Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1041: Chapter 835: It’s Not So Easy Being the Third Party

Hill focused intently on the giant screen… completely absorbed, his head remained motionless.

Not sure whether those two goddesses were a bit interested in the hunting, or perhaps the topic of sisters was unappealing to them, Shaer clearly showed no interest in dealing with it, and they did not speak any further.

The constantly swaying oak trees on the giant screen showed the intensity of the battle… Clearly, the prey they were chasing had already appeared, and the Undead Tribe was trapped in frantic combat.

The reality that all the little fairies were out of the game only fueled their reckless fighting, with big moves being unleashed one after another.

However, Hill could also see from their battle the sorrow of the little fairies… as their bodies shrank, so did the range of their spells.

Their power even seemed to have diminished considerably.

Yet their level clearly remained the same.

This only proved that to mobilize the primordial force of the Toril World, the energy demand from the body was high, after all, these are spell-like abilities… but when they became 20 cm tall little figures, the energy their bodies could mobilize decreased.

Even when little fairies became deities, they could only survive by relying on elves and the Natural Divine System… but they certainly wouldn’t care about the internal struggles of little fairies.

That’s why Vila dared to compete with Titania… besides the Fairy Queen’s power contained within the Queen’s Throne, she was not much worse than Titania.

But Vila didn’t need that chair… she wasn’t planning to go to the Stellar Realm anytime soon and could slowly develop her own power… being with Hill for so long, she learned a lot, and a crucial point was to avoid relying on external forces: equipment could be used, but should never surpass herself.

Like Titania’s Ice Dragon Throne, when Vila saw it, she only wanted to retreat… sometimes Vila didn’t know whether she was facing Titania or the chair.

Near the clearing in the oak forest where the reporters and the ‘Young Master’ were located, a lot of chaotic noise suddenly appeared… as the Silvermoon rose, 9000 members of the Undead Tribe had already exited.

So, this competition reached its most critical point… a chaotic battle involving thousands.

Streaks of green light darted from several directions to the clearing, eventually converging into a 10 cm high translucent butterfly like a green emerald in the center.

From all directions, the Undead Tribe followed those green lights, gradually making their appearance.

The Emerald Butterfly gracefully danced in the center of the clearing, tracing out lines of green light with exceptional speed.

Yet, not a single member of the Undead Tribe acted immediately… those who remained at this point were either especially capable or particularly cunning, with most forming small teams.

Hill estimated the number of the Undead Tribe present and guessed there were still some hiding nearby, watching for the outcome… someone always wanted to play the role of the cicada’s predator.

Nevertheless, the Undead Tribe standing in the clearing were not fools… and mainly, the ‘Young Master’s’ broadcast resounded throughout the entire forest: “The final battle among thousands begins! Who will become Queen Vila’s first warrior?

Who will receive the first hunting horn?

Let everyone keep their eyes wide open!”

The Undead Tribe in the clearing exchanged glances, then began counting heads… even though it was supposed to be a grand show with a thousand participants, only over 700 had shown up.

Then, they seamlessly coordinated to sweep the outskirts… especially the various teams, most were fellow warriors, only occasionally including a priest or paladin… paladins were slightly more frequent.

Angry shouts came out from the oak forest directed at the Young Master… then, soon, several teams emerged… these were groups intending to lay low even after forming, aiming to gain from others’ efforts.

Hill wasn’t particularly surprised to spot ‘Perfect Baldy,’ ‘Old Age Striking King,’ ‘Rain Falling on Mortal Dust,’ ‘Magic Sword,’ alongside a mage named ‘Little Bug.’

Though Baldy and Striking King often favored brute force, Rainfall always sought to employ a bit of strategy… this guy always believed that unless one had a foul enough mind, one couldn’t count as a real battlefield commander.

Members of the Black Rose were accustomed to following his commands… as long as it came to fighting, ‘Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ was the boss, and Baldy was always obedient.

As he put it, don’t let those who pound stakes compete with those who make drawings… otherwise, the stakes would be in vain.

Of course, Hill was even less surprised that ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ only served as a bystander from start to finish, standing by the entrance near Vila’s carriage… fortunately, as Vila’s acknowledged commander, he had the opportunity to participate in that feast, otherwise, even though everyone knew his hands were clumsy, he would be too miserable if he were the only one of the three commanders without even a chance to attend the banquet.

These teams being driven out resulted in individual predators being cleared away… in a competition where only one victor prevailed, typically no one would hide far away.

Of course, perhaps someone might be utterly bored and simply want to linger in the oak forest until the end, but as long as they had no impact on the final battle, no one would bother with them.

Those daring to play the role of the cicada’s predator usually had some skills… although their opponents were numerous and powerful, most of those predators managed to take down one or two adversaries.

And these smaller teams naturally became targets for the full-member teams’ coveting… the mixed martial conflict had begun.

The colorful spell effects on the open ground are really beautiful… The knights’ probing and turning against each other also show great tactical skills.

“Ah~ oh~ ah ah~” Celene seems very tense watching, “The Undead Tribe is fighting beautifully! Hey~ I could learn something from this swordsman~”

The battles on Toril’s side usually don’t play out as spectacularly… Magic slots limit their imagination.

Those elites who aren’t limited by magic slots also won’t indulge in group fights, especially massive battles involving hundreds of people.

Hill glanced at the swordsman Celene mentioned… He’s a rare swordsman who uses a single-handed heavy sword, clearly the kind who focuses entirely on strength, probably guzzling a lot of strength potions… To be so bull-headed, you’re either a madman or a rich person.

Judging from his splendid golden armor and his Demi-God tier longsword, it’s obviously the latter.

It’s even very likely he acquired the longsword first, then catered his stats to the requirements of the sword like a tycoon.

His every move is deliberate, caring for style over precision, with a constant smile on his handsome face… Those surrounding him obviously defer to him… They know well how to complement a tycoon’s carefree ease.

Hill’s mouth twitched… It’s the first time he’s seen the flair of the new boss of Doomsday!

After all, the hooded ‘Lu Huayu’ has been diligently shielding him from harm… It’s rare to see a mage acting as a shield.

Although Hill can tell that this rich boss’s composed demeanor comes from the desperate efforts of the other four skilled players, Celene only seems to see the swordsman’s elegant sword swings.

But that indeed suits Celene’s style… However, when she swings a scepter, she’s all instinctive reactions; if she learns this, she’ll end up handicapped, right?

Hill worries a bit; if Celene really learns this pretentious swordplay… Shaer might be the one to grab her and throw her out then?

But she quickly gives up: “Though it’s beautiful, it feels odd when I try… Obviously, I can just strike directly, why lift up first?

If the opponent were a fool, that’d be fine, but facing someone like Shaer, they’d have long run off and cut me with a stroke.”

Shaer coldly states, “You could choose a different comparison… Between us, you’re the one who’s lost the most.

It was just a rare win, how long do you plan to brag about it?

Not to mention it was only because of my momentary negligence that time.

Do you really dare to fight me?

Hmm? Now, Mystree isn’t here to unconditionally protect you.”

Celene chuckles twice: “That’s why I’m not fighting you anymore! As long as I claim the final victory, that’s enough!”

Shaer, unable to retort, can only coldly reply, “You can only live in self-deception then!”

Hill ponders for a moment, it seems ever since that time in Deepwater City when Celene swung Shaer around and smashed, her attitude towards Shaer has changed a bit… Like that ‘Thousand Petals in One Night’ event happened after that.

In the past, she might have crushed ‘Thousand Petals in One Night’ into powder with her own hands… That Maiden of the Moon isn’t without principles; it’s just that only she understands them.

If it were me, Hill thinks, I wouldn’t consider a good beating of Shaer as clearing the slate… The reputation of the Silver Madonna is well deserved.

The nickname is spot on.

The big battle quickly reaches a critical point… The relatively strong squads have pretty good team coordination; after all this time, they have a measure of each other’s capabilities, so they choose to first clear the weaker ones, especially any undermanned teams.

After two hours of fierce battle, before dawn breaks, only 7 squads remain on the open ground, along with the butterfly that has been flying nonstop.

The remaining squads can’t help but glance at that Emerald Butterfly… They all know whoever grabs it first will certainly be ganged up on, but if no one makes a move, no one is willing to start a fight with others first… After all, at this point, even if two strong squads engage, they might instantly get ganged up on by the other five squads.

The squads standing in different corners look at each other… Then they quickly realize that the Battle Field, Black and White Path, along with Black Rose seem to be plotting to team up.

The three clans’ plan is pretty clear: clean up the field first, then settle things internally… After all, the squads formed by their respective clans are meant to fight it out in the end to determine a winner… Even the clan leader can’t demand their members sacrifice their own interests.

However, their intention to team up is spotted… The other four, without waiting for them to gather together, start bombarding the Black and White Path’s squad… Although Ink Brush didn’t react initially, he loudly shouted as soon as the gangbang started: “Road Eunuch, hit him!”

Normally, even with a team-up, they would typically choose to deal with the strongest, Black Rose, first, but they’ve chosen to attack Black and White Path instead.

And their old adversary ‘Lu Huayu’ is the one with a grudge against Black and White Path that’s deeper than the sea.
