Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1153: Chapter 945: The Tablets of Fate Are Really Playing Tricks

When Lynn brought the Shadow Energy Core, a golden Great Peacock was already lounging in Hill’s rooftop garden.

Meanwhile, Celene, who had been hiding in the moonlight, chose the graceful form of a beauty in white upon seeing the imposing Maiden of the Dark Night seated on the Seat of Sakuxier, and then leisurely reclined on a crescent moon chair formed by the moonlight.

Although her pose was beautiful, Shaer didn’t spare her a glance, seemingly still annoyed.

As for the two gentlemen, their heads were turned away from the castle… a man and a deity shared a silent agreement not to get involved in the conflict between those two.

Beauty might be alluring, but if the beauty is Celene and Shaer is seated opposite, it’s called a Shura Field, and the wise stay far away.

However, it seemed AO’s control over these three was no longer that strict… well, they’d already teamed up to battle the Lady of Pain, causing a shock in the Stellar Realm and beyond, and there wasn’t much need to hide their existence anymore.

Especially Lansendel, who still didn’t know the full situation, had even engaged in friendly exchanges with Edna… and remained oblivious.

Hill felt the same, perhaps because he knew Edna’s identity, seeing a wealth of expressions on her face… knowing her identity, one could almost glimpse the girl’s inner thoughts.

Hill felt Edna had been constantly muttering to herself, phrases like ‘My god!’, ‘How could it be?’, ‘How could I mess up like this?’, ‘Is this really me?’ and so on.

But others might not feel it, as merely seeing Lansendel and Celene assisting Shaer in battle was shocking enough, and with news of Shaer’s new love interest, no matter how the audience reacted, it seemed normal.

Otherwise, AO would have intervened.

Seeing Lynn walking out of the study with a serious expression, staring straight ahead, Hill couldn’t help but chuckle, quickly moving forward to take the metal sphere placed in the Purple Crystal Box from his hands.

Lynn retreated respectfully until he entered the study and then quickly turned to leave.

Hill puzzledly raised his head and looked: Lynn seemed overly cautious.

“He’s the Chosen of the Singer, isn’t he?” Lansendel said lazily, “Now Miliel’s probably about to explode with anger. Who doesn’t know he’s been helping Celene sing and play instruments?

He wouldn’t feel ashamed, but definitely wouldn’t want to be dragged out by Shaer to testify.”

Hill nodded in realization, and then shook his head in resignation: “Words spoken by the Lady of the Night require no evidence.”

“Ha~” Shaer laughed happily, “Well said.”

Celene didn’t speak… she was quite aware of her own mistakes, but when at the wrong time, she couldn’t help but speak.

Hill turned to hand the Purple Crystal Box to Shaer.

Seeing Shaer put away the Shadow Energy Core, Celene couldn’t contain her urge to speak: “Shaer, this thing is useless to you, isn’t it?

Are you planning to awaken the Salen Sprite inside it?”

Hill silently glanced at Celene, pondering the meaning behind the Maiden of the Moon’s words… she seemed convinced Shaer would never let her followers use the Shadow Energy Core.

This corrupted Mithril Energy Core typically could only use spells from the Shadow Demon Network… even within a magic-free zone.

The Haber Family failed to unleash its full power this time because the Shadow Demon Network virtually doesn’t exist now.

To Shaer, even if she didn’t control the Shadow Demon Network anymore, it wouldn’t impact her personally, as she didn’t need to rely on the network to use the Shadow Force.

So why would she rather leave the Shadow Energy Core to rot in the Shadow Realm than let her Chosen use it?

Did the multi-personality Salen Sprite pose any harm to Shaer?

Hill quickly collected his wandering thoughts… what Shaer intended to do had nothing to do with him.

Yet, Shaer casually mentioned: “The Salen Sprite possesses a personality that belongs to Agatha… saying personality is not accurate, because out of the many souls swallowed by the Shadow Energy Core, only three of the strongest remain, unable to consume one another.”

Hill blinked, with only one Agatha drawing Shaer’s attention… the Oracle who wrote the high-grade artifact, Book of Darkness.

It’s said that the knowledge in this book, claimed to be the Dark Ages Chronicle, originated from Shaer’s will, prophesying numerous dreadful events.

Readers of this book could understand the most unknown secrets of the Lady of the Night.

Shaer cursed the book, making it hard to comprehend unless granted permission by her… no magical means can translate it, including the Wishing Spell… and her Chosen can’t even see the Book of Darkness.

Celene naturally knew who Agatha was, but questioned: “Isn’t it normal for Prophecy Mage to occasionally foresee the stream of fate?

An Oracle like Agatha, who frequently looks towards the Primordial Darkness, might occasionally resonate with it, but she’d go mad after seeing it, wouldn’t she?

Moreover, doesn’t she lack the memories of the book’s contents?”

Shaer quietly laughed: “I never paid much attention to her, otherwise, how could that thing have ended up with Bane back then?

But if there’s a chance to capture her, I wouldn’t miss it.

What if she sees something again?”

Celene reacted quickly: “You… think you’ve changed, so you’re worried another Book of Darkness might appear?”

Shaer did not deny it.

Hill silently retreated, glancing at the Alchemy Hall in Agleya City, filled with mixed emotions… what could make Shaer feel her future had changed?

Even though Hill always knew William was full of admiration for Shaer, Hill always felt that besides the position of a sycophant, William could never gain anything.

As long as he insists on his divinity of fairness and justice, he can never end up with Shaer.

Hill doesn’t think William will change.

But… who could have thought that Shaer would be willing to change some of her ways?

Hill still doesn’t believe the two of them will end up together, but the fact that Shaer is willing to make some effort for it is enough to let William smile in content even in death!

This is Shaer, who has been fighting against her own sister for tens of thousands of years over the Sun!

The acid in Hill’s heart is almost about to overflow from his mouth.

Lansendel, who had been listening all along, suddenly spoke: “That William… is the one somewhat like Tyr, right? Just younger than Tyr and not as stubborn.

But they still act a bit similarly… requiring more from their own than from outsiders.”

Shaer laughed indifferently: “You’re overthinking it, what I do has nothing to do with William.

I never change because of others, if there is a change, it’s because of myself.

William indeed has significance for me, but he only triggered my change.

You two actually understand the difference between this, don’t you?

Especially Lansendel.”

Celene tilted her head: “Are you talking about the matter between him and Tai Ji?”

Hill silently stepped back a little… Turns out there’s some old gossip to listen to?

Lansendel’s face, covered by feathers, showed no expression: “Are you talking about the Dawn Calamity?

I was indeed too impulsive over Tai Ji’s demise.

I should have realized earlier that resurrecting her was meaningless.

Even though I’m still drawn to her, her controlling desire to manipulate every fate is something I definitely couldn’t accept.

But at that time, I regret not telling her before she vanished… it wasn’t that I disliked her. Even if I couldn’t accept her personality, I was still attracted to her.

Now I’ve accepted reality, I know Tymora and Benshasha will never become that Tai Ji.

But you were right as well, if I were as straightforward as you, perhaps many regrets wouldn’t have happened.”

Hill’s eyes quietly looked at the ground… So, you’re saying the near world-destroying Dawn Calamity was just because of your unwillingness?

If Heim heard this, he’d likely be so enraged he’d directly come charging down to fight Lansendel… His beloved Muldan indirectly died because of the Dawn Calamity.

Celene looked carefully at Shaer before speaking with a hint of reproach: “I never thought you would face your own change for a man.”

Shaer quickly composed her chaotic emotions, coldly smiling at her: “Why, for you? Why? Just because you brought Amanata?”

Lansendel covered his head with his huge wings, and the Floating Castle rang with a dull laughter.

Hill turned his head and pointed below the castle: “Why is Edna heading towards the port? Could she possibly want to stay at the port inn?

Why? Even though Elvia is part of the Evil Faction, she can follow her master into Agleya City!”

“Probably wants to observe those with bizarre thoughts, right?” Celene immediately followed to change the topic, “Her biggest problem isn’t just… oh~”

Looks like AO is still watching his breezy little cotton-padded jacket.

Lansendel didn’t show any suspicion… He was never a deity with meticulous thoughts.

He simply spread his wings and did a roll, lazily saying: “I wonder how many are waiting for her in Deepwater City!

The ones who came now are all from over at Azuth’s side.

Mystra’s own followers have to show up somehow… especially the current Preaching Mage, must be anxious.

Unfortunately, apart from this Edna, there are no other clues.

Tsk! The Tablets of Fate really play around this time~”

Hill glanced at the Great Peacock who unknowingly spoke the truth: You’ll know later on how much the Tablets or AO, are playing this time.

Azuth, who knows the truth, is probably going mad… He truly regards Midnight as the joint heir of himself and Black Eye.

In the world of mages, bloodline heirs aren’t as important as knowledge heirs.

Unexpectedly, there came a day when the two suddenly united!
