Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Therefore, when Celene mentioned ’a lady’, Hill didn’t even consider the possibility that it was the Silvermoon Maiden’s overly keen intuition at work, but rather... how could he ignore the presence of that more beautiful and feminine Goddess.

Her attire was overly classical, her hair neatly styled, and even her hair accessories and jewelry resembled those of a lady in an oil painting... Not that she wasn’t beautiful, but a noblewoman like this, held little allure for Hill.

No matter how beautiful a young lady might be, when she’s confined to a shell, she’ll always lose much of her brilliance... Not to mention, this particular one isn’t even as beautiful.

But it’s at this moment that Hill starts to understand: the God of Order, no matter the circumstances, holds a significant place in the multiverse, one could even say she’s among the very top-tier of powerhouses.

Even if they must adhere to many rules... the God of Order’s rules are solely for their own benefit, not to limit themselves.

Thus, like a lady in men’s attire, dressing according to one’s own whim is the true self.

As for her... Hill, despite not understanding women too well, is quite clear that if she truly adored such classical and nearly austere attire, her expressiveness wouldn’t be so... non-existent.

Hill has seen those women, wearing the same style of long dress for years, with precisely arranged hair, but they believe that only in that way they achieve their most perfect self... From their eyes and demeanor, you can see that ’I’m the most beautiful’ spirit.

Even someone as superficial as Hill fails to understand that kind of beauty, but he doesn’t find them unremarkable nor thinks they lack beauty.

Nor do they go unnoticed when faced with another unique lady.

But Hill is ultimately not that attentive, thus overlooking these minor details.

Still, Hill can’t comprehend... what kind of circumstance would force such a powerful God of Order to suppress and conceal herself like this?

She is an existence with substantive authority, not just someone who can only cast dissenting votes!

Even if there are dissatisfactions... The name God of Order doesn’t signify a deity abiding by order, but one who establishes it!

Hill can’t fathom what could warrant her transformation into this state.

He couldn’t help but look at Celene... AO should know a bit about the reason, right?

Fortunately, Celene is a good maiden who won’t let her doubts accompany her into the night. After pondering AO’s words... Of course, this is thanks to the excellent guiding power of the argument with Shaer for half the day... She promptly opened her mouth: ”Old man, can’t you speak plainly?

Why always make me guess.

A thousand or two thousand years could be tolerated, but it’s been hundreds of thousands of years now, do you still expect me to change?

Isn’t it better to clarify things earlier so everyone can be at ease?

So, Cosette, that’s the name, right? Why is she involved with Asmodier?

What leverage could that King of Angels have over her!

Before entering Hell, Angels had no gender, right?”

Hill blinked: So, the rumors that Asmodier was bisexual were actually incorrect?

It’s just that Angels can temporarily remain genderless, and choose to fix on a particular gender.

And on Heavenly Mountain, they mostly maintained a genderless state... Until entering Hell, Asmodier made his choice due to the presence of the Princess of Hell.

This somewhat helped Hill understand why Asmodier didn’t let Battle Angels guard the Hell Palace, without alarming the Great Devils too much.

Not worried if they are all male or all female, the greatest fear was their ease in switching from male to female, how could they arrange their duties?

Moreover, Asmodier wouldn’t let such proud beings serve a Devil, even if that Devil were his wife.

Still, Bisozeya could make the Battle Angels hate her to the bone!

Hill shook his head, detaching himself from thoughts of privacy... Everyone, no matter how normal, experiences an occasional bout of voyeurism.

He understands his divergences in thought, but he must constantly remind himself not to dwell on such matters excessively.

Lately, Hill has somewhat realized... in the multiverse, curiosity can lead to trouble.

Sometimes, ignorance is better than knowledge.

He couldn’t plunge headfirst into a path of no return... Previously, it didn’t matter, since he kept secrets tight, indulging in his amusement alone.

But now, amidst continuously being silenced, Hill has fully realized: he shouldn’t have known!

He’s not the silent and reticent type!

He couldn’t feign that either.

This time he’s lucky, but what about the future?

Sooner or later, someone will notice something’s amiss with him.

Hill definitely doesn’t want to expose his destiny-related talents.

He doesn’t wish to remain stuck in Teraxil, unable to venture out.

The only thing he can do is control his curiosity... Anyone’s enjoyment can be considered, but definitely steer clear of overly private matters.

Fortunately, the secrets in his mind have reached their end.

For him, the future of Toril was still an unknown number, no longer needing him to pretend to understand while playing the fool.

And after this great turmoil on Heavenly Mountain ended... Hill, like other deities, could only stand on tiptoe and wait for them to put on a show by themselves.

Oh... fate was actually quite kind to him.

When his mind was filled with unsettling things, it didn’t light up his fate star.

It was only when everything reached the end that his mouth was solemnly sealed... it also conveniently tightened his skin.

Mmm, the elders in his family were quite doting on children, no wonder he was so good at teaching kids.

Thinking of this, Hill nodded in satisfaction, with a slight unknown pride, glancing at Celene.

AO was teaching her at the moment: ”You say he has no gender, so he has no gender?

All his manifestations are masculine.

Not choosing a gender wasn’t because the God of Order wouldn’t allow it, but because he was clever enough.

Asmodeus, before battling demons, was one of the most beautiful beings on Heavenly Mountain!

Didn’t you see how he looks now?

That’s the appearance after being eroded and mutated by the Abyss’s aura!

Can you say he’s not good-looking?

He just became more aggressive, and his edges became sharp because they turned into a masculine image.

The God of Order, indeed, most are not interested in beauty, focusing only on their grand future, but there are always those who are very satisfied with themselves now and wish to see the existence of a new world.”

”So, Cosette is the one who lusts for beauty and got caught?” Celene completely ignored how much in AO’s lengthy speeches was teaching her to think and watch more, only clinging to the sentence she wanted to hear.

Although he didn’t hear a sound, Hill felt he could hear a heavy inhalation.

In fact, AO almost didn’t pause, and his tone didn’t change much, but Hill had this feeling... the word ’unsettling’ was floating in the air.

”How would I know what Cosette did? I can’t even tell whether she had issues before or after the Battle Angel descended to Hell.

I’m talking about Asmodeus with you, why are you dragging Cosette into this?”

”But you didn’t deny the possibility I mentioned.” Celene smiled with absolute certainty and satisfaction, ”So, this Goddess of Order might have gotten into trouble for flirting with Asmodeus, right?”

”AO, was Cosette always such a conventional and rigid existence?” Shaer finally couldn’t stand Celene’s scattered way of communicating and spoke, ”I rarely see a powerful Divine Power being so strict with themselves.

Transforming into cats, dogs, and peacocks is the norm.

This kind of...”

”I just searched my memories too... it’s really been too long.” AO sighed lightly, ”The matters on Toril took up almost all my energy and memory, those distant pasts, I must delve deep into my Mental Sea to rediscover.”

Shaer nodded in sudden realization: ”So, before entering Heavenly Mountain, or before Asmodeus appeared, this Goddess Cosette wasn’t like this.”

Otherwise, AO would have just answered ’yes’ without needing to search his memories... he must have noticed something was off to search his Mental Sea.

Then, when AO was young and vigorous, was Cosette the kind of existence Celene mentioned, fond of beauty?

Among the first and most powerful gods of order, Mei Fei’er liked more slick attire.

Cosette liked, um, fitting yet flowing ones.

But in that period, even for deities, clothing was simple... just a naturally woven white robe.

Only later, with more beings encountered and influenced by the outside, did the current style form... after all, if we want others to follow the order we set, dignity and intimidation are the basic requirements.

But perhaps the demands on women among the ordinary were too...

Anyhow, in the end, Mei Fei’er chose to modify the male robe, Cosette inclined a bit towards Elf attire.

Until we entered Heavenly Mountain.

I don’t know when exactly she suddenly started liking those classic long dresses.

Clearly, she always felt they were a kind of bind before.

Heh~

But, it should have been after the Battle Angel appeared.”

Hill naturally understood what he was laughing about: An order god, who liked the lifestyle of elves, couldn’t possibly suddenly become an old-fashioned person.

”Why didn’t any of you feel it?” Celene curiously asked.

”At that time, the gods of order were already starting to become extreme, very mindful of their identity and status.” AO replied softly, ”Not just Cosette, other male deities also changed styles to show their pride.”
