrated Great Peacock... to some extent, Lansendel quite agrees with William’s approach, so he doesn’t really want to see William remain unmoved by Shaer’s covert surveillance of other deities, which is highly likely to provoke cross-world warfare.

But Lansendel also understands that being able to suppress Shaer’s murderous intent arising from any peaceful and stable joyous moment is already the best result William can achieve.

This could even win the ’Love and Peace’ award.

Lansendel is not a great sage who demands others to do things beyond their responsibilities, nor will he ask others to sacrifice their benefits... generally, when he insists, it’s because the other party has already made a promise or even started something.

In his view, having a beginning and an end is a virtue, and sacrificing everything for it is a form of honor.

His followers actually align well with this trait of his.

So, he knows his dejection is entirely baseless, and he immediately lifts his spirits... instead of relying on others, Lansendel always prefers to take matters into his own hands.

So, whatever Shaer wants to do, let her be!

If it becomes truly excessive, he will intervene!

Lansendel has never feared the Lady of the Night!

Hill watched as the Great Peacock regained its fighting spirit and couldn’t help but softly say to him: ”Actually, Shaer has already given you a warning.”

”Hmm?” The golden Great Peacock abruptly turned its head.

”The Undead Tribe knows Vikna well.” Hill smiled helplessly, ”That one meeting Shaer can be considered his retribution, so there’s no need to worry about cross-world wars.

In fact, the end of the Fury Camp in Toril happened at my hands! Who would attribute this misdeed to me?

Moreover, Vikna’s Claw did not appear in the dark Hell without reason.

That guy loves to use this Divine Artifact paired with his own claw to invade other worlds and... ambush the deities whose divinity conflicts with his.”

Especially the secretive divinity.

Rather than saying William watched as Shaer acted against other worlds, it would be more accurate to say he understood from the start that Vikna initiated this matter.

Since Vikna started it, he has no one to blame but himself for not being able to conclude it.

Besides... how interesting!

Yet, Vikna’s Claw is in this world, where the Styx and the Devil vie for dominance.

Coincidentally, this world not only has Lansendel’s Chosen but also a Princess of Hell who dares to shout Celene’s name every day... even without Hill, Shaer would surely appear.

Although this might be due to Vikna’s own intentions attracting such powerful enemies... compared to Shaer’s pursuit of secrecy, Vikna is truly more extreme and cruel.

Shaer, although also cold-blooded and ruthless, rarely casts her gaze too low onto commoners.

Although, to be fair, she certainly wouldn’t care about the lives of these commoners and wouldn’t hesitate to destroy homes or kingdoms, she wouldn’t toy with someone for whom mere survival is a struggle.

Even when dealing with the mortal world, Shaer considers at the very least Royal Family Members and High-level Professionals.

Although this sounds somewhat shameless, or even like whitewashing Shaer, Hill remains steadfast in his belief that Shaer is a truly evil deity; her actions always have malice as their starting point.

But, perhaps because he has witnessed too much of the commoners’ sorrow in the past... on construction sites, one can see the greatest struggles.

Every person who risks their life to carry and transport bricks never cares about national policies or company bankruptcy; they only see those few red bills after work each day.

And for such people, even an additional hair’s weight would crush them completely.

Death might be a release for them, but an added burden certainly isn’t.

So, while mortals fear Shaer, they don’t despair at her name... not to the point of wanting to die with their entire family to avoid a worse fate.

However, Vikna would.

So, Hill thought that Vikna just emerged from the world but collided directly with Shaer, definitely making a good story.

Having experienced so much in Toril, of course Lansendel could understand the meaning in Hill’s words, so he quickly threw those troubled thoughts far away.

The Great Peacock flapped its wings: ”No wonder, although the Tower of Dark Enigma managed to retreat safely, you don’t want your student to deepen relations with them.

It seems you don’t know who he is, but you feel he’s not a proper deity, right?

Speaking of which, your student’s family is still over there, right?”

”There’s no need to worry about that, the Envoy of the Netherworld is Gilbert Hainarson.” Hill replied simply, ”For at least a thousand years, things in the Hainarson Clan will still be his.

As for what comes after, it depends on which side the world’s sovereignty will be controlled.

They both understood, however, that it’s practically impossible for the Devil to win.

The Undead Tribe is coming!

So, whether Gilbert will eventually stop caring for the Hainarson Clan due to the influence of the Styx, this clan won’t face any disaster, at most they just won’t have as much advantage.

But, if the millennium-long advantage cannot foster the glory of one’s family, then don’t bother about such future.

Living peacefully is also a good thing.

For Hill, this was actually the best outcome.

If the Hainarson Clan flourishes and rises to power in this world, that would be the worst outcome!

Having gone through so many dynastic changes in Toril, Shaer and Lansendel could actually understand... Hill must make his student survive beyond this planet, worrying about Hainarson’s best thousand years.

However, linking with Russell, who associates with Lansendel’s Chosen, surely no one would think ’working with you is a favor, if not for your talented teacher, who would bother with you’.

Everyone is clear that if only interests are divided without contribution, who would be idle enough to cede benefits?

It’s just wanting you to work while suppressing your presence.

Yet, sometimes absurdly, the world still regards this as a form of promotion.

Especially, they are part of a family, parents, siblings, elder generations, all mysteriously interconnected networks.

Even in a world where familial relationships aren’t tight, a larger fisherman’s net is still a net.

Even Russell and Carpenter, Hill’s students, would face endless trouble from the Hainarson Clan if they lived on this planet.

But if Hill sends them into the Stellar Realm, and keeps contact through the Dawn Messenger, then no one would dare boastfully come to ’mentor’ them.

Lansendel lightly flapped his wings: ”Hill, just stop here!

I see raising their own children is not as meticulous as you.”

”That’s why his two daughters are so adorable.” Shaer calmly interjected, ”Up to now, Celene and I, the only one we both have a good feeling about is Agleya.

That Alice, I don’t dislike her either.

Celene even quite likes her.

Children growing up in care... oops~”

Lansendel seemed a bit flustered, cautiously glanced at her.

Shaer ignored him.

Hill felt this topic was hard to continue, while he still clutched the Crystal Runepen!

Luckily, the Magic Tower began a rapid descent, landing directly on the ground.

-----------------

Josh, dressed in dazzling rose-gold robes, greeted the flying tower with his brightest smile.

Though he was somewhat surprised by his Main God’s unusually steady demeanor... Normally, Lansendel would be the brightest figure directly flying to greet him.

The Sun Peacock was the most common entity these Dawn Believers saw when rewarded.

However, Josh had heard some whispers, knowing that this time, other deities came to this unfortunate world.

Apparently, someone from the Tower of Dark Enigma even followed to the Sia Tower... even directly interacting with the Princess of Hell.

Josh found it quite admirable.

Though he wasn’t afraid, Dawn Believers can die, but shouldn’t die in vain.

Death without taking an enemy down would bring ridicule even in the Divine Kingdom.

The most crucial issue for Dawn Believers... is having no navigation.

Death isn’t scary, but getting lost in the Styx sure is.

Returning to the Divine Kingdom, when others ask how you died, where was the fierce one who dared to confront a Dawn Messenger... How to answer?
