Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1195: Chapter 986: An Intimidating Opening

Although Edna didn’t agree with many of Midnight’s actions... she thought Midnight, as a gatekeeper, didn’t need to worry so much about what was stored in the treasure room behind her.

But that doesn’t mean Midnight’s rejection of evil is wrong.

Kindness is never wrong at any time, but since she accepted the mantle of the Goddess of Magic for revenge and that bit of ambition, it was only right to relinquish some freedom.

However, if someone could kill off the Shadow Weave before she returned to the center of the Weave, Edna would be quite pleased.

Whenever she thought about that thing, she couldn’t help but curl her lips... Midnight wanted to throw all the junk she didn’t like into the Shadow Weave, which she considered a big trash can, only to be smashed headlong along with the trash, leaving her half-paralyzed.

”Ah...” Luke, who didn’t care about their conversation, was restlessly stretching his neck, ”Why hasn’t that Manske come yet?

According to proper dinner timing, the host should appear in ten minutes, right?

Could it be that she plans to be even later than the host?”

”She’s a Miss Saint!” Edna closed her fan and tapped it on her hand, ”Given her status, even Lady Elaströ and Xinbu should welcome her down the aisle!”

”Hiss...” Devis took a sharp breath, ”She really dares?”

”Why wouldn’t she?” Edna laughed until her eyes narrowed, ”They’re using the way they treat guests to welcome her, actually shifting the pressure onto Manske~

If her status is unquestionable, she certainly has the right to face the three Magic Electors with arrogance.

If her status is questionable... it depends on whether the one behind her has the power to suppress the Mana vortex created when those three Electors appear at the same time.

Especially Lady Elaströ... She’s particularly imposing because she’s been possessed by the former Mystra many times before.

Those without enough capability can’t even lift their heads in her presence.”

”So, if she passes today’s test, is her status somewhat trustworthy?” Luca asked curiously.

Then he was met with his companions’ speechless question-mark faces and Gendilarei’s eagerly smiling face as he turned back sharply to see who was talking nonsense.

”Ah...” Devis covered his face with one hand, ”Luca, next time you say something brainless, make sure to mind the occasion... Didn’t you notice that even people behind are trying to see who you are?”

”Oh~” Luca looked puzzled.

”If she’s even a little genuine, the Magic Electors will absolutely not test her.” Leonard, being a bit kinder, explained to him.

However, the Nature Mage couldn’t help his curiosity and delivered the fatal blow to Luca: ”Honestly, I never thought there would be a Human Mage slower than me at reacting!

Even if you’re not interested in things like political theocracy, you should at least understand some basic laws related to Deities, right?

The reason Electors are Electors is because they are inseparable from Deities.

It’s hard to imagine someone not realizing their deity’s electors... unless their Main God wants nothing to do with them at all.”

”How is that possible?” Nasir couldn’t help but laugh, ”They’re all chosen... ah... even if not, she must have one or two she likes!”

Edna watched their exchange with a calm face, suddenly raising an eyebrow: ”Here they come.”

As the blue and white light blossomed, three figures appeared on the high platform in front of them.

Some people in the round hall stood up to show their respect for the Magic Electors.

Here, Devis and Luca, as followers of Azuth, also stood up... Even if they were under Azuth, they still had to show some respect to the Main God’s Electors.

Edna, however, sat very steadily.

Even though, as logic goes, the silver-haired beauty in the white robe standing to the left was her grandmother, and the silver-haired beauty in the black robe to the right was her grandmother’s sister.

She suddenly raised an eyebrow... ah, the fellow in the black robe in the middle was also the husband of another of her grandmother’s sisters by name!

Edna smiled slightly... At this moment, she was indeed very grateful to Lord Hill!

If it weren’t for him welcoming her into the Hidden Town, how could she have split from the family before adulthood?

By then, she wouldn’t have been able to deny her identity... She couldn’t really call Lady Elaströ grandmother at that point, could she?

She would have vomited to death.

Edna thought over and over again that she would not be able to resist exposing her identity.

But now it’s different... she already completely belongs to another faction and hadn’t learned any spells from the Silver Palace.

Everyone knew her true teacher was an Elf!

Edna would rather acknowledge Black Eye if necessary, after all, he was the one who truly taught her.

So now, she could entirely act according to her own wishes... She laid the fan horizontally on her lap, slightly bowing her head to show gratitude to the host who was entertaining her.

Elaströ first glanced at the too obvious clearing, slightly dazed, her eyes carrying a trace of reproach as she looked at the brightly smiling Xinbu.

The Storm Queen laughed heartily, ”Oh dear~ isn’t being the center of attention exactly what people want?”

Gently shaking her head, Elaströ cast aside that slight uncertainty... even though she had secretly observed Manske for a whole day and didn’t think she was the reincarnation of Mystra.

But she was still a little worried that there might be a fragment of Mystra’s soul in this little girl.

Of course, Elaströ understood that all of Mystra’s soul must have been collected by the Weave... even the past Dead Magic Zone, with the addition of the Shadow Weave, was also under the jurisdiction of the Weave.

So even though the Weave still caused many troubles for their magic believers at present, Elaströ could be sure... that when Mystra returns, the power of them, the Chosen, would become even stronger.

Many troublesome things that she had to endure in the past should no longer need to be endured after that.

But before that... Elaströ’s eyes turned to Edna... The demeanor of that little girl was as if she considered herself a high-level official of equivalent power, having nothing whatsoever to do with them.

Edna’s easy agreement to take the Quel Senta people out for a tour had indeed created a bit of an illusion for them... that this exceptionally powerful young mage was still willing to accept the belated affection of her parents.

But now it seemed, only the paternal side.

Obviously, Sharol had to leave Silvermoon City for her, but... Elaströ shifted her gaze, although she did not pay much attention to her daughter, she still knew Sharol’s character.

Once she had new love, a new child, she would indeed abandon the child of an embarrassing ex.

Edna must have been certain she owed Sharol nothing before acting so resolutely... So did Sharol swallow all of Edna’s father’s wealth?

Elaströ silently sighed in her heart without letting anyone notice, completely giving up the thought of gaining some connection through Edna with that Lord Hill.

Her relationship with the Lord of Agleya seemed always lacking... even though the first time the other party appeared in Toril was to come to the Silvermoon Alliance.

However, for Kelben, as a fellow magic elector, she had no choice but to give up the friendly relationship already established.

Elaströ’s eyes darkened... it was because of Kelben that she also had to send off her incredibly talented descendant to someone else!

But what were all these concessions for?

More and more troubles, even making her and her sister have to appear together... she and Xinbu represented the northern and southern magic electors respectively. Especially Xinbu, who could even represent parts of the Shadow Valley in the continent’s center.

Suppressing the impatience rising in her heart, Elaströ turned her head towards the right door: the beautiful and petite Miss Manks was gracefully entering, followed by a group of men of varying appearances, wearing luxurious blue velvet robes with braided blue pearl headbands on their coiffed long hair.

The blue water drop earrings on their ears were especially round and large.

They wore blue and white pearl chains on their hands, feet, and necks... especially the three-layered necklace on the neck, which was extravagantly luxurious.

However, no one who saw them was particularly amazed... An eight-year-old, no matter how mature-looking, wearing pearl jewelry felt particularly out of place.

Many couldn’t help but glance at the purple jade-adorned Edna... Tsk, now that was properly the luxurious princess style... even if looking more mature, why dress more maturely than Elaströ at just eight years old?

It was uncomfortable to look at.

Manks followed behind Yaro with a proud face and only after sitting on that particularly luxurious sofa did she pick up the small pearl fan to cover her face, looked around the hall, then tilted her chin up, noticing the three Magic Electors who had settled quietly.

Her beautiful eyebrows suddenly furrowed, then slowly smoothed out again as she turned her head to the left.

Unfortunately, though in the front row, she couldn’t see Edna sitting in the second row at all.

She could only see the purple jade like stars woven into the mithril thread on the back of Edna’s head just slightly above the sofa, and a pair of purple grape earrings with shining halos.

Manks still recognized them as magic jewelry, and the little pearl fan in her hand inadvertently made a sound, and she hurried to release her grip.

The always silent Kelben’s deep voice resounded, ”I am very pleased to welcome the esteemed Lady Elaströ and the great Storm Queen together with everyone.”

With a wave of his hand, plates of fruit and snacks appeared in front of all the sofas.

Various bottles of colorful alcohol also appeared at the center of the tables.

A small table unfolded next to the throne on the main stage, with fruits and wine glasses on it.

”Please enjoy, everyone...”

Xinbu directly interrupted his words: ”Just how many have you offended? The wine glasses have already been poisoned... only yours.”
