Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1177: Chapter 968: Edna Returns with a Full Harvest

Edna tilted her head, watching her undead friend engaged in lively conversation, suddenly chuckled… casting aside the envy and yearning that arose upon witnessing Midnight and Kranvo’s love, along with a faint trace of discontent.

The love between those two was indeed real, yet also too unrealistic… Apart from love, why couldn’t they just focus on romance without getting involved in such terrifying destiny?

Edna still couldn’t discern from Midnight’s memories what led the couple to choose the path of destiny… if Midnight was truly indifferent to fame and fortune as she believed herself to be.

Edna thought Midnight was somewhat self-deceptive… wanting to be renowned like Elminster isn’t wrong, it’s just that both she and Kranvo oversimplified the matter.

They possess grand ambitions but lack Elminster’s sharp intellect and emotional intelligence.

Cyric’s betrayal was destined from the start… a person like that can’t be suppressed by mere strength.

Moreover, Midnight and Kranvo’s power wasn’t formidable enough to intimidate this thief.

Consequently, they both ended up with a tragic fate, and after becoming deities, they still had to discern who was right or wrong, who loved whom more, neither cherishing the beautiful life nor pondering how to break free from each other’s binds, hoping to eventually find a way to be together.

Edna pointed at a tortoiseshell comb set inlaid with black crystals, requesting a trial.

She deftly inserted the five-piece comb set into her long and thick brown hair, tied in two braids at the back. Standing before the full-length mirror, she admired how beautiful and lovely she was!

Why bother with so much?

She is Edna now, she only needs to consider her own future.

Those unknown emotions, just wait until all the soul shards are collected, then ponder them!

Edna sighed, again glanced at the expensive starry jewelry, yet upon retracting her gaze, the young girl noticed the large ‘Book Acquisition’ sign by the door beside the jewelry.

She suddenly recalled the rumor she once heard… Lord Hill very much likes acquisitions of various ancient books, and his prices are absolutely the highest on the Toril Continent.

Gazing fixedly at the celestial jewels in the display case, Edna touched her small ring… Candlekeep actually isn’t an indispensable place to go, right?

Edna left Hill’s Strange Objects Shop with satisfaction… leaving behind hundreds of books transcribed since childhood, taking away celestial jewels and the tortoiseshell comb set, along with a dozen small stories of the Lady of the Night and the Maiden of the Moon that intrigued her.

Oh, when she passes through Kalinsan, she definitely needs to have a good conversation with Queen Vila of the Little Fairies!

Later, Leonard who came in bought even more books… Hill sold transcriptions, and many books priced at hundreds of gold coins each were actually quite cost-effective for him.

Candlekeep wouldn’t sell so many books to an ordinary mage even if they had them!

As a Nature Mage, he’s more accustomed to tying soft vines around his head… natural leaves are indeed wonderful decorative items.

Leonard walked past the jewelry counter without glancing sideways: How infuriating! How could someone place such expensive and beautiful jewelry next to a bookshop?

He glanced lightly again and again, warning himself to definitely forget about this shop when recounting his travel stories at home… Otherwise, his father might kick him out before going bankrupt.

Luckily, he had plenty of money for buying books, but Leonard also had to leave behind a dozen Magic Books from the Tower of Nature that could be shared externally.

Thank goodness Hill’s book acquisition prices are much higher than sales!

Elvia and Josanie didn’t feel Edna’s pain of emptying her pockets… They wouldn’t enter such a place to spend money, especially a troublesome place where even the thought of robbery doesn’t arise.

Dragons never spend money unless they can reclaim it later.

“Edna.” The ‘Old Age Striking King’ didn’t intend to dissuade the young girl from buying that set of exquisite jewelry… Hill’s strange object jewelry, the appearance has always been just supplemental value.

That jewelry set is nearly comparable to a complete set of Ein Stones, providing certain enhancement to Edna’s capabilities.

Among the undead tribe’s equipment, it’s a rare luxury.

If Hill hadn’t released these items so quickly, even affluent women would need to consider, how could this jewelry set stay until the third day!

For a young girl who needs to venture across the continent, it’s quite a good deal… 500,000 gold coins is definitely worth every penny.

But she still asked cautiously: “How much money do you have left?

Do you need to take some from me?

Once we leave Agleya, I can’t provide you economic support anymore!

William doesn’t allow us to have monetary exchanges with employers after taking on guard missions.

It’s probably due to Toril’s World Rules binding us undead tribe.

At this time, don’t be overly courteous~ if needed, you must speak up.

Don’t suffer on the road because of a bit of pride in the future.”

Edna laughed: “Rest assured! Sanda King Sister~ I sold Hill hundreds of books! They are the kind he specifically requested!

I don’t even need to dip into my small purse, my money is sufficient!”

Edna felt a bit guilty thinking that the money in the bracelet was unknown to anyone, which meant it practically didn’t exist… Even though her savings decreased by 200,000, tens of thousands of gold coins should be enough for her to travel the world, right?

Besides, people make money from their adventures, so mine should be possible too!

Edna cheerfully put on the set of stardust accessories, then brushed past the mages from Silvermoon City and Shadow Valley, who stared at her in shock.

The female mage named River was almost stunned with her eyes wide: “What she has on, is the 500,000 gold stardust set?”

Before meeting Lynn, they had, of course, already visited the world-renowned Strange Objects Shop of Lord Agleya… After all, that lord almost bankrupted Kelben without ever leaving his store!

If Black Staff hadn’t withdrawn quickly, never intending to compete with Lord Agleya for the market, he’d probably be selling his tower to survive by now!

Yaro looked confused at the face of the Shadow Valley female mage, distorted with jealousy, and quickly realized her thoughts, speaking sternly: “Her biological father is a son of Azuth.

Have you forgotten who Azuth is?

When he was an Archmage, he could already craft divine artifacts!

The Ring of Winter is so famous, didn’t you know? And at that time, he hadn’t even met Mystra!

It’s only normal for his child to be wealthy, right?

From Azuth’s behavior of staying in Quel Senta without moving, it shows he is sure he left enough for his daughter.

Also, why don’t you question Lord Agleya’s wealth?

When would a Strange Objects Crafting Master be without money?

River, you’d better discard that arrogance in your heart… It’s obvious, in Edna’s mind, she leans more towards Azuth, otherwise she wouldn’t be so indifferent to those from Elaströ Silver Palace!

She doesn’t even recognize Elaströ, let alone Elaströ’s sisters!

Our assumptions were almost all wrong!

Initially, we thought she’d cherish those good old times raised in Silvermoon City, but it seems she only remembered the hatred.

You don’t think Laila means anything to her, do you?

Laila protects Sharol, but never this little girl, or how would she have grown up in the city of elves?

Be smart!

If you keep being foolish, I’ll directly send a message to Twisted Tower… Don’t worry, the harpists might not be the strongest, but they’re definitely fast at delivering a message!”

River lowered her head slightly: “I understand. I just feel a bit unbalanced, that a little girl without any skill can possess so much.

It’s good to have a lineage!

We’ve come so far, paid so much… yet don’t have even half the assets she holds!”

Yaro stared at her for a few moments and finally understood why this Archmage was acting so abnormal.

He sneered twice: “That’s a not-yet-16 Eighth Ring Mage. When you were 16… Forget it, you’d definitely say her strength comes from her lineage.

If you’re nitpicking about even this…”

Yaro looked at the dissatisfied face and swallowed back the words on the tip of his tongue: If River continues being so foolish, transcendent, for her, might only be achievable through side jobs.

But there are countless people in Twisted Tower with such transcendence.

River’s current status is due to being young, smart, and capable, very likely on a direct path to true transcendence in the mage profession… And to become one of the power holders in Twisted Tower or even Shadow Valley, this is the only route.

So many mages chose to leave Shadow Valley, even becoming liches, essentially because there was no path for advancement left there.

Yaro had been cautious with River hearing she had this potential all along… But now it seems, while the potential might be strong, her temperament falls short.

No wonder those guys from Shadow Valley are silent, letting River take the lead.

It’s an easy solution to eliminate a competitor, why wouldn’t they be happy?

tsk, tsk.

It has nothing to do with him, but… he’ll need to maintain enough politeness towards River in the future.

Edna was unaware of the conflict stirred because of this jewelry set, she certainly didn’t hate Silvermoon City, but even Midnight’s highly praised Kelben in her eyes was no better than a dog or pig, and Elaströ, whom Midnight didn’t really like, couldn’t leave much of an impression on her.

As for those past lives in Silvermoon City, mentioning them seemed meaningless.

After all, the Supreme Lady hardly had time to see her own child, let alone the child’s child… Edna recalled the past and realized the little girl had fewer chances to see Elaströ than any of her thousands of male pets.
