Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1172: Chapter 963: The Deities’ Lowest Limits Dragged into the Bottomless Abyss by Rose

Shaer did not realize that her Chosen had been driven to madness, after all, she had never fought face to face with a Treant, and could not understand the anger and desolation of watching strange liquid flow over her body.

In some ways, she really looked differently at Hydra, after all, most of the Followers of the Night worship her for power.

Choosing to abandon a powerful divine artifact for the sake of cleanliness and face made her look upon the Many-Headed Snake favorably.

She never planned to hand over the Seat of Sakoxiel to Ilmatra of the Ancient Night Temple and Helderstal of the Embrace of Darkness.

After all, neither of them had seen it firsthand, and between disgusting rumors and great power, they were very likely to choose power.

Although Ilmatra and Helderstal were women, in some ways, their pursuit of power was even more intense than the seemingly emotionless Hydra, and they were adversaries who would choose to disgust themselves if it meant not letting the other gain an advantage.

The extent of a woman’s contention, thinking about how she would act when facing Celene, Shaer had no doubts.

But she did not trust those two Chosen... even if they now behaved loyally, even willing to open their hearts to the Lady of the Night.

If the Chosen were really as they appeared, how could Mystra have fallen to this state?

If this divine artifact chair were placed in the Shadow Realm, Shaer certainly wouldn’t care about others’ means, but since it could only remain in Toril due to this sudden situation, the Lady of the Night was sure someone, especially those evil deities and necromancers, wouldn’t give up on the Seat of Sakoxiel.

If control were handed to those two women... Shaer was certain whichever one of them it was, she would definitely betray.

After all, unlike Hydra, the underdark territory controlled by the Many-Headed Snake had few humans, while those two had risen through brutal competition amid tens of thousands of Night Priests, always surrounded by foes trying to bring them down.

Betrayal was practically natural.

Shaer wasn’t originally concerned about whether these Followers of the Night would betray... her nature dictated she would always walk the path of suspicion.

But it’s best if nothing goes wrong during this time.

She truly didn’t want the Undead Tribe fighting amongst themselves, ultimately producing a Midnight Elect.

Though, giving up those Night Cloaks meant nothing to Shaer, she had lately been cherishing her reputation a bit.

Speaking of which, sometimes she envied the God of Corruption Mo’ando for his unabashed way of turning followers into slaves controlled by him, with such simplicity and brutality, Shaer thought with a hint of confusion, but she still didn’t want to do anything beyond the edges of her divinity.

Controlling people’s hearts and directly turning them into puppets are two different things... the latter is too tempting, but Shaer wouldn’t even think about it.

That would be the greatest betrayal of her hidden divinity.

While Primordial Darkness did indeed give her a cold and ruthless heart, increasingly facing her true self, Shaer realized that Darkness also brought her enough reason.

No matter what kind of temptation, there’s always a cold veil reminding her not to go astray.

She looked back at the Floating Castle in mid-air, driving the black veil to slowly fly towards it, pondering... perhaps the Primordial Light was just too warm, so Celene feels encouraged no matter what she thinks?

Shaer felt that realizing this would make her love her dependent demi-body even more.

Then as she sat sideways on the veil, Shaer suddenly paused... why did she think of Mo’ando?

Among all those wicked deities using crooked methods to control their followers, why did she only think of that god of corruption, decay, and rot?

Then as the Lady of the Night flew over the treetops of the Green Forest, she saw countless wandering vines below... Lily of the Valley, Windmill Jasmine, and Murderous Vine, all behaved so well-trained.

She suddenly realized: Mo’ando was originally a massive mix of rotting plants and meat with a vague humanoid outline covered in curling vines.

But this evil god had quite a number of high-level followers, especially those female priests known as ’Mouthpieces’... perpetual youth and stunning beauty were enough to make them obediently loyal.

For women who couldn’t survive on their abilities, what else was there to pursue?

Shaer, naturally, looked down on these weaklings who only knew how to depend on others’ strength to survive. Although she granted her Envoy of the Night eternal youth, it was because they had sufficient power... their faces remained their original appearances.

When Mo’ando’s ’Mouthpieces’ looked at their false appearances, could they still remember who they were?

Shaer thought idly and warned Hill the moment she returned to the Floating Castle: ”Your vine plants are too noticeable.

Be cautious of Mo’ando’s followers.”

Hill was stunned for a moment before realizing who Shaer was talking about... Mo’ando’s followers must engage in slaughter or collect plants in the name of God: cutting down sturdy tree plants, brutally killing vicious vine creatures.

Then use these things as the components of Mo’ando’s mortal body... The higher the level of the plant body, the longer that perpetually decaying mortal body will last.

Shaer’s meaning is that Mo’ando has set his sights on Agleya’s plants? Especially the vine clusters in his place?

”Killing vines, they can directly strangle Marla’s avatars.” Hill murmured, ”Mo’ando? Thinking too much, isn’t he? Unless he comes down himself.”

”Besides tossing seeds around, Mo’ando doesn’t have much power, right?

Just one Marla is enough to take out three of him!

Otherwise, Mo’ando wouldn’t have been so easily assassinated by the harpist Vandar Longspine, even having part of his divinity taken away, allowing that guy Vandar to ascend successfully!

The remainder of his divine soul was even controlled by Rose... Where does the current Mo’ando have the guts to cause trouble in Agleya?” said Celene happily.

Then one person and three gods on the floating castle simultaneously froze.

It couldn’t be?

Could Rose be so ruthless?

How could there be such a cruel goddess to herself in this world?

If Gunnard is the God of Dung Pits, then Mo’ando is the God of Rot... these two could honestly be considered the most disgusting images on the Ferun Great Land... Necromancy creatures don’t count, they are at most skeletons and corpses, which only induce terror but not filth.

Moreover, Mo’ando’s followers are even more detestable than demon followers on the continent... After all, they often ambush the strong trying to parasitize Mo’ando’s seeds, so they always disguise themselves as druids when going out.

And many plants of the evil system also serve that evil god... that’s actually a good way to monitor Agleya City.

The reason Shaer is aware of this is probably that Rose, the moment she was sent back, immediately activated Mo’ando’s power she had long prepared.

That is... Hill thought in confusion, even the extremely greedy Cyric didn’t choose the simplest devouring when faced with Mo’ando, who lies constantly and shares some conflicting divinity with him, to make Mo’ando his visage.

Yet, that famously beautiful Rose executed it so quickly and smoothly... How did Coron view such a Rose as a white lotus who depends on and reveres him?

”Coron’s taste is really something~” The brave Lansendel expressed everyone’s thoughts, and Hill found he wasn’t the only one looking at the cat pool.

The moonlight orb quietly turning in the cat’s paw suddenly stopped... The slowly recovering Villon and Elisui seemed to fall asleep simultaneously.

Hill fully understood why the siblings completely abandoned prying into the outside world, choosing to remain asleep... if it were anyone else, even having cut off all ties with their biological mother, just shy of turning hostile, they wouldn’t want to hear such news solely associated with the word ’disgusting’.

He chuckled lightly: ”Never mind, the outside vines are avatars, the main body is in the castle!

Even if Mo’ando really descends, he can’t do much.

However, Rose’s fallback plan, this should really be the last one, right?”

”It should be. If Mo’ando gets eliminated again, she can only rely on her followers... Rose doesn’t have many chosen; she only trusts the Wax Melt Demon.

There’s also Xinze Laina, the Zholar Assassin God, the Valkyrie swallowed by her during the Years of Turmoil.” Shaer chuckled lightly, unconcerned, ”Though at that time, this demigod body was sent by her into the Spider Magic Net to guard the door.”

Hill nodded, no wonder Rose could only expose Gunnard, after all, Mo’ando’s powers are still too weak, easily rubbed on the ground by Hydra... So it’s understandable Rose would hate Shaer so much.

In the future, won’t Shaer’s eternal nemesis really turn from Celene to Rose?

The problem is unless the two fight until the world collapses, who cares about who wins or loses between the two?

However, Hill glanced at the Lady of the Night... Shaer, sitting sideways on the gauze, was looking serious... she probably was hesitating: can her Midnight Elect hold out against such a Rose?

It might be better to leave Rose to Coron... that’s supposed to be the Father of Elves’ responsibility anyway!

”I just saw Edna appear on the inn roof, it seems she’s almost fully recovered and has the mood for some fun now.” Shaer maintained a calm demeanor, but clearly didn’t want to mention Rose again, likely planning to delay discussing it.

”The battle breaking out here in Agleya, I reckon the Tablets of Fate were meant for them to experience the strength of the gods, that group of Steel Dragons would be perfect targets.” Celene said leisurely, ”Unfortunately, these kids probably only saw how low the depths of divinity can be.

When Mystra actually appears before them in the future, hopefully they’ll remember you, Shaer, and not that extremely persistent Rose.”
