Surviving The Fourth Calamity

The wisdom and intelligence of these Gods of Order make even Hill, a well-versed Alchemist Master, feel admiration. However, their methods for realizing their ingenious ideas only make Hill feel nauseated.

But what can Hill do?

He just learned a lesson from the experiences in this world... Knowledge should not be divided into good or bad; rather, it depends on whether one can master it, whether one can learn it.

Any knowledge can save your life at a crucial moment.

To learn not to act is to retain one’s normal qualities.

But when disaster occurs right in front, and yet one has no idea what’s happening, that’s sheer stupidity.

So, the things he might have chosen not to look at in the past, today he thoroughly analyzes, repeatedly contemplating the manufacturing concepts they contain.

Instead of always thinking about where these things came from... and why they are so vicious.

Hill knows this is a sign of his growth, but for some reason, he feels a bit like he’s losing something.

Truly, to always remain a child, that can only happen in a world of abundance, not extremely wealthy, but comfortable enough to live a smooth life.

Otherwise, unless one is inherently chaotic, who can live the life they want without a care in such a world?

Life is important, and everything one cherishes is important.

Some may choose to give up everything for freedom, but Hill cannot.

For the sake of what he values, Hill slowly pulled back the rebellious spikes he once exposed... not quite removing them, but indeed, they have flattened.

Thus, surely he has gradually walked away from being that eternally growing boy, becoming Hill of Teraxil.

Hill lowered his head, smiling slightly.

When he raised his head again, all those unnecessary pangs were chewed up and swallowed... he even abandoned the occasional pretentiousness of the past.

Human growth is always silent, but when reflecting back, it’s hard even to describe what it feels like.

Hill looked at the bizarre weapon on the giant screen, smiling and asked aloud: ”Ah~ What weapon is that God of Order using?

It managed to break through the protective shield that the Pool of Life placed on Asmodeus!”

Hill was indeed very curious about the weapon, which looked like a gun but with a top resembling a Wolf Fang Club.

The God of Order using it was clearly among those older men, the bravest in battle... moreover, it was uncommon for something struck by the Ruby Scepter to indeed display an enhancement effect.

”Hmm... you might not know him.” Lansendel identified carefully before saying, ”He came forward once to help a Positive Energy Plane resist Miska’s Bartro.

Though he mainly provided ideas and taught the native deities of that Plane how to sacrifice themselves to create the Seven-Section Rod.

But at least, he truly contributed his efforts and was beaten bloody by Miska, almost losing his life.

His attitude towards Asmodeus has never been good, but that’s not because the Battle Angel became uglier; rather, he always felt the existence of these angels made the Gods of Order decadent and incompetent.

Frankly, he’s just a stubborn old man.

If you say he’s bad, he’s not thoroughly bad, but I suspect Asmodeus finds him most annoying.

If given the chance to ruin Bartro’s mouth, Asmodeus would likely spare the lives of other Gods of Order.

However, it’s precisely because his misdeeds are due to his lousy temper and not an inherent intent to do evil... his weapon genuinely has the power to drive away evil, unlike the other old fellows.”

Hill couldn’t help but twitch his lips... was this what he was asking?

But he understood why Lansendel was so annoyed by Bartro... he represents Dawn, symbolizes passion and youth, and, naturally, he’s the troublemaker the old stubborn ones most want to stifle.

And the old stubborn ones love to leverage their experience to suppress young people.

Yet sometimes, you have to admit, his maturity wasn’t entirely meaningless.

But, which young passionate soul would willingly accept such a languid life?

Hill didn’t need to think to understand how painful it must have been for Asmodeus back then... these nags, though obnoxious, weren’t actually trying to kill him.

Just murmuring things like ’your existence is the biggest trouble,’ though annoying, compared to those secretly plotting to make them die on the battlefield and never return home, Bartro was far from deserving death.

Of course, Asmodeus was not someone with much tolerance, but he understood better if he harbored malice even towards Bartro, then... the Gods of Order would surely realize their resentment has exceeded the bounds.

Until a way out is found, he can only endure.

Hmm...

Hill quietly raised his head, looking at the Lord of Hell on the giant screen, who although injured, still displayed ease... Asmodeus, given his rare resilience, naturally because those wounds were healed by Life Energy’s warmth.

Fortunately, the Lord of Hell can withstand high temperatures well, otherwise, he would be burned to blisters by this boiling water treatment.

Though, indeed, as Lansendel mentioned, when Asmodeus strikes Bartro, it’s particularly decisive.

People like Hill, who don’t understand, might only assume he chose Bartro due to the rare effectiveness of the Ruby Scepter... but after careful observation, Hill could see the Lord of Hell merely wanted to smash Bartro’s face.

Asmodeus’s true target, evidently, was not the two Gods of Order whom his Ruby Scepter could harm.

Hill was a bit surprised... he didn’t think the Lord of Hell was one to have such a baseline presence.

Then, where indeed comes the true killer strike?

Hill instantly fell into confusion... It’s certain that the Pool of Life cannot be used to deal a killing blow.

His attributes determine his supportive vocation.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t possess such immense energy, yet still have to wait for Asmodeus to save his life.

Celene tilted her head and pondered for a while before turning to the Great Peacock and asking, ”Hill is asking why that weapon is shaped like that, and how come it’s so useful, right?

Are you not answering the question directly?”

”Did I say something wrong?” Lansendel replied defiantly. ”If Bartro weren’t genuinely of the Kind Alignment, a rarity on the Heavenly Mountain, how could he receive the most Positive Energy feedback?

The spikes on that weapon, aren’t they all Radiant Crystals refined using Positive Energy by him?

Aside from him, who else on the Heavenly Mountain would use such a weapon that’s lethal only to evil!”

Shaer shook her head with a smile and spoke to Hill, her tone carrying a hint of amusement: ”Though Bartro is an old stick-in-the-mud, he’s also quite senile.

Therefore, those old folks can still fool him.

Besides, he’s not entirely kind, just has a bit of kindness left... You see, even though he doesn’t like the way his peers act, when the other old folks reach a consensus, he doesn’t raise any objections.

He vents his anger on the victims instead.

Heh~

Everyone understands the truth.

However, those years, there was an amusing joke circulating in the Multiverse: The true Angels are in Hell, and there’s no paradise atop the Heavenly Mountain.”

Hill blinked: ”Asmodeus’s doing?”

Anyone aware of the existence of this upheaval on the Heavenly Mountain couldn’t be just any ordinary deity.

And those old folks in the Multiverse wouldn’t spread such news for anyone else’s life or death.

Only Asmodeus, who wanted Hell to have a bit more breathing room, avoiding being pinched between the Heavenly Mountain and the Abyss, had the necessity to do so.

Shaer nodded: ”It must be him.

However, Bartro was able to maintain his nature because of this joke.

These years, the stereotypical image of the Heavenly Mountain has been particularly prominent, just because most of their Messengers sent out are Bartro.

The others are okay, but their minds work better than Bartro’s, making it not easy to order them around.

Although this sounds like a joke, there is truly no difference in status among the God of Order.

Taking action against anything requires strategizing.”

”So, even those old folks who haven’t done anything bad are just slightly better than Neutral.” Celene pinched her fingertips together to indicate a small distance, ”All their decisions are made through voting.

Although the minority follows the majority, they still know what they’ve done themselves.

So, the sins are naturally shared among everyone.

It’s just that those who don’t make trouble alone and occasionally do some good deeds can be... hehe~

Considered kind.

Kindness is indeed easy to achieve.”

Hill tried hard to look at the ground ahead... almost blurting out, ’You’re all like that.’

However, Shaer and Lansendel didn’t have any feelings about Celene’s words.

It was evident that they were used to the kindness of Toril.

”Rose is gone.” Hill said in surprise, looking up again at the giant screen.

”Under that starfish-like rock over there.” Lansendel said with a smile, ”With so many claws, she’s indeed nimble, drank so much, yet can still run fast.”

Hill nodded: ”I really wonder how she plans to escape later.”

”Heh~” Celene laughed, ”Just that one move. Fragmentation!

Each claw carries a bit of water.

See which claw can break through the seal of the God of Order outside.

Anyway, Asmodeus is bound to rush out as well, it’s just a matter of whether she’s lucky.”

”Strange, what’s Asmodeus waiting for?” Shaer was a bit curious, ”The longer he drags on, the tighter the seal from those God of Order outside will become.

Without the help of the Pool of Life, he doesn’t have the ability to counter so many God of Order.

Lansendel, what about those Demons and Devils?”

”Still snatching things.” Lansendel shook his head, ”Those old folks are really lavish, even exposing stuff from their warehouse.

How can those guys resist?”
