Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1179: Chapter 970: Deepwater City’s Uncertain Future

After all, everyone can see now that in terms of strength, even combined, they’re no match for the Undead Tribe.

Their attendants, except for the two meant for close protection, aren’t as useful as imagined.

At least Luca still has one high-level loyal guard by his side and an attendant for personal service, so they can only make do with this.

For now, they can only let the guards sent from home join them along the way.

Though it’s dangerous, neither Devis nor Luca plans to abandon this journey… seeking fortune through risk isn’t just aimed at the poor.

Pursuing great power naturally comes with the path of danger… finding a road with a definite outcome, they’re already stronger than those still groping in the dark.

Inheriting the school of magic from Azuth, they would never give up this promising future and hand over the opportunity to the people of Silvermoon City for nothing.

The Mistrala Elector and Azuth’s students have never gotten along from the beginning… especially with that bunch from Silvermoon City.

That’s a jealousy and resentment that has continued since the Black Eye period: Azuth often sent benefits from his own Sacred Land to his beloved lover, which, although belonging to the Deity of Mages, Azuth’s students had long since regarded as their own.

According to common sense, these resources would indeed be left to Azuth’s students.

But, who asked Mystra to be in Silvermoon City at that time?

What’s more important than making his beloved happy… Quel Senta, though a legacy of Azuth, never had a good relationship with the Northern Seven Sisters, because of this.

Azuth’s students aren’t ignorant of the fact that what the teacher gives is theirs, but that doesn’t stop them from resenting the Mistrala Electors.

Although Soma doesn’t quite understand these matters, he knows clearly that when competitors from Silvermoon City appear, they only have one road to go down… obediently following Edna’s arrangements.

So after hearing Edna’s words, he responded promptly and directly told the person behind him to pass the message… they indeed need to replenish some supplies, after all, there’s been enough deaths on Luca’s side, and things are certainly lacking.

The Tiger Person glanced at Nasir, who was smiling as he watched outside in the inn lobby, and said pointedly: “That gentleman… it’s nice if he can remain so leisurely, but… who knows when things might change?”

“As long as the Undead Tribe sticks with me, the Midnight Elect will only watch coldly from the sidelines and not do anything excessive,” Edna nodded to Nasir and said calmly, “What I need are quiet, obedient members who don’t cause trouble, after all… the unknown ahead is already enough of a headache for me.”

Soma tilted his head, a bit of confusion on his furry face… he somewhat didn’t understand what Edna meant.

Why are Devis and Luca, who merely have a little selfishness but no identity issues, less useful in this young lady’s eyes compared to Nasir, who is obviously a follower of Shaer?

Is she so sure that Shaer won’t turn against her during this journey?

The Goddess of the Night isn’t known for playing by the rules, is she?

Do you really think that lady would just watch Mystra’s resurrection quietly due to a bit of romance?

Everyone knows how much Shaer hates that Goddess of Midnight!

Edna wasn’t at all concerned with the Tiger Person’s look of being perplexed.

Of course, she can be sure that Shaer won’t turn against the team due to Mystra’s presence… if that lady really planned something, she could have acted long before Mystra regained any strength.

Shaer has never been the kind of so-called just figure to give opponents room to grow when they’re weak… seizing every opportunity is the Lady of the Night’s daily routine.

So, Edna instead finds Nasir and these Followers of the Night following her are more useful than the ever-unpredictable Devis and Luca.

At least… Nasir definitely won’t be swayed by some small favor from a deity, right?

Only a few could persuade the Midnight Elect to betray Shaer’s will, and if it comes to that, whoever replaces him would be the same, so it might as well be Nasir.

At least if something really happens, she Edna wouldn’t be the only one raging.

The little girl cheerfully set a time with the Sanda King and decided to go back to her room to get a good night’s sleep… after leaving Agleya, it might be hard to have a peaceful sleep.

Hill, who watched the whole process from the Floating Castle, smiled with satisfaction: List wisely sent all those books to Purwell for Fran to handle.

After all, at this time, even Fran wouldn’t come down to demand Hill to copy books… the future can wait for the future.

His grandfather has always been wise, ensuring his own silence no matter what has happened during this period.

“Hill,” Celene asked curiously, “you don’t seem to plan to manage the matters over in Luskan?”

“Laila has not asked for help, has she?” Hill replied unhurriedly.

“You really are one of The Wise Ones,” Celene said with a peculiar tone, “The matters over there… hmm, it’s not Laila that’s being watched, but those barbarians in Icewind Valley.

If Tampas makes a slight mistake this time, he might end up with nothing at all!

Hmm-hmm~”

So, was it aimed at that cunning God of Battle again?

Tampas…shouldn’t be a problem, right?

Hill has never seen a deity more fickle than this God of Battle!

It seems that although Tampas has always tried to lower his presence, AO has not given up targeting him…Thinking about it, it’s quite normal, after all, the private web on the God of Battle’s side does have a strong presence.

Let’s see if Tampas favors those barbarian followers or cherishes that portion of his divine power.

Hill looked towards the North with a bit of sympathy…This God of Battle has always been petty; this time he might truly feel what it means to be heartbroken.

He didn’t think much of it, just felt that the situation developing over in Luskan was a bit too swift…The major factions fighting against Sel and that Necromancer Regent Sazzastan had just lost the war over a month ago, and those sea ships are already nearing Luskan.

Moreover, different factions of the Red Robes have even set foot on the paths of the World’s Ridge with their vanguard.

Although it is because Agleya controlled the Sword Bay’s sea, allowing these ships to navigate it safely and quickly, their decision to relocate to Icewind Valley was made too hastily.

Even though they seem quite hasty…Otherwise, they wouldn’t have dared to cause trouble, knowing Laila is in Luskan: mainly these baldies with ferocious faces, male or female, always wanting to buy something worth 10 gold coins with just 1 gold coin, it seems they’re planning to stockpile living supplies in Icewind Valley.

But this isn’t Sel, who’s willing to lose money!

Thankfully, Luskan has alarms everywhere, it’s just that the Just Knights are a bit exhausted.

Laila hasn’t appeared for now, mainly because these troublemaking Red Robes are all low-level, and the issues they cause are minor incidents.

But if things were to escalate, no matter what secretive matters this Mistrala Elector is doing in her palace, she would definitely have to take action…Otherwise, according to ‘Snow Cloud Peak’s’ idea, the Undead Tribe would have to be stationed at Luskan.

I wonder what those top brass, who went to so much trouble to expel the Undead Tribe from Luskan, think facing the current situation.

Hill did not expect that ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ would hold such a grudge over the fact that the Undead Tribe had to withdraw from Luskan due to minor underhanded tactics, and is determined to return the slap.

Truly deserving of its reputation as the old dog with enemies across the world, never letting go of those who’ve wronged it, sharp-tongued and quick-witted.

But these matters have little to do with Hill…the Undead Tribe just wants revenge, and whatever happens is normal.

Since AO has enjoyed the benefits brought by the Undead Tribe, it should be fair to endure a little of their high spirits.

Sitting on the chair, Shaer suddenly said slowly, “That Edna seems to think I won’t make a move against her!”

“She probably pin her hopes on that William?” Celene chuckled and said, “Unless you plan to eliminate the Undead Tribe trailing her?

Edna isn’t worth that much, is she?”

“Currently, she isn’t…” Shaer pondered, “But she’s become more pleasing to the eye.”

Lansendel lazily changed his posture: “Want to bet on the fate of Deepwater City? I feel that the Tablets of Fate have a deep hostility towards the Sword Bay Area this time~

There’s no place at peace.

I’m quite curious~ What will it be like when the most prosperous City of Radiance in the Sword Bay Area falls.”

Hill couldn’t help but glance at the Lord of Dawn…Lansendel never had high expectations for Deepwater City from the start.

“I don’t know.” Celene said somewhat melancholically, “I’ve already instructed Deepwater City’s Silver Bishop to stay between the scepters with the devoted believers who trust me during this time, as long as their lives are safe.”

Shaer snorted coldly.

“I haven’t let the April Scepter broadcast that image recently!” Celene cheerfully took credit.

Shaer had no interest in dealing with her.

Hill could fully understand Lansendel’s approach of sleeping under his wings again…just like he was now, standing by the railing and gazing into the distance, wanting to diminish his presence.

Thankfully, both Shaer and Celene show great interest in Deepwater City’s future…They are convinced Deepwater City is bound to be unlucky, but they can’t think of any reason.

After all, there’s one obvious thing everyone knows…There are just three incarnations of strong divine power present with Agleya here.

Even though Shaer isn’t likely to save lives, Lansendel and Celene are deities who can be called upon by believers…The Dawn Temple and the Silvermoon Temple inside Deepwater City are both of notable fame!

These questions likely exist not only among them but also among many others slightly aware of the current situation.

So in the early hours of the next morning, when Edna left with her team, she truly felt a bit like having her back pricked by thorns.

The gazes from behind could almost set her beautiful little dress on fire.

Edna couldn’t help but smile, lightly floated up onto Elvia: “Let’s go~”
