Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1016: Chapter 810: The Future Shaped by a Few Words

The Undead Tribe dispatched an Earth Mage... They didn’t plan to continue building a revival point here, so there was no need to protect the elements.

The mountains echoed with rumbling sounds everywhere, and the tall stone houses were completely dismantled.

The Undead Tribe certainly didn’t intend to retreat just like that. Although a lot of good things were found in those five huge Elder’s mansions, how could a Dwarven clan possibly be without its own family vault!

What was unexpected was that the Clan Leader’s mansion of this Dilo Dwarves had almost nothing valuable... The Undead Tribe’s first reaction was that there was something suspicious about him, so his house was the first one they dismantled.

Unfortunately, there really was nothing.

This outcome truly disappointed the Undead Tribe... Deep down, they thought this Clan Leader was possibly biding his time, accumulating strength for a counterattack in the future... Was he really a complete failure after all?

That guy stood at the back the entire time, completely disinterested in joining the subordinates of those Elders in the attack, and the Undead Tribe assumed he had a plan!

He turned out to be an incompetent fool who gave up!

This made many Undead, who had envisioned a grand play of a defeated underdog making a comeback, leave with resentment... They were the first batch to rush in and dismantle the Clan Leader’s mansion, thinking they could find something good.

Hill couldn’t help but laugh.

Even Celene, who had been watching from the sidelines, couldn’t help but say, ”Did that Clan Leader find himself an exit? Even the poorest Dilo Dwarf wouldn’t have a residence completely devoid of magical items.”

Hill softly replied, ”Dilo Dwarves are connected through family surnames. Even his own bloodline, as long as the surname follows the mother belonging to another family, his children can survive.

This Clan Leader probably knew the fate of his family long ago, didn’t trust those promising words from Dilinca, so he gave away the family assets.

Although Dilo Dwarves don’t care about bloodlines, if they know they have no future, their nature wouldn’t allow others to gain at their expense.”

The Dilo Dwarven clan has no concept of family life internally. Despite being blood-related, no male Dilo Dwarf ever shows interest in their offspring, whereas females are slightly better.

After all, Dilo Dwarves are highly fecund, having quadruplets is commonplace for them, and female Dilo Dwarves have a birthing age span of fifty years, even if they mate with human slaves, the children born would only be Dilo Dwarves.

They are not normal beings... In this aspect, they are even inferior to animals lacking intelligence, as most animals wouldn’t abandon their young unless there’s a scarcity of food.

Yet, Dilo Dwarven children are completely uncared for... From their first breath, they must learn to take care of themselves.

In infancy, if they don’t cry out for food and milk, they won’t get anything.

When they start toddling, if they don’t find food themselves, they will go hungry.

Children who aren’t proactive enough die before adolescence, either from hunger or at the hands of their peers.

Celene has always been kind towards women and children... The Dilo Dwarven race seems less than livestock in her eyes.

So even witnessing a clan extermination incident didn’t stir her feelings, mentioning that Clan Leader was due to the Undead Tribe’s exaggerated behavior... Such trivial matters could result in heated arguments over differing views.

Celene was more concerned about another matter: ”That severed hand capable of life force absorption has been destroyed, will its original owner come to Toril?

Should the eyes from Shaer’s side be dealt with early within these four years?”

Hill coolly reminded, ”Although Vikna is a powerful mage, he has only lower rank divine power. I don’t think he has the guts to mess with the Lady of Darkness... hiding from Toril is more likely.”

”So... why is it four years?” A ghostly voice sounded.

Hill suddenly startled, quickly closing his mouth.

”Ah! Shaer, you don’t know?

No matter how chaotic the Primordial Power is, it won’t affect us! Have you been crying over the Shadow Weave for too long? Completely ignoring the happenings on the earth.

That Mystra... Midnight is still a 12-year-old girl now, about four years later she’ll officially start on the path to divinity. You know AO’s temperament, all destiny lines will only weave beginning at 16.” Celene briskly answered, ”Hill, no need to worry that Shaer will harm that little girl, she currently won’t deal with Mystra, still hopes she’ll return to her divine position to sort the Weave out!

From my understanding of Shaer, she will most likely attempt to assassinate Midnight once Mystra returns to her position, to see if the Shadow Weave will detach and return to her... If unsuccessful, she won’t try a third time.

Rest assured! Shaer now surely hopes Mystra returns to Josse Garden smoothly.

Besides, Cyric won’t come out so quickly even if he’s able to! Shaer can only seek that madman.”

Hill couldn’t help but twitch his mouth. Sometimes he really didn’t know whether Celene was smart or foolish... She’s like cutting into her own sister’s heart one blade at a time!

Shaer showed no reaction at all, Hill thought she might spar with Celene again!

Seems she was completely used to this level of verbal dueling.

Hill felt his mental fortitude was growing stronger... he couldn’t help turning back to look at the fountain with the Crystal Flower, the sparkling petals gave him immense courage... Even if it were just avatars, even if these two fought extensively, his Puzzle Lock should withstand.

Hill silently sighed in his heart. This Puzzle Lock pillar, strengthened to prevent the rampant spread of Primordial Power, had unexpectedly turned into a voltage stabilizer... However, in a way, it was still preventing the riot of the Primordial Power...

Life is truly full of surprises; those who are well-prepared will never suffer great losses.

Shaer was silent for a while, still unable to figure out who... In her heart, someone like Midnight, with such a typical kind alignment, should have a very obvious way of doing things... always standing on the side of justice.

Twelve years old, not too big, as Celene said, won’t even show a destiny line, but also not too small, at least would reveal something extraordinary... Unless Midnight doesn’t even know who she is!

She couldn’t help but ask, ”Exactly who? I can’t figure it out at all... She couldn’t possibly leave the Ferun Great Land, she couldn’t even leave The North, her Chosen ones are all here!”

”Can’t figure it out? It’s Edna in Hill’s Domain!” Celene emphasized with a chuckle, ”The one who signed a contract with the White Dragon Queen!

Your followers are so well-informed, they couldn’t possibly not know, right?”

Shaer was stunned for a moment before she uttered an ”Ah?” with a sense of surprise. ”Did Cyric eat her brain?”

”For some reason, she hasn’t recovered her memory,” Celene said without any intention of keeping it a secret, ”She still considers herself a descendant of Azuth! She’s eager to trouble Kelben and occasionally complains about that narrow-minded Goddess of Magic.

But she might still feel something in her heart, never cursing herself... I’ve been waiting, but unfortunately, it hasn’t happened yet.”

Shaer was silent for a long time before she said with a hint of laughter, ”The Tablets of Fate always have such innovative ways of doing things.”

Hill thought she actually wanted to say AO.

But Shaer’s personality has always been more cautious and wouldn’t gossip about AO like Celene.

However, Hill was somewhat confused, thinking that Celene also doesn’t seem to like the current Goddess of Magic... The schadenfreude in her tone was too obvious.

What exactly did Midnight do to make even the usually easy-going and gentle Maiden of the Moon dislike her so?

”Besides you and Hill, does anyone else know about this matter?” Shaer suddenly asked.

”What do you want to do?” Celene immediately asked vigilantly, ”Don’t harm Hill’s Domain!”

”Why would I trouble Hill? He’s not even your Chosen. Besides, the Undead Tribe hasn’t offended me,” Shaer said coldly. ”There’s still so many people in Long Saddle Town and Deepwater City waiting for me to deal with!

I was originally looking for the Black Robe, but by then it was already too late...”

Even if it’s for revenge, Shaer still has no intention of taking action herself! Compared to Celene, Shaer indeed adheres to order more strictly.

No wonder Miliel says she has a great love for secrecy.

This pair of sisters, in a sense, it’s hard to tell who’s scarier.

”That should be it,” Celene understood Shaer’s implication and straightforwardly said, ”Hill was just lucky, that little girl happened to be whisked to Agleya by a space storm.

But not everyone has the ability to see the Law Line woven by Primordial Power.”

Shaer pondered for a while before asking again, ”Hill, do you know how that little girl died?”

”Maybe... you could ask the Haber Family,” Hill replied calmly.

”Haber? Are they looking for a sacrifice? Even if Mystra is lenient, she couldn’t tolerate followers treating the offspring of deities as sacrifices,” Shaer chuckled softly, ”I know what to do, Azuth’s son is hiding in Kalartu now.”

Shaer’s information was indeed well-informed!

The followers of the Goddess of Darkness are indeed everywhere, even in the relatively closed-off continent of Kalartu.

”I’ve always wanted to find him. After all, Edna is still young and needs a complete mage education,” Hill said softly, ”Hidden Town welcomes a Neutral Faction Archmage to settle.”

Shaer laughed satisfactorily, she seemed to have a complete plan... Hill didn’t want to know the contents at all.

Celene then shifted the topic back: ”That eyeball...”

Shaer coldly said, ”You want to know if I’ll sacrifice humans, right?

If I would, what could you do? Stop me?

Toril is so big, and there are so many people, where do you think I’d choose?”

Celene suddenly laughed lightly: ”Ah! I understand now, you’re after that thing from the Haber Family... Rest assured, I won’t cause trouble for you.”

Shaer’s shadow suddenly disappeared.

It seems Celene’s guess was correct.
