Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1193: Chapter 984: Undercurrents in the Reception Hall

The chatting Edna suddenly fell silent, hesitating as she looked at Gendilarei: ”Although Xinbu is crazy, she wouldn’t provoke you, right?

Why do you hate her so much?”

”Speaks of it... I kind of hope she goes mad at the Floating Castle,” Nasir added thoughtfully.

No one would be surprised that the Night Cloak would think that way.

Gendilarei shrugged: ”Xinbu is very persistent in hunting down any Red Robe Mage that appears outside of Sel.

There have been several times when the Lord of Dawn was tracking down those bone-playing guys to eradicate them, but was interrupted by her, not to mention getting beaten for trying to prevent her from affecting civilians... Especially those Purple Aster Knights in red cloaks, she really dares to act!

But... after all, she is also preventing evil, and we can’t just kill her over this kind of thing, nor is it proper to settle scores with her later... Even with Lansendel’s backing, that kind of thing isn’t justifiable!

Still, it’s annoying. The Lords of the Tower of the Dawn over by the Starfall Ocean are actually very displeased with this, and sometimes really want to act against her.

Though it’s better here in Deepwater City, I too have had subordinates beaten, after all, my lord has always hoped to reclaim those ancient Elven Puzzle Lock cities.

Those places are quite mixed, and those penniless Red Robe Mages often go there scavenging, and Xinbu sometimes opens the door to pick a fight.”

Edna shook her head helplessly. Xinbu’s strength has a limit, she can only stop Sel’s attempts at reaching into her kingdom, not destroy that entire kingdom completely.

But Xinbu, having lost relatives due to Sel’s sneak attack, went mad because of it, so the easiest way for Red Robe Mages to die when roaming the Ferun Great Land, especially in past Elven relics, is to encounter the relaxing Storm Queen.

And Lansendel’s priests and his very famous Purple Aster Knight Order are also accustomed to roaming around striking evil to promote Lansendel’s noble deeds... If they happen to target the same enemy as Xinbu, getting a few Fireball Technique hits for getting in the way is a small matter.

After all, Lansendel’s protective fame is there, if Xinbu doesn’t want to face the Lord of Dawn summoned, she must be careful.

As for others, they would face Chain Lightning.

Gendilarei chuckled, ”My lord would surely be delighted to see her appearance.”

Edna glanced at him: ”Lansendel wouldn’t be bored, after all, both Celene and Shaer are present, one wrong word and you’ll experience what double beating means.”

Gendilarei raised his eyebrows, entirely unconcerned about Edna implying his Main God would get beaten at the Floating Castle. Based on his understanding of Lansendel, he wouldn’t suffer much.

As for minor losses, it doesn’t matter either, as long as their Main God is entertained enough: ”Isn’t it perfect to have some fun automatically delivered? It could also distract those two ladies.”

The ’Old Age Striking King’ interrupted their dull conversation: ”Why talk about impossible things? Even if those deities aren’t around, who would dare to fight against Hill?

Edna, you still have to attend that banquet, right?”

Edna smiled and nodded, but her tone wasn’t certain: ”That depends on whether the person who sent the invitation is willing to proceed.

Just now, Yaro clearly meant, as a direct disciple of Elaströ, he is inviting me as a peer... His invitation is in the name of a family junior, as long as he speaks up, it’s enough.

After all, Shadow Valley and Silvermoon City have now chosen to advance and retreat together.

But why should I agree?

I only acknowledge my identity as Agleya, all that past... is just meaningless history.

Xinbu’s temper isn’t good, she might be annoyed and refuse to invite me.”

”I don’t think so.” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ suddenly spoke, his magic wand pointing at the several men and women still performing outside the window, ”If she invited these guys too, no matter how bad that Queen’s temper is, she won’t be against you.

After all, whatever you do, there’s a reason for it.

And those appearing in front of us now, are all pollution.

If the Storm Queen can tolerate these things... she might even allow a Mage in a red robe to appear before her.”

”Hmm... speaking of which.” Gendilarei chuckled, ”Should I wear my red Sun Robe? Or the yellow Sun Robe?”

”Are you planning to go tonight too?” Olasco asked curiously, ”You usually don’t attend these evening banquets?”

”Who wants to attend those dull banquets from before?” Gendilarei rolled his eyes, ”Did they expect me to be a witness to their profit exchanges?

But today... besides the excitement, there’s the fun, for sure!”

”Why not wear pink?” Nasir said with a cheeky smile, ”I’ve never seen a pink sun robe before!”

Gendilarei paid him no mind.

”So, are we going back now?” The ’Old Age Striking King’ suddenly said, looking invigorated, ”I just thought of a little dress that matches the starlight one you just bought perfectly!

Though the other ones are nice too, let’s go back and try on clothes?”

”You can’t go in.” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ reminded him, leaning against the window, ”Bodyguards aren’t allowed inside; they can only stand guard at the door.”

The ’Old Age Striking King’s’ enthusiasm disappeared in an instant.

”I’ll take your livestream equipment inside instead.” Edna glanced at Snow Old Dog, quickly speaking to comfort the disappointed ’Old Age Striking King’, ”You can sit outside and watch the excitement. It’s not that interesting inside anyway, can’t eat or drink, can’t talk much.

Since you brought tables and chairs, you might as well set up a few outside with the tablet!”

The ’Old Age Striking King’ sighed and said, ”I intended to bring over a few sisters who bought the fifty thousand ones to accompany you in!

Totally boring, no fun at all.”

Edna looked at her friend who seemed to thrive on chaos in surprise: ”Well... there are a lot of dragons in Deepwater City, steel dragons are just one part.”

”Nosy banquets always end up in fighting, right?” The ’Old Age Striking King’ said idly, ”What’s the point of a banquet if there’s no fight?”

Nasir quietly said to Gendilarei, ”No wonder you Lansendel types love playing with the Undead Tribe!”

Gendilarei glanced at Night Cloak... your Chosen ones have joined in the rounds too, does Shaer also love the fun?

Nasir’s expression didn’t change, his eyes full of sincerity... We have reasons on our side, it’s because of the Divine Artifact!

Look at Hydra! See how much good stuff got taken back! Even the temporary deployments of Iltmara and Helderstal left with spoils, at the very least they shattered the Spider Magic Net.

You guys... aside from fun, what benefits did you get?

Gendilarei understood Night Cloak’s hint, smiled slightly, ”Foolish young man, my Lord’s joy is the greatest treasure.”

Nasir glanced left and right, then hid behind Leonard, who seemed dazed all day, before speaking straightforwardly, ”So... if there’s no fight tonight, are you planning to create some fun yourself?

I always feel you really want Black Staff Tower to fall.

A heavy hostility, not from the Lord of Dawn...”

Gendilarei lifted his eyelids slightly, ”What do you think, Olasco?”

”I’m willing to stay to the end because I want to see if Kelben is willing to face difficulty with Deepwater City.” Olasco leaned against the counter with his tall frame, arms crossed with a smirk.

Edna, wearing silver-gray Mage Robes and holding a small intricately carved sandalwood fan, entered the circular reception room next to Black Staff Tower with Leonard, led by a thoroughly proper attendant, all while thinking: the Lords of Deepwater City hoping to see Black Staff Tower collapse today might have their hopes dashed.

It seems Kelben knew that reviving before the prophecy’s conclusion had crossed too many people.

No matter how many little schemes the Lords of Deepwater City may have, they all depend on the existence of the City of Radiance.

So when Deepwater City, aside from Kelben, remains intact, they invite pirates in for power and profit, aiming to wipe out the opponent’s entire family.

Unexpectedly, everyone shared the same notion... the final result was, when the Mage Masters fell silent due to the shattering of the Weave, the pirates actually outnumbered all the guards of Deepwater City combined and did away with everyone!

After all, they came to kill, not protect employers.

Now all the dark currents in Deepwater City are focused on how to give Kelben a brutal hit while transferring assets.

Including dragons and representatives from various major factions stationed in Deepwater City.

Edna saw the female ambassador from the Shulong Empire, with a severe expression staring at the hall’s two dazzling pearl-covered doors, her fingers constantly sliding on a silver folding fan... it’s more a dagger made into a fan than a simple folding fan.

Even the usually discordant ambassador from the Wo Empire, a short middle-aged man with a mustache and a somber disposition, was standing chatting with her this time, one hand fiddling with a ring on the other hand... Edna’s eyes could see it was a device for launching hidden weapons, the deep green wasn’t jade, but rather poisoned.
