Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1024: Chapter 818: Departure! Kalinsan

To Hill’s surprise, Shaer had no intention of making a move. She just said coldly, ”The pretty and adorable Little Flower Fairy shows a condescending, gentle, and amiable side. The little fairies will be moved to tears. If you did the same, people below would probably all run away, wouldn’t they?

At least when I speak, absolutely no one dares to sneak away!”

Hill blinked; he didn’t quite understand the logic behind the sisters’ way of handling things.

If it were Hill, hearing Celene’s intentionally provocative tone, he would have definitely gotten agitated... But Shaer could decisively fight back with words.

Was Celene’s way of speaking not meant to start a war, but just an invitation to a war of words?

Is this the advantage of being sisters for hundreds of thousands of years?

Hill didn’t understand; Hill was greatly shocked... but he could only sip his elf wine expressionlessly... He needed this cool fruit wine to soothe his chaotic emotions.

Celene said indifferently, ”I definitely don’t need devotees who want to take me out every day.”

”So... those who betray you are okay?” Shaer sneered, ”At least Followers of the Night know that betraying me inevitably means death... Silvermoon Devotees dare to make off with your divine artifacts!

But you can’t really blame Laila... After all, she didn’t expect that not only could she become a deity instantly, but Celene could also become her Celene.”

So... was that illusion and lies goddess Laila once Celene’s subordinate, sent to manage Planet Celene as a demigod?

Then Laila seized the opportunity when the Maiden of the Moon’s divine power plummeted and her divinity was lost, to swallow up the divinity related to mist and illusion... She very likely utilized the divine artifacts related to these divinities that Celene let her oversee.

It’s no wonder that, even before humans appeared and elves moved to Toril, she already possessed the divinity of lies... For many years, Laila used illusions to hide herself thoroughly, after all, even though Celene acted like she didn’t care about anything... the Maiden of the Moon was actually convinced that once her divine power was restored, the divinities she lost would surely return, and whether it was Laila or those other two demigods who stole the divinities, they simply couldn’t compete with her.

But the Prince of Lies, Cyric, wouldn’t want anyone to share the divinity of lies with him. If Laila were caught by him, she would surely have no burial place... No deities would save this demigod who betrayed Celene, who doesn’t have a few subordinates themselves?

Hostility among the upper echelons is another matter, so even Celene’s enemies wouldn’t lend a hand to Laila... Any deity would watch as Cyric took out Laila.

The Primordials were initially rejected by many deities, unwilling to accept them as their chosen and subordinates, so they could only choose to vie for power with Aber and the giant dragons, and Laila’s decisive betrayal was the most significant reason.

No matter how broad-minded a deity might be, seeing Celene’s outcome, they wouldn’t give these Primordials a chance... When those demigods chose to betray Celene back then, there wasn’t a hint of hesitation.

You should know that, even though Celene had many flaws, she always trusted herself a great deal... even to prevent them from being harmed... Specifically pointing to Shaer’s thunderous anger at the time, she entrusted them with her limited divine artifacts to manage.

Back then, Celene and Shaer both wielded powerful divine power, and they could sweep through the entire Toril galaxy just by their own strength, so they rarely crafted unnecessary weapons and equipment... As a result, after being reduced to lower rank divine power, Celene herself had nothing to use and could only rely on Silverfire to traverse the world.

”Laila ah!” Celene said in a mystical tone, ”I don’t think she has the ability to evade Cyric’s pursuit, even if he hasn’t come out yet... I guess it won’t be long.

Right? Shaer.”

Shaer quietly left; she wouldn’t reveal what she intended to do, thinking Celene’s simple mind could trick her into speaking out?

Even if everyone knew she was up to something, even if AO was watching her without blinking, as long as they didn’t catch her red-handed, whatever happened had nothing to do with her.

Celene sighed, ”Eh? She left without even arguing... It seems Shaer really wants to extricate herself from the Shadow Realm and send her shadow avatars to Toril; indeed, it’s not easy. Otherwise, she would have at least made a move against me... As expected, losing the Shadow Weave greatly impacts her divine power.

Hmm... Shaer took that eyeball, probably to elevate the chosen! I have to think about it too... But, wasn’t that eyeball taken away by that Hydra Lizard?

Shaer’s followers wouldn’t casually get involved... Could she really be thinking of using the Hydra Lizard as a chosen?

Have I been in the Shadow Realm for too long that I can even see beauty in these snake lizards? She used to only like pretty people!

Should I choose a beastified person, what’s the creature that likes to catch snakes the most?”

Hill listened quietly to Celene’s murmuring, silently sipping his elf wine... Sometimes, it’s hardly surprising that Shaer often wants to strangle her sister.

Hill thinks Shaer wants to promote that Hydra to manage some affairs in the Underdark... For her, the actions of the followers of the night in the Underdark were mainly to serve the surface... Especially the sect of the divine that she annexed in the Underdark, whose main task was to deal with the Silvermoon Cathedral, a considerable force in Northern Ferun.

But now, Shaer’s target is shifting to the Zholar elves who believe in Rose... Honestly, when Shaer and Rose face off, no one can predict where the situation will lead.

The only certainty is that the Zholar, long dominating in the Underdark, will definitely not have good days ahead... Their lifestyle steeped in intrigue and conspiracy, Shaer’s Envoy of the Night won’t even need to exert their full effort... Many once unified kingdoms in Ferun have been destroyed by their sweet words!

Under Rose’s guidance, on average, a female Zholar elf with an active career will give birth to about 10 children before losing her fertility. This is why Zholar retain sufficient combat power despite such terrifying social conflicts... It’s not that the elves on the surface can’t reproduce, but they don’t view it as a task that must be completed.

At that time, the Zholar only needed to deal with their kind... Don’t be fooled by their impulsive attacks on surface elves, the number of Zholar dying in those frenzied battles was not even half of those perishing in their internal strife.

And Shaer plans to hand over the real power in the Underdark to a demigod level Hydra Lizard... This one clearly is the leader of those strong wild beasts in the Underdark.

When dealing with these powerful beasts, the Zholar are the weakest... Schemes and plots are ineffective, and their poisonous arrows are useless against the thick scales armored with multiple defensive spells.

Spells are not worth mentioning; even priests granted with powerful divine arts from Rose cannot withstand these shadow creatures.

Hill couldn’t help but smile, estimating that within ten years, the surface elves wouldn’t need to worry about the Zholar causing trouble anymore... When it comes to sabotage, he absolutely believes in Shaer’s capabilities.

At the final farewell banquet, Vila announced her resolve to travel to Kalinsan to rescue nature... She even openly recruited followers.

The little fairies, upon confirming that the combat would primarily be carried out by the Undead Tribe with their tasks being to assist and rebuild the forest and rivers, eagerly signed up... They entirely trust Vila wouldn’t lie in this regard.

As Hill expected, except for the fairy spirits waiting for Oberon to awaken, and those household brown sprites who dare not appear among crowds, only the pixies who are fond of Agleya stayed behind... The mist created by the Water Maze Lock is too perfect for setting traps, and the Agleya people who are accustomed to encountering illusory realms are indifferent to their pranks.

If they encounter someone bored, they would even cheerfully spend a day with the pixies, pointing out where the tricksters’ illusions went wrong and what to watch out for next time.

While the Little Flower Fairies were compiling the roster of fairies heading to Kalinsan, Vila brought some of the gifts she received to Hill... Among them were those few selected as wonderful gifts - intriguing magical items.

Vila found these items completely useless to her, and their unusual designs made them hard to sell, so she specially brought them to Hill as farewell presents.

Hill looked down at the pile of things on his desk: a makeup brush that can be used to direct and cast spells, with flashy rainbow glows; a red dragon toy for shooting flame arrows; a polar bear toy for frozen rays; a skunk toy for poison spray; a spider toy for web spells. A gnomish inventor’s spoon that can concoct spicy sauce to shoot flame arrows and tasty chicken soup to heal injuries.

The makeup brush and spoon were chosen as the two excellent gifts, and another was a dragon fang crafted into a tie clip said to be centuries old, which could enhance spellcasting effects but required adjustments to the tie each time a spell was cast.

Hill sincerely suspected the Undead Tribe picked the dragon fang tie clip, thinking of a certain eternal student... They’ve heard similar discussions before.

Hill really felt these little fairies were full of whimsical imagination... But Vila deciding to give him these things left Hill speechless.

Hill almost regretted giving Vila the alchemy carriage he made of elf dragon... Vila even confidently claimed these items suited him very well, especially the tie clip and polar bear.

Hill immediately threw the boastful little fairy out of the Magic Tower.

In the end, Hill still ended up gifting the Jasmine Carriage drawn by the butterfly-winged, palm-sized platinum elf alchemical dragon to Vila who was about to set out... As the fairies boarded the enormous magical ship with the Undead Tribe.

Watching the little fairy, with a face full of reluctance yet resolutely leaving, sitting atop the ship disappearing into the horizon, Hill could only silently wish her safety in his heart.
