Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1006: Chapter 801: Elves and Humans Amid Surging Undercurrents

‘Perfect Bald’ was touching his tablet, his face blank… He seemed to sneak a look at his wallet balance.

Hill looked at this pseudo-little loli with a face full of misery and couldn’t help but ask, “Shall we go to the Temporal Artifact and make a rental agreement? The practicality of this ring is just so-so; if you’re not primarily mining, spending so much money doesn’t really make sense.”

The gold coins in Toril are worth much more than those in Teraxil… When the Undead Tribe came over here, the gold coins and Elemental Crystals from Teraxil were sealed, and William didn’t want to give free benefits to Toril… If you want to spend money in Toril, you have to exchange it for Elven Gold Coins… specially made by Coron.

Hill estimated that the exchange rate between one Elemental Crystal and Toril gold coins is basically 1:100… The Toril gold coins look much more exquisite and beautiful, with the Life Tree of the Elven Divine Kingdom standing tall on one side and the palace of the Father of Elves on the other, looking like a piece of art, and the Undead Tribe actually doesn’t mind.

Teraxil gold coins aren’t so pretty… William only cares about anti-theft, and the coins look much plainer… When the Undead Tribe spends money, they won’t look down and count gold coins one by one, and William doesn’t bother making them so fine.

So, speaking of the spending habits of these Undead Tribe buying gold, 370,000 gold coins isn’t a low price among them.

Moreover, the Earth Elemental Spirits in Toril are rather reclusive in nature, and they basically perform one command and then leave after two hours… Of course, if they are summoned by someone they like, that is another matter.

The Cave Exploration Ring can achieve cross-level summoning mainly because the Earth Elemental God Valley Lanba is very familiar with Hill’s aura and is willing to give him face, but after being summoned, these cold Elemental Spirits may not have a good attitude.

The Undead Tribe is actually okay, after all, their bodies are collections of Elemental Energy, so Elemental Spirits will see them as half kindreds; if it were Toril people, they might just get a perfunctory outcome.

But directing these Elemental Spirits to fight and kill is no problem… They are very willing to eliminate a human.

As Hill finished speaking, ‘Perfect Bald’ suddenly said, “No! Please, no! If people know that I talk too much and make Mr. Hill change to rental, I’ll be finished in Toril, even the girls from Black Rose will beat me to death!

Anyway, it’s Old Dog’s headache to take back, and it is my victory if I buy it!

Even if Old Dog gets beaten senseless, what does it have to do with me?”

Hill quietly glanced over, filled with questions in his eyes: What about your wife?

Apparently, Hill’s gaze was too genuine, ‘Perfect Bald’ quickly understood his meaning, showing an awkward yet polite smile: “Mr. Hill, married women are one kind, and women with children are another kind.

When it’s just two people, spending money on her is justified; with three people, she will consider cost performance.

As it is now, Loli wouldn’t have let me buy that set of jewelry back then.”

His tone was filled with self-satisfaction of a ‘man in charge’ as if mocking Hill: Single dogs understand nothing!

But Hill only gave him a cold glance.

If he didn’t understand the Undead Tribe much, that could be understandable… But ‘Perfect Bald’ secretly checked the thickness of his wallet and then quietly ended a call with a certain lady, Hill saw it all clearly.

The so-called cautiousness of the Undead Tribe is not much different from blatant; many people just don’t know what those little moves mean, but Hill knew very well!

Obviously, for a price as expensive as 370,000 gold, only Ms. Xiao Liuliu can make the decision herself, someone like Bald can only give his wife surprises worth a few tens of thousands… Too much more than this would lead to another form of punishment due to excessive secret stash.

Hill initially felt a bit close to ‘Perfect Bald,’ mainly because he seemed somewhat of a fellow countryman from a different world?

‘Rake Ears’ is such a creature that won’t change because the world changes…

That thoughtful yet outwardly gentle lady probably considered that she might not have time to play for a year or more and thus didn’t want to spend too much in the game, which is why she refused Bald’s transfer request… Giving this construction worker a chance to show off his family’s happiness in front of Hill.

Too bad it only exposed his household status further.

However, Hill figured, perhaps Bald didn’t care how others see him, as there was no possibility of his status dropping further anyway.

Bald had long known Hill’s non-haggling style, and he simply reported a price to ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ through his tablet and finalized the transaction… The Undead Tribe knew very well that the fact Hill was willing to sell these Magical Items was already him being very friendly towards them.

For the same items, if those Archmages in Toril were the ones asked, they’d probably just give them a ‘are you nuts?’ look… So the Undead Tribe and Ms. Laila from Luskan had no rapport at all anyway.

Don’t look at how the ‘Old Age Striking King’ has a good relationship with Little Loli Edna and can chat with Laila, she clearly has no intention of extending her goodwill toward the Striking King to the Undead Tribe as a whole, as she still looked at others with aloof indifference.

Even though the Undead Tribe was accustomed to dealing with such indifferent and unfathomable NPCs, this wasn’t paper people after all… After being despised face-to-face, there were indeed few who’d willingly put themselves up for further abuse.

But most games in their world were actually like this, NPCs were either drawing a line like Laila did with the Undead Tribe or had some social interaction yet, except for trading, nothing else like Fran, which was better than completely ignoring them, or like Spencer, whose attitude was very gentle, yet business was carried out with great formality.

Players understood well why the planners set NPCs this way.

If NPCs got too close to players, it would easily make them addicted to the game and never want to return to reality, so various countries heavily penalized games that led to excessive addiction… They may not care about the health of their citizens, but they absolutely cannot allow all their citizens to play themselves to death.

Therefore, an NPC like Hill, who is always very friendly yet gives off an ethereal feeling when actually interacting, is quite rare… Clearly, he won’t let people love him as if he’s a real person, but everyone feels he’s nice when mentioned… Unfortunately, such highly intelligent NPCs appear randomly, and even with identical data, there won’t be a second Hill.

Bald contentedly carried the ring and sincerely bid farewell to Hill, as he needed to start his journey: the teleportation array from the God of Time and Space could only send him to the Underdark’s ‘Dusk Mountain’ Revival Point, he had to hurry to catch up with those unfortunate souls like him who had to resurrect… if something appeared on the road, he wouldn’t be safe alone.

As long as Bald thought about his luck, which only worked in front of Old Dog, he absolutely didn’t dare to take risks, he really didn’t want to run around for no reason… even if it’s his family’s tiger running, but tigers also have tempers.

Hill silently watched the red-haired pseudo-loli hop away… really a bit worried about his future… He felt Bald was going a bit too far on the path of imitating lolis, a normal man should only stride forward briskly.

Hill propped his chin and sighed at the pile of gold coins stacked like a small mountain in front of him… he really had no use for so many gold coins and could only use them to stockpile for Agleya City.

Because he didn’t want the hassle, Hill directly made this type of gold coin the official currency of Agleya… Gold coins personally crafted by Coron still took the form of ancient elven gold coins, with a high purity of gold, each worth two of the most trustworthy Dragon Coins from Silvermoon City on the Ferun Great Land.

Furthermore, the Undead Tribe’s consumption in Agleya City had always been high, so it was meaningless for Hill to use the common gold coins of Ferun.

Hill knew that his economic concepts were actually a bit problematic… But there was nothing he could do, since gold was worthless to him… So he wisely chose to trust Coron in this regard.

Thus, the gold coins of Agleya City began to slowly flow outward.

Toril’s merchants had always been shrewd, and once they discovered that the elven gold coins in Agleya were the old-style, they naturally chose to sell more of their goods to Agleya… The only regret? Agleya didn’t accept large-scale gold coin exchanges, the city wouldn’t accept large amounts of other gold coins, and only accepted its coins or gold trade bars when selling expensive goods, the kind of 50 grams pure gold bar per piece.

Merchants could only try their best to deliver goods to Agleya for sale… This was why, in recent years, Hill could easily hoard large quantities of basic resources like grain. To merchants, the gold coins of Agleya City were the ones with preservation value.

The more chaotic Toril became, the less merchants trusted the coins manufactured under the credit of those countries with little gold in them… Even the value of Silvermoon City’s Dragon Coins had decreased in recent years, and most merchants usually made choices between barter and gold trade bars during transactions.

If Agleya City didn’t have such low demand for the outside world, Ferun Great Land would’ve likely been overtaken by these new elven gold coins a long time ago.

Hill always felt that Coron was up to something… even the elves over at Mulan silently started using these new coins as well.

But this action had to have AO’s tacit approval; such an important matter as currency, the deities weren’t unaware, they just didn’t want to get involved.

One wonders if this means elves are about to return to the historical stage.

However, the rise of elves is bound to create a lot of trouble for human city-states and kingdoms; no one would willingly hand over dominance.

Who knows if this world may see racial wars one day.
