Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1185: Chapter 976: Edna, the Future Mayor of Hidden Town

Hill, already seated, couldn’t help but turn his head to look… that Great Peacock is truly proud!

He silently turned back, deepening his sense of the danger Lansendel posed.

It’s truly frightening… As one of the few remaining Ancient Gods in Toril, only one Chosen has survived to this day… Even the fallen Mystree still has an Elminster!

Shaer couldn’t help but sit up slightly from her black veiled couch, a hint of incredulity on her face: “Lansendel, are you really proud?

Even I… have more than one Chosen still alive.”

“How is that the same?” the Lord of Dawn said, extraordinarily shocked, “Your Chosen were taken out by you for rebelling!

My Chosen valiantly sacrificed themselves for our common cause!

Don’t you check how many past Chosen are in your Divine Kingdom?

Tsk tsk, even your believer dares to ask whose Divine Kingdom has more followers?

Do you really think… you have that many?”

Shaer glanced at him lightly, showing no anger, and slowly reclined back: “It’s unnecessary for me to speak with you.”

Shaer’s requirements for her followers were always just compliance, never considering loyalty… inward defiance didn’t matter as long as they worked honestly.

Whoever wants to talk about the connection between faith and loyalty with the Evil Faction… Well, they might consider brainwashing spells, something like Santarin’s use of Eye Demons to directly implant false signals would be quite effective.

Lansendel is truly foolish, not even knowing how to attack her… Saying Nasir is probably dead and can only go to Hell, not entering the Shadow Realm, would be stronger than this pointless talk.

Celene understands though… But between the Lord of Dawn and her own sister, does she even need to ask whom to choose?

Shaer is her other half.

No matter how many hundred thousand years the Maiden of the Moon might battle her sister, she would never choose to help others against Shaer.

So she shifted the topic right away: “What’s happening over in Harua? Surely you aren’t unaware?

Is there any secret in this world that you don’t know?

So… did you already know about this Manks?”

“No,” Shaer said bluntly, “One part is that the dark network I established in Harua is practically defunct… You wouldn’t think those Mages, who joined my Faction to switch to the Shadow Weave, would be reliable, would you?

When the Shadow Weave couldn’t be used, they’d naturally choose other directions.

Also, when the world collapsed, Harua was severely damaged, even the Royal Palace in the capital exploded… Now that Mage King was lucky, being absent at the time.

Therefore, he couldn’t gain public support, and Harua became a mess. The only task for my people left there is to create even more chaos.

That country is practically doomed.

Otherwise, why would I choose to take back the Divine Artifact and give it to Hydra?

Harua, this Mage Kingdom, its best outcome in the future is to be rebuilt after a collapse and be reclaimed by the Goddess of Magic.

Or it’ll depend on who they eventually follow… Hmm, it seems at least a part chose Hell Spells.

It’s truly interesting… they’d rather turn to Hell than plan to return to Mystra’s fold?

What did Midnight do to them back then, oh~

Hmm… speaking of it, Visaron always seemed to have a bit of involvement with Hell?”

After Shaer’s rare long speech, she suddenly curled her lips into a sarcastic smile: “Moreover, sometimes, there’s always someone who goes to great lengths not wanting me to know too much!

Especially now, fearing I’ll let something slip!”

That someone… everyone naturally understands.

Celene accepted it as a matter-of-fact… compared to Shaer, she was kept more in the dark, probably for fear that her broad social network might reveal too many things.

Celene had felt this before… as the Maiden of the Moon, losing any Divinity is normal… but even losing Moonlight?

Probably devised to specifically blind her, wasn’t it?

“I don’t quite understand,” but anyway, it’s all in the past, Celene didn’t mind… the most important thing now is the fun around Edna, “Why Harua?

Although it’s chaotic there, being the center of Mystra’s faith, shouldn’t it be more stable when the Weave is at its weakest?”

“If Mystra has issues, Harua naturally is fine.” Shaer understands AO’s methods a bit better; otherwise, she wouldn’t seize every chance to cause trouble, “But now this one, seems steady, doesn’t it!

As long as she is the center point, the Weave won’t explode.

Why not take advantage of this to solve some leftover problems?

Harua, established after Mystree’s fall, had too many ways to bypass the Weave’s barriers.

Heh heh~

Half of the private networks of the Deities were already dealt with, and Tampas was also looking doomed, do you think they’d overlook Harua that way?”

“If it involves Visaron, then Talos must have a part in it!” Celene suddenly laughed, “The Destroyer Gods have been playing dead all this time, I thought they wanted to give up meddling in this Path of Destiny!

Looks like Talos might be planning to do something through Visaron… tsk tsk, then basically no one’s private network can exist anymore!

Interesting indeed~”

“It’s the same old story!” Lansendel suddenly sighed, “Whoever has greed will meet their doom.”

Shaer coldly chuckled, “As long as it’s not you.”

Lansendel suddenly flapped his wings and flew around the rooftop garden, then displayed his beautiful feathers in front of Shaer, “Is there something wrong with me?”

Shaer simply conjured a black mist in front of herself.

Hill nonchalantly pointed at the giant screen and said, “Edna seems to have thought of something. Has she already established a connection with the Weave?”

In the giant screen, Edna was seriously asking, “Nasir, let’s forget about recent events, but you surely know what happened a few years ago, right?

Mystra’s temple on Tarlas Mountain wasn’t blown up by the Magicplague, was it?

Are those caverns still shrouded in blue and white light? Is that blue Mage’s Fire still illuminating the starry sky?

Has that Mystic Lady Grelira Sotoyne appeared in recent years?”

“Even though Mage King Harua changed twice, Tarlas Mountain hasn’t changed at all.” Nasir readily replied, “Every time a new king transitions, Grelira still shows up to have a look. The presence of the Mystic Lady is too obvious to be replaced.”

Edna nodded, “Then it can only wait for time to reveal the truth.

We’ll stay in Deepwater City for now to observe the situation.

Though Grelira served Mystra for a long time, after all, she was just a High Priest and didn’t become a Chosen.

And… the Weave in Harua always had some flaws, not to mention now after it’s shattered and reassembled, there must be some problems there.

Grelira probably can’t really judge.

But I doubt she would change the surname for that lady herself; it’s likely something that new Mage King in Harua conjured.

The appearance of this Miss Manske will surely draw Mystra’s Chosen from the North.

Hehe… even if they don’t believe it, they have to come and see!

Would they dare to do what Kelben doesn’t dare to?

Except for Elminster who is still in the Outer Realm, I estimate that Deepwater City will soon become lively.

How interesting… if someone is really stirring up trouble behind the scenes… is Deepwater City’s future left only with a countdown?”

“Edna.” The ‘Old Age Striking King’, who had been sitting to the side, suddenly spoke, “Will Laila have to come too?”

“Mm!” Edna gently nodded, “Even Elaströ has to come herself. In front of Mystra, she can’t say that Silvermoon City is the most important thing anymore.

Unless she wants to give up her identity as a Chosen.”

“Why doesn’t she give it up?” Leonard was a bit puzzled, “The Archmages in our Magic Tower often say that she’s already been abandoned by the current Mystra!

She’s not lacking in power, so why suffer this?”

“Um… Nature Mage…” Gendilarei carefully looked at Leonard before sighing, “Indeed, born as an Elf, all spoiled by Coron.

Becoming a Chosen, and still able to regain their own faith?

Only you Elves can do this without getting killed, right?”

Edna patted Leonard sitting next to her, “Don’t listen to him.

Lansendel’s Chosen must be those most sincere in their faith.

Just remember this: Elaströ can’t possibly give up her eternally youthful and beautiful face.”

Edna swallowed a sentence, deciding to remember to say it once her status allows: Who can remain a Chosen following Lansendel for tens of thousands of years if not a fanatic?

Not for now; she still wants to watch the show!

As the Old Age Striking King said, patience is like cutting at one’s heart with a knife… so when you can’t hold it anymore, make sure to quickly and accurately carve up the person who provoked you!

“Oh~” Leonard nodded in realization. Elves never had this kind of pain, so they don’t care about these issues.

“What I mean is…” The ‘Old Age Striking King’ was always patient with Edna and didn’t mind people veering off topic, “Shouldn’t Sharol come along with Laila?

Jade Pot Inn probably can’t accommodate them. If they want to come to the side building, what do you think?”

“What does it have to do with me?” Edna smiled strangely, “We’ve already split the family.”

“I see.” The ‘Old Age Striking King’ nodded and started swiping on his tablet, “I’ll notify those guarding the main hall below, and Luskan’s people have to be blocked as well.”

“If there’s an official document, I’ll still have to see the situation.” Edna looked up and added, “After all, on the day I become an adult, Hidden Town will be registered under my name, already reported to other cities’ governors, including Kalinsan’s Vila.

The Mithril Elves don’t want their return to attract too much attention. At this stage, it’s fine, but later when the Magic Ships can enter, they’re worried that enemy from the Outer Plane will follow.”
