Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1008: Chapter 803: The Enemy Right Before Our Eyes

Although the command group and the management of various families shouted themselves hoarse, the Undead Tribe could always manage to... ignore, ignore, the ranting of fools.

Thus, Hill quickly witnessed what kind of monsters were hidden on both sides: Even though these monsters were not bold enough to take the initiative against the numerous Undead Tribe, it didn’t mean that they could endure after these creatures entered their territory and made a big fuss.

The monster that emerged from the right, intolerable to the Undead Tribe, was the strong and filthy War Lizardfolk, accompanied by a considerable number of giant lizards... It seemed these creatures had long been observing the marching Elf army from afar... Though brandishing their spears and giant clubs with bravado, these War Lizardfolk cautiously maintained a 300-meter distance from the Undead Tribe.

Then their arrogance was met with countless fireballs... These Lizardfolk were just too stinky; even a 300-meter distance couldn’t block that maddening stench... The Undead Tribe’s long-accumulated anger was all unleashed upon them.

The Undead Tribe’s greatest grievance with the Underdark was always these monsters represented by disgust and foul odor.

The frenzied retreat of the War Lizardfolk, they knew these Elves were formidable... more powerful than the Zholar and Dwarves who often captured and enslaved them, but for these naïve creatures, 300 meters was already a considerable distance... The Zholar never wasted arrows on them; a scimitar was enough to deal with these brainless beasts.

Anyway, he couldn’t smell it, so Hill took a closer look at the notorious War Lizardfolk... Gnolls on the ground, War Lizardfolk below, both speaking Draconic language, and War Lizardfolk were not only oviparous but also had priests who could control Dragon Beasts.

Toril has countless novels full of fantasies about this... The appearance of Gnolls is more often attributed to those Metal Dragons, while War Lizardfolk naturally come from Chromatic Dragons.

To be honest, considering the daily preferences of these two types of creatures, it indeed seems somewhat... ah... not unfounded.

Hill had been curious for a long time, but unfortunately, due to his character, he was embarrassed to ask his Giant Dragon friends.

If not for the stinky mud smeared on their faces, these creatures whose faces were no different from lizards indeed resembled... Black Dragons.

Moreover, when they roared in retreat, they indeed shouted in Draconic... Although the language was simple and rough, Hill could still understand.

Hill couldn’t help but blink... Creatures like Giant Dragons always filled him with wonder about life.

The Temporal Artifact probably marked the War Lizardfolk as monsters that could be slain, and the experience gained wasn’t low. The Undead Tribe quickly used Ice Magic to freeze the swamp ahead, beginning their pursuit of the chaotically fleeing creatures.

Hill didn’t find it surprising... Although the Undead Tribe initially didn’t plan to actively deal with the swamp creatures to save stamina and mana, it didn’t mean they could resist taking action when seeing an Experience Pack.

William would certainly hate these War Lizardfolk... Even among the mostly Evil Faction underground creatures, War Lizardfolk were among the most detestable... These creatures have minimal civilization and technology but worship various abhorrent entities. They don’t keep slaves, so creatures captured by them are quickly consumed or used as sacrifices.

They strive to gain the favor of those Evil Gods... like the God of Worms... by torturing other creatures during terrible rituals lasting several hours. War Lizardfolk most enjoy sacrificing intelligent beings and brave foes.

So whether Human or Elf, the first reaction upon seeing such monsters is always to kill them all... Cannibals are forever enemies.

Hill silently looked at the Creeping Vine-Beasts being ignored by both sides, already frozen beneath the iced ground... These were the monsters monitored by the Dwarves in the swamp path from the mines.

This kind of level 10 or so, seemingly sluggish large camouflaged carnivorous plant, looked like clusters of shrubs growing beside the road... But stepping on them would result in tragedy... They liked to use their sticky rope-like tentacles to grab prey, wrapping them into a mass stored like fertilizer within their filthy bodies, and then the tentacles inside would burrow into the prey to absorb nutrients.

The Creeping Vine-Beasts are a type of plant monster that can be controlled by Magical System intelligent creatures.

And in the world of Dwarves, only the Dilo Dwarves could achieve that.

Hill couldn’t help but glance again at the monsters on the left of the road... Vast fields of Fire Beetles and Acid Beetles.

But the Undead Tribe was employing Blizzard to freeze the swamp, and these low-level insects died without even touching the edge of the Undead Tribe.

Both types of beetles only cared about their own territory, so once this edge swarm was exterminated, the other bugs from behind wouldn’t come over.

The left side soon quieted down, with the remaining Undead Tribe whispering... In some sense, it was quite normal that two-thirds of those who stayed behind were girls; the mere stench of the War Lizardfolk was enough for them to choose to stay in place and wait, not to mention stepping into a swamp resembling a cesspit.

But the appearance of Fire Beetles made Hill more certain of the identity of the enemy ahead... The Dilo Dwarves prefer to live in warmer places than their Dwarven kin, often settling near steam vents, hot springs, or lava flows.

And such a massive number of Fire Beetles would only exist near lava flows.

Hill really didn’t expect to encounter these Dilo Dwarves so close... They might have been defeated in the conflicts of the Underdark. Otherwise, these vicious creatures should be living in the central area of the Underdark.

Hill suddenly realized something... After Radug’s catastrophic defeat on Teraxil’s side, he probably wouldn’t let the Dilo Dwarf God Dilinca go easily.

Mind you, they even sent Radug’s children... Yet all the benefits in the end were scooped up by Dilinca... Radug didn’t get his hands on the various divine artifacts he most desired, and even the furnace that could traverse the universe was lost.

Although Dilinca’s objectives weren’t achieved either, Radug wouldn’t care about that. He would only think that without Dilinca’s interference, he might have had control over the world of Teraxil.

Once the battle between Abyssal Evil Gods begins, naturally, their followers in the Prime Material Plane would also go to war... These Dilo Dwarves must be the losers.

William must have gotten accurate information; that’s why he sent the Undead Tribe... Otherwise, if the Undead Tribe really started their journey into the endlessly extending Underworld, they would soon lose interest.

Hill was worrying for nothing... William comes from a place where you have to write a report and plan before doing anything.

The Undead Tribe soon returned victorious... leaving only a sea of flames in the distance.

No one wanted to take the spoils of the War Lizardfolk, so there was no need to be cautious in dealing with these creatures; burning them was just fine.

The Undead Tribe set off once again, pointing at the streaks of lightning appearing in the marsh... Hill could only smile wryly... The creeping plant called the Storm Creeper, a mutant variety, had a unique spell-like ability, the Lightning Aura... It could heal itself while delivering electric shocks to enemies.

So when lightning appeared on such a large scale, the owner of the plantation should know that enemies had arrived... and in great numbers.

No matter how strong a single enemy is, chain lightning wouldn’t appear, and with the War Lizardfolk’s camp ablaze, the Dilo Dwarves should have prepared for battle.

Just hope they have some confidence, and don’t flee immediately, after all, the Undead Tribe just wiped out the Zholar Allied Forces... These followers of Rose have rampaged through the Underdark for years, viewing Dilo Dwarves as mere slaves in their eyes.

However, finding a place to settle is not easy for Dilo Dwarves, and if they plan to relocate, it requires lengthy discussions... even in the case of fleeing, it’s not an immediate decision.

It’s a common affliction of intelligent beings, as long as there’s no centralized power, action tends to be slow because everyone’s interests vary... Like their cousins, the Dwarves, Dilo Dwarves love to have an Elders’ Council to restrain their Clan Leader; any decision made by the Clan Leader must be approved by the Elders’ Council.

In daily affairs, this is a good thing, but when life-and-death matters arise, if the Clan Leader’s control power isn’t strong enough, it naturally becomes a burden.

When the Undead Tribe reached the mountain range, stretching for dozens of kilometers and riddled with volcano craters and mineral veins, Hill smiled, confirming that this group of Dilo Dwarves exemplified a situation where the Elders’ Council had too much power.

It wasn’t because they didn’t flee... but rather these Dilo Dwarves actually formed a battle formation, intending to confront the Undead Tribe directly.

From a young age, Dilo Dwarves were taught that governing all lands is their birthright, whether underground or on the surface.

They believe themselves to be the result of the survival of the fittest among all races, the rulers of the world, the only obstacle being the cursed sun.

Thus, Dilo Dwarves never retreat in the face of battle... but that’s easier said than done; they haven’t managed to rule the Underdark themselves!

Wise Dilo Dwarf clans treat those ancestral sayings as mere slogans... They will still back down when necessary.

Yet, this group of Dilo Dwarves seemed genuinely convinced of their invincibility.

They sported wild, waxy yellow hair, bushy mustaches and short beards, faces covered in grime and grease, wielding light repeating crossbows and short swords, standing tall behind chevaux-de-frise.

What caught Hill’s attention was the group of Magicians among the crossbowmen, wielding magic wands, and the Elders, who, surrounded by large numbers of Magicians, held exquisite and hefty magic books... Clearly, each Elder commanded a group of Magicians who listened only to them.

There were always quite a number of Magicians among the Dilo Dwarves, but never this many... Such circumstances only happen by the will of the Main God.

So, did the Undead Tribe find the main force this time?
