Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1032: Chapter 826: The Dangers of Teammates

The Undead Tribe on the city walls were actually well prepared. The Fire Mages were positioned in spots that were easier to move from… after all, no one knew which direction the Air God Creatures would choose to climb up from.

At most, they needed to run a bit faster… anyway, the Undead Tribe wouldn’t feel fatigued, and their stamina wouldn’t be easily depleted by these small matters.

To some extent, Hill could understand the mindset of those who preferred to give up the thrill of a few battles to stick with a Fire Element Profession.

Some people will always hold true to their faith… Fireball Technique is the eternal god.

The speed of the Undead Tribe was indeed quite fast. Just as the Divine Beasts used their giant fists to smash the stone Great Wall, they were met with a frontal assault: Blizzard on one side, Meteor Fire Rain on the other.

This time the Divine Beasts weren’t so easily killed… the smaller Elemental Giants that initially charged up quickly retreated after losing a few lives, leaving the battlefield to the larger ones behind them.

These huge Divine Beasts were indeed more difficult to deal with… the twenty-meter-high walls were teetering… it was the first time the Undead Tribe faced such a challenging battle scene… if they weren’t mindlessly casting spells downward, many would have caused trouble because of the shaking walls.

Each section of the wall had a captain responsible for segmental command. They were loudly shouting for these Mages to stay focused, and under no circumstances should they shorten the casting range of their spells… if they felt they couldn’t stand their ground, they should definitely move forward, never backward… there were still two rows of Defensive Knights in front!

Though the shouts of the captains rose and fell, reaching the point of hoarseness, someone still made a mistake… perhaps dizzy from the shake, they indeed moved forward, but unfortunately, they turned in the opposite direction, casting spells toward the inside of the walls… while the distance wasn’t shortened, it directly drew the ground-level Earth Mage’s furious rebuke from below.

Luckily, the Priests, standing on temporarily built earthen platforms, escaped disaster… after all, the battlefield was mostly on the walls, so the Undead Tribe built slightly lower dirt mounds behind the Great Wall, as long as they were enough for the Priests’ Healing Spells to reach the Knights’ heads.

Moreover, in the hearts of the Undead Tribe, the most crucial point of this war was whether these Earth Mages could repair the walls in time.

Hill heard the call from ‘Snow Cloud Peak’, he especially divided the Earth Mages’ wall repairs into several parts: some started repairing as soon as the wall was attacked, others waited 10 minutes or 20 minutes, or even counted in hours, while a small segment was intentionally left unrepaired.

No wonder ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ specially informed Vivian Paxia, after the battle ended, they would definitely repair the Great Wall to look as good as when it was first built… probably out of concern that Vivian Paxia couldn’t handle the sight of the shaking wall and would faint from anger on the spot.

Doing business still requires some honesty… even if the egg has a layer of wax on it, it should at least be a complete egg.

Whether Vila has come to his senses now is unknown… the idea that this Great Wall could stop the Divine Beasts’ attack is simply a joke… unless these Suldofir People carve the entire wall with defensive Enchanted Runes.

However, dealing with the future new ruler who wants to reclaim Suldofir for Kalinsan will be absolutely fine… no one doubts that Kalinsan will eventually return to human hands.

The Divine Beasts can cause such havoc now because the Banishment Spell can’t be used for the time being… the world is sealed, and the Banishment Spell can’t drive away these Elemental Giants.

But once Mystra returns to her position, there will be no problem… group Banishment Spell, it’s easy for a few Chosen to accomplish.

In the past, the Elves couldn’t do it because Karin’s connection with Mannan and Kalinsan was too close. Even if they were banished back to the Elemental Realm, these Elemental Giants, stronger than Demigods, could easily return.

Besides, Kalinsan isn’t the Elves’ territory. They’d be kind enough to lend a hand, much less make a huge sacrifice for humans!

But after being sealed for over ten thousand years and seeing Kalinsan ravaged to this extent, their connection with Kalinsan is almost completely severed… if Kalinsan becomes the land of faith for Amanata again, it will be even more impossible for them to return to Kalinsan easily.

If not for Anamanta wanting to use this opportunity to resurrect, he would have to stop the Divine Beasts’ massacre before the space blockade in Toril is lifted… after all, as a Sun God, his former accomplishments were all reduced to ashes due to one apocalypse.

To leave an impression in Toril people’s minds again, he must pay a higher price… a joyous path to godhood, like Miliel and Lyril dancing and singing to save people, isn’t for a Sun God with sins.

Therefore, Amanata’s followers risked their lives, voluntarily coming to help these Kalinsanians… as long as Amanata formally resurrects, they would have a good ending even if they died… with a bit of luck, they could enjoy a life of debauchery in Toril for a while, and after dying, enjoy eternal life in Amanata’s Divine Kingdom.

If not for these followers of Amanata, no Deity would concern themselves with Kalinsan’s affairs.

Though these Kalinsanians surely would suffer hardship, possibly even half of them would die, but so what?

For the deities, these Kalinsanians are not their followers, so how could they possibly sacrifice their own Chosen to save them?

At this time, dealing with these hard-to-kill divine beasts is difficult for everyone… Priests are basically useless, Paladins can only rely on their hammers, and the only ones who can use holy power are the Chosen… In Kalinsan, thieves and human traffickers, as well as numerous organized crime groups are everywhere, but temples are virtually nonexistent.

Having never burned incense before, the deities of Toril are not so magnanimous as to allow them to cling to divine feet.

After all, due to the vast number of elemental mages, the Pashas of Kalinsan not only don’t value mages much, but also don’t respect the deities… They only worship their Pashas.

Tyr originally might have lent a hand… but unfortunately, in actual history, he perished alongside Heim… And now, for this God of Justice who isn’t so fond of the world of Toril, he isn’t interested in competing with Amanata for business. As long as someone is willing to save Kalinsan, it’s fine; his Righteous Knights are not the world’s police, they don’t need to meddle in so many affairs.

This disaster happened ten years earlier… but Amanata’s resurrection time hasn’t changed… Fortunately, without Lansendel’s Dawn Calamity, he still has the calamity of the divine beasts in Kalinsan.

The Undead Tribe fought earnestly… these divine beasts were indeed difficult for them to battle.

Level over 10 above them, although they can break through the defenses, basically the damage is very minimal… ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ roared, instructing some precise ice mages to switch to single-target spells.

Although some indeed hit accurately, there are even more who lack such judgment… No, they might not have any judgment at all.

Snow Old Dog shouted in near rage: “Who! Who the hell is so competent? Casting Deep Freeze on a knight? A level 7 spell is for dealing with your own group?

#?! You managed to target the wrong person at such a close distance, and you use a single-target spell? Huh?

Can these big shots please spare others and themselves?

Priests, what are you waiting for! Why not quickly use Dispel Magic? Heal! Are you really looking to freeze a knight to death and bring out some red names?

Though I do want to, what fault do the knights, who’ve worked hard to defend, have?”

The spell Deep Freeze can slowly freeze the Fire God Beast, and with good anticipation, it can even keep the chosen divine beast frozen until its health bar is chiseled away.

But for the Fire God Beast, it only has a binding effect, while for knights at the same level as these ice mages, it’s a deadly move… Health bars are dropping rapidly, and several knights, panicked and disoriented, are already pleading for help… They don’t want to lose experience before even killing a few beasts.

Soon, most ice mages who switched to single-target magic went back to casting Blizzard quietly… only a few of the real experts, capable of seeing and hitting correctly, continued using Deep Freeze on the Fire God Beast.

Luckily, ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ was quite aware and didn’t have the fire mages switch to single-target… The simple and brutal Meteor Fire Rain was enough; if fire element single-target ultimates hit these knights from behind, there would basically be no way out.

The Undead Tribe likely isn’t quite adapted to battle among such swaying environments, so the chances of making mistakes were much higher than before… At this moment, those who couldn’t tell left from right, front from back, very easily exposed their nature.

The Earth mages working diligently below have truly had enough, no need to endure any longer… The location suffering the most friendly fire soon lost maintenance.

Even Snow Old Dog cannot ask these Earth mages to repair the walls at the risk of their lives… Mainly because this risk can be avoided, and it’s not enemy bullet fire; even if they have the determination to block shots, they hope it isn’t from their own side.

Thus, ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ can only keep redirecting, always leaving some section unrepaired… Though it seems unfortunate to others, as nobody knows when the walls beneath them might collapse… Below are enormous divine beasts; falling in would offer little chance of survival.

Snow Old Dog previously assigned these places to those who agreed beforehand… offering high life allowances.

But at this point, there’s nothing left to say… These people can only blame themselves for choosing partners with more than one easily confused companion when forming teams… Hence, forming teams requires caution, as free-forming teams often lead to freely falling down.

If it’s not randomly formed teams, then dying for friends and family leaves no grounds for complaint.
