Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1023: Chapter 817: Celene, Always Looking for Trouble

Although the Undead Tribe will also go to Kalinsan, their apparent employer Vila was only influenced in will, not directly controlled… She couldn’t possibly actively help the Amanata Believers, much less fund their wars.

At most, she might help indirectly… For example, she might happen to take interest in a forest occupied by Air God Creatures, which were coincidentally fighting against the Amanata Believers.

Both Hill and Celene clearly understood Shaer’s hostility towards Amanata; suggesting that the Followers of the Night from Tethyr would cause trouble in between was too normal… But what did that have to do with them?

Celene only wanted to protect the Sun, not Amanata, who was born of the Sun… Anyway, if this Sun God were tricked by Shaer, he would just fall back into slumber again.

As for Hill, with the Undead Tribe around, the most Vila might face is a scare, but not real danger… Apart from Shaer and Celene, there are not many who can handle this Little Flower Fairy in the current Toril; the Cup of Amanata does not have the control to affect her life significantly.

Hill pondered for a moment and realized that the Tethyr Nobility’s plan to exchange economic aid for future local power might actually succeed… The Tablets of Fate wouldn’t let Amanata resurrect so easily… Even without Lansendel, there would be other troubles forcing Amanata to struggle properly.

The resurrection of deities requires combating not only his enemies but also many unexpected troubles… Those are unexpected that can’t be prepared for, no matter how much preparation is done.

Such an outcome isn’t bad; although resurrection will be accompanied by never-ending disputes of interest and conspiracy in the mortal world, it is better than enduring the hostility of Lansendel, who will eventually understand what is going on.

Hill always felt that, according to the normal timeline, the next world-ending cause on Toril probably isn’t the assassination of Mystra again, but Lansendel finally understanding the truth and wanting to teach Amanata a lesson… that guy truly dares to mess with the Sun.

So this is also fine; at least even if Amanata is tricked to death by Shaer in the end, it won’t affect the safety of the whole world… Anyway, he can resurrect again, saving him the trouble of contending with Tyr for the law’s divinity.

In the Kalinsan war, although it seemed like two forces were intervening, it would actually only be the Amanata Believers appearing on the frontlines… This nation, which worships the Lamp Genie, actually has evident marks of Sun worship… It’s just that the influence of the Goddess of Magic is too strong for them to dare to worship openly.

But many buildings in Kalinsan have some solar patterns… Such a nation is indeed the easiest place for Amanata to acquire belief.

This Summer Solstice Ceremony didn’t last long… most of the artistically talented Little Fairies actually left Toril with the Joyous Court. For Vila’s first hosted festival, she only allowed Little Fairies to sign up… The Joyous Court might also be having their own Summer Solstice Festival, but it probably won’t last long either, as they can’t invite artists from other races this time.

The Little Flower Fairies receiving registrations will also make an initial evaluation; only those who pass can perform… So it might be boring, but there will be no fillers, especially those untalented in sound and uncoordinated. Even though they have many little faults and sometimes deceive themselves, they wouldn’t harm their own eyes and ears.

However, it is still a 24-hour carnival; though in the Little Fairy world, it’s too brief, the observing humans are already content. If not compared to other outstanding performers, listening to those hymns wouldn’t feel boring. After all, the voices of the Little Fairies are truly melodious.

At the festival’s final moment, Vila hesitated on the throne for a while before choosing the Swan Fairy with a heavenly voice over a group of little dancers… She didn’t feel like she was making history; she simply got off the throne decisively and placed the Starfire Garland on the head of the astonished little fairy.

As a human-turned Swan Fairy, she mostly belonged to the lowest tier of Little Fairies… Just being allowed to participate and perform for the Queen was already rare, let alone receiving the highest award!

Touching the garland on her head, the beautiful little fairy’s tears gushed out instantly. She finally felt that her decision to abandon her human identity to protect the lovely forest elves wasn’t that wrong… Before this, many Swan Fairies felt stupid due to the Fairy Court’s severe discrimination.

They initially gave up their human ranger identity and accepted the invitation of the Swan Fairy Goddess to transform into swans to protect their friends because they had Little Fairy friends… It was also this belief that kept them until now, eventually finding release in Vila’s impartial treatment.

It wasn’t that they didn’t do well enough, but that they were never compatible with the Joyous Court… The Swan Fairies finally understood why their Main God decided to leave the Outer Court and move back to Toril. She thought Princess Aierla was following Oberon, who once saved her life… Anyway, they usually fly and patrol the forests and wilds of Toril, protecting the solitary Little Fairies, without needing to endure the disdain of the Nobles at the Shady Home.

Vila didn’t realize she did anything; she merely followed the routines of those ceremonies she once participated in… Back when the Little Fairy Court was still on the Toril Land, their practices were relatively simple… She also granted each of the little dancers a ring with a spell that allowed free movement.

Then she gave a few bards a pen that never runs out of ink… These bards, realizing Vila didn’t mind their choice of tunes, daringly used self-composed country ballads, earning Vila’s great praise… The Little Flower Fairies appreciated uniqueness, not dull, eternal hymns.

This time, at the Summer Solstice Festival, Vila essentially shattered the supreme status that Titania had built over tens of thousands of years for the Little Fairy Nobility.

As the queen who presided over the most important Summer Solstice Festival in the Fairy Kingdom… Vila happily announced that her coronation was thus complete… The observing Undead Tribe was in an uproar; they couldn’t quite understand why the festival was so grand, yet the queen’s coronation was just a mere sentence she announced by herself.

But for the Little Fairies, the Summer Festival is the prelude to the queen’s coronation… Participation implies their recognition of Queen Vila.

Hill and the deities observing on the sidelines understood the consequences of Vila’s actions this time… She would inevitably garner the passionate worship of all the common Little Fairies who understood rebellion.

But Vila was only focused on checking the gifts she received… Having stayed at Agleya for many years, she knew well that only sufficient money could get the Undead Tribe to do tangible work.

She would rather not return to Agleya crying to Hill and Oberon for help… That would be too disgraceful, Vila would rather abandon this trip to Kalinsan than become a pathetic figure pleading for parental support.

She was satisfied giving out a few exquisite yet inexpensive magic supplies as rewards to those who contributed the most voted gifts… Vila generously allowed the Undead Tribe, who were spectators, to also cast votes… Hill watched as those exquisite and artistically gifted items were outshined by some amusing and peculiar gifts in the end… He cast a sympathetic glance at Vila on the screen.

If Vila allows the Undead Tribe to vote again next year, she will probably no longer receive many conventional gifts… The Little Fairies might think their queen prefers things that are interesting rather than those that are expensive.

If Vila intends to make money from festival gifts, she should best learn to be a bit more imperious… Relying entirely on the public vote, with thousands of votes from the Undead Tribe involved… her future must be gloomy.

“How many assassins trying to kill this Little Fairy Queen did you catch?” Celene curiously asked Hill.

She had long noticed those vines moving autonomously without wind… They practically every time managed to bite down on a small target.

Although Vila was quite cautious, keeping Windmill Jasmine by her side, unfortunately, no little assassin was able to break through Hill’s tight defense.

“What a strange race.” Shaer also spoke, “Why not blend into the performers? What opportunity is there among the audience? Only getting on stage can bring them closer to that Young Queen, right?”

Hill could only laugh and explain, “The Little Fairies who would attempt to assassinate Vila for Titania, who is completely cut off in the Stellar Realm, must be the most traditional… But the performances at the Summer Solstice Festival are the Little Fairies’ most important stage, a Little Fairy who dares to mess with this event is sure to face the entire race’s contempt.

Even if it isn’t their revered queen hosting the Summer Solstice Festival, they cannot go against this tradition formed over hundreds of thousands of years.

And a truly rebellious Little Fairy would not choose to risk their life for Titania, even if they aren’t loyal to Vila.”

Hill found, that compared to Celene who occasionally watched the excitement, Shaer completely did not understand the race of Little Fairies… At most, Titania and Oberon, who possess Intermediate Divine Power, would catch her attention for a moment.

The Goddess of the Night mostly focused only on those who could create trouble for her or could be used by her.

So, what does William count as? Hill pondered secretly: trouble or usable?

Celene suddenly used a delicate and affected tone, “See, Shaer. Even the weakest of races prefer a gentle and kind goddess!”

Hill instantly tensed, unable to resist glancing at his Crystal Flower.
