Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1166: Chapter 957: Steel Dragons Wanting to Retreat

Rose was indeed growing more and more furious… The giant black spider looked up at the sky; the bright, gigantic moon of Toril shone brightly, and there were still hours until dawn.

But even if it gets to dawn, whether those Steel Dragons dare to act is still a question.

Celene actually came out openly to assist Shaer… Even though she beheaded Villon, on the surface it was Elisui!

That dark maiden whom Celene had cared for so attentively for so long, and yet Celene so ruthlessly struck her down.

While Rose found it strange, she didn’t think much more of it, even if Villon suddenly went mad in defiance of her will, her monstrous heart thought it quite normal, as that guy usually behaved so bizarrely.

She herself was cruel enough, so she didn’t think Villon would spare Elisui who destroyed his physical body.

So in Rose’s mind, Villon by now should have already grasped all the divinity of both himself and the dark maiden.

Once he gets hold of this divinity… the Zholar, regardless of their desire to break free from her grasp, would ultimately kneel before her statue!

The black spider inhaled sharply, her immense venom sac slowly changing color with her respiring until it settled on a deep dark green… a toxin with disease factors, acquired at a great cost from Talona!

Even if she didn’t believe that the Goddess of Toxins and Diseases could truly poison even a great divine power… If she really had this ability, would that madwoman Talona not spread it?

But Rose felt, even with just half its potency, it would still be enough to deal with the Lady of the Night!

She needed to seize the time!

After those sisters chopped off Villon’s head they didn’t take it away… If she knew what Hill saw here, she’d probably have fled already.

Silvermoon and the Dark Night each controlled a part of the power of illusion, so when together, they could make people see whatever they wanted to be seen… even AO could be fooled.

For them, illusions were almost an instinct, an innate skill of mind following intent, and intent reaching the heart.

Rose merely observed through the eyes of the Wax Melt Demon, so being deceived was only natural.

“Hmm… Rose’s behavior seems a bit off, why is she heading toward the corpse on the ground?” Lansendel tilted his head, asking Hill standing beside him, “Is there something crafted by Celene and Shaer in this garden of yours?”

“Hmm?” Hill blinked, saying somewhat confusedly, “I guess there might be…”

When they had first arrived, these sisters fought quite frequently. Though most of the energy turned into Stones of Chaos, some always scattered into the surrounding flowers, trees, water pools, sculptures, and even stone tables and sofas; the Floating Castle itself being strengthened was quite typical.

Lansendel spread his wings: “Rose might be caught in an illusion. It’s not possible they only deceived Rose alone.

Though I have the ability to see through illusions, it doesn’t guarantee I can combat their joint efforts.

There must be something here aiding me for me to unwittingly witness it all.”

The Great Peacock suddenly stretched his head in front of Hill: “And you… remarkably unaffected?

Coron doesn’t have such power. Even if he had half your ability, he wouldn’t be deceived by Rose into ruin, family broken apart.

I’m getting more and more curious about your lineage!”

Hill quietly stared at the large bird head before him, and after a brief contemplation, said: “With Shaer and Celene not here, Coron might be able to see what you’re talking about.”

The Sun Peacock, whose happy flapping wings suddenly froze, then continued to fan himself: “Ah! If it’s Coron, having a fight’s no problem, as long as those three goddess amalgamations from his family don’t show up.”

Hill looked at him somewhat perplexedly.

“The complete virtues they lack, they’ve all entrusted to their amalgamation,” Lansendel seemingly said quietly, “Oh my… that image of Holy Light illuminating, even AO would want to flee~

Having selfish motives is what makes a real being, right?

Um… is this why the current God Queen of Elves has so few followers!

Who can tolerate a deity preaching grand ideals all the time and constantly professing love?

Faith is either about aligning with a deity’s path or seeking some benefit from the deity… even asking for help is a form of benefit!

But to have no selfish motives at all… sigh, being a goody-two-shoes entity, truly, Tyr and Ilmarte are the limits of what normal people can tolerate!

But these two, especially Ilmarte… how should I put it, it’s because of his past that he bears the suffering of mortals; even if some people don’t approve, they understand and respect his choice.

That elf one… too phony, talking with her is a kind of torture.”

Hill smiled awkwardly, having nothing to say about that. Those three elf goddesses, the reason they created such a God Queen… plainly speaking, it’s simply because none of them wanted to take the position themselves!

Just use her when needed, she even bore children with Coron, what’s he gonna say?

But when there’s no need, they all go about their separate lives!

Without Rose’s determination to endure for power, who would want a husband like Coron!

Why go for a pretty boy, only to bring a husband who might outshine you in beauty and stature?

However, Hill really didn’t know how deities other than elves viewed the Goddess Queen!

He always found it strange why the Goddess Queen, who appeared the most merciful and loving, had the fewest followers. Most of her followers were priests from the other three deities who spontaneously performed rituals for her, occasionally cleaning altars and hosting holy day ceremonies.

Didn’t expect to hear a bit of truth from the Lord of Dawn.

Hill pondered; he didn’t have that feeling, perhaps due to remnants of the past… his past nation liked creating such deities, high above, without flaws or emotions.

For ordinary folks, deities are an emotional solace; even if there is no return, it doesn’t matter.

But here in Toril, deities are perceivable entities, so ordinary people only choose deities they can understand to offer their faith… They can understand the misdeeds of the Evil God but can’t comprehend the selflessness of the Kind God.

“Oh~ Shaer, tsk tsk, it’s gonna be bad!” Lansendel’s gentle call interrupted Hill’s thoughts. As he peered over, he understood why Lansendel said that… Below Shaer’s throne, a vast stretch of mud was slowly forming.

A swirling violet mist spread beneath Shaer’s feet, and this goddess’s once leisurely expression suddenly became terrifying.

At this moment, everyone understood who Rose had summoned… Gunnard, Eye of the Ancients, the deity worshipped by giant slugs, slime monsters, giant slugs, and other creepy crawlies.

Rose’s former suitor… a giant mass of reddish-purple mucus.

Hill silently turned his head in another direction: It’s said that the purple mist has a very peculiar odor, enough to make the demon lords of the Bottomless Abyss nauseous.

He genuinely felt some sympathy for the Lady of the Night.

“Sir,” List suddenly appeared, “Celene has gone to the Alchemy Hall to hire the Wild Boar Legion of the Black Rose.”

“Huh?” Hill nearly fell off the railing in surprise, “What is she planning?”

“Wild boars… best at rooting through mud?” Lansendel mused, “Anyway, Gunnard is difficult to kill but lacks other skills.”

Hill glanced at the Lord of Dawn: “Difficult to kill?”

“Don’t assume that mucus slug is his true form. Actually, one small slime monster in that pile of mud is his true form.

Moreover, he can switch his possession at any time.

Ugh~.” Lansendel briefly glanced over and blocked his view with a wing, “Forget it, I can’t endure this joke. I’d rather go back to sleep.

Still, let’s leave this precious experience to those sisters~

Gee, Rose is ruthless!

Everyone knows Gunnard ended up like this because he fell for her trap!

Even manipulated her own suitor, no, rather, she even wants to devour the mucus slug?”

The Lord of Dawn couldn’t hide his amazement: “Even if she wanted to become the Underworld Master, simply making Gunnard her Lesser God would suffice!

She… was once a famously beautiful woman!

Actually… oh my gosh, just thinking about it makes me shiver all over!”

The giant peacock paced back and forth on the platform, shedding his feathers as he walked, seemingly infested with fleas.

Then suddenly, he panicked and clambered onto the railing: “Where did so many wild boars come from? And they’re all magical creatures?

Hill? Your previous world, specialized in pig farming?”

Hill silently watched as hundreds of thousands of wild boars rushed out from his territory, his mouth twitching lightly: “No… they just reproduce.

He remembered before leaving Teraxil, the Wild Boar Legion was a legion of ten thousand… has it multiplied by ten?

No wonder ‘Old Age Striking King’ said last time, ‘Cunlü’ had retired from the scene… too elevated, no one dares provoke it.

An endless silver-blue moonlight enveloped those rapidly charging into the mud pit… The fastest were already snorting and rolling around.

Some large boars seemed to find the mud pit less comfortable and, without hesitation, spewed lotuses… expanding the mud pit area.

Shaer retreated over a thousand meters with a serious expression… This was her first retreat since courageously engaging in battle today.

But no one thought there was anything amiss.

Hill gently turned his head toward the Sea of Swords… The steel dragons crouching on the bay islands suddenly erupted into a massive dispute.

Female steel dragons were entirely unwilling to enter the mud pits for a divine artifact they hadn’t yet acquired… If Shaer could even handle Gunnard, why would they go? Right?

But as the foolish male dragons firmly rejected Gunnard’s strength, the female dragons finally erupted in fury: Pretending to be clueless? That’s tens of thousands of high-level wild boars! Just the thought makes dragons shudder, right?

Indeed, these pigs can’t best them, but who wants to fight against so many wild boars?

Anyway, they decided not to go.
