Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1038: Chapter 832: The Reappearance of Felunryel

The battle and life of the Undead Tribe in Kalinsan entered a calm period... During the two months before the autumn equinox, they almost developed feelings for those divine beasts on the other side.

Some divine beasts would get angry and rush up to smash the wall... Once their excited emotions calmed down, they could escape before the Undead Tribe could deplete their health bars by calling friends to help.

If their passion got out of hand, they would either be picked up by alerted companions or end up as war trophies for the Undead Tribe.

Generally, those who could rush up to pick crystal cores were the former element mages... Even though they abandoned their human bloodline, they retained some sanity and never let their anger lead them to the top of Alamir Mountain to smash walls and court death.

Therefore, they were the first to react when realizing that those impulsive great divine beasts might not return... They hurriedly gathered crystal cores. Although they could do nothing with these crystal cores... it’s not that they didn’t want to, but they couldn’t. When they swore allegiance to the divine beasts, they were bound by an oath not to do anything harmful to the elemental giants.

But as long as they carried these crystal cores, their bodies would become increasingly elemental... If enough time passed, who knew they might transform into true elemental giants.

So, these smaller divine beasts would rush up to collect crystal cores at the fastest speed... leading to numerous conflicts with the Undead Tribe who jumped down the walls to grab high-level materials.

These lesser divine beasts were more cautious... After being tricked several times by the Undead Tribe’s online and offline tactics, they had to be careful... They generally just grabbed a handful and ran, giving up if they couldn’t get anything.

Hill couldn’t possibly sit in the garden for two months, but when he occasionally came out to take a look, he found that the Undead Tribe had already given nicknames to the most ’active’ dozen or so lesser divine beasts... names like ’Swift Escape’, ’Greased Feet’, ’A Gust of Wind’, and the like.

During the waiting period for the Autumn Hunt Festival, the Undead Tribe organized a hunting competition for themselves... Whoever could take down those nicknamed divine beasts would receive a reward... Every day, someone would contribute gold coins to the public prize pool, which had accumulated for a full two months... Whoever could take down one would basically take back nearly ten thousand gold coins.

Even though the lesser divine beasts did not understand why the strange elves on the walls were more enthusiastic about them than the great divine beasts... their crystal cores were flawed, and ten of them might add up to just one of a great divine beast. Normally, enemies should be more interested in the great divine beasts, right?

But facing the reality where these elves would even ignore the soon-to-be-defeated great divine beasts to turn their focus on them, they were increasingly afraid to run up Alamir Mountain.

For the Undead Tribe, although the gambling pool might face bankruptcy, at least they could still collect some crystal cores to sell... so it was not too bad, right?

As the autumn equinox approached, the oak trees in the Undead Tribe campened and finally grew over 5 meters tall... barely qualifying as a venue for a hunting celebration.

Because the Fairy Combat Team under Oberon didn’t come to Kalinsan, Vila found that most of her fairies around her lacked combat ability, so she decided to open part of the celebration’s quota to the Undead Tribe.

’Snow Cloud Peak’, upon receiving the notice, turned pale... The celebration was to be held officially in 7 days, and Vila just mentioned this during a chat with the ’Young Master’.

When mentioning this topic, Vila and the ’Young Master’ didn’t think much of it. Their daily conversations were more about music... Speaking of which, the ’Young Master’ did have quite a talent in music. Not only did he quickly learn about the musical score types in Toril, but he could also use the simplest method to introduce the knowledge about symphonic music to the little fairies.

And ever since he had an inseparable secretary, the ’Young Master’ was even more carefree, using his brain less and less.

But that secretary... Hill picked up from their conversations that he should be a member of the conducting department’s student council... He had good talents, but unfortunately, his family background was ordinary: To say ”ordinary family background” is simple, but for someone seeking achievements in music, it’s considered difficult.

Although he could obtain high scholarships... the scores for conducting are always expensive. To get more, working a job or two is just a normal life.

This secretary wasn’t particularly interested in this game, but he had an account because he wanted some common ground with other students... Besides, this game’s gold coin earnings far surpassed working as a waiter in a café.

This inquiry manager found this guy to follow the Young Master, not only because he was willing to work for money but also because this talent was truly remarkable... For someone like ’Young Master’, who could make him listen quietly, he either shared a similar status or had abilities he recognized, no matter the aspect.

And this secretary was strong from the beginning... Though he was a level lower than the ’Young Master’, he always had an edge over him in internal competitions.

Hill could sense that he was also very interested in the exchanges between the Young Master and the little fairies, listening intently... Initially, he couldn’t quite understand their conversations when he first arrived, but within less than a week, he could even correct a wrong musical note the ’Young Master’ mentioned.

Perhaps due to his keen sense of music, although his personality wasn’t as likable by the little fairies as the ’Young Master’, as the ’Young Master’s’ follower, Vila tolerated his presence, talking to him without banishing him from her territory... The other two conductors didn’t have this fortune.

So it was quite fortunate for Snow Old Dog to learn about this event in advance... Vila initially thought of announcing it on the day of the event, with registration on a first-come-first-served basis.

When ’Snow Cloud Peak’ got the secretary’s notice, he turned pale... He stormed to the Alchemy Hall to find Vila and solemnly told her that lists must be arranged beforehand.

If they had known this matter upon first arriving in Kalinsan, it would have been easiest... Just tell the Undead Tribe that those with the highest merit points could attend the celebration.

But back then, Vila hadn’t considered giving some tickets to the Undead Tribe.

As for rejecting Vila altogether and no one attending... News spreads, especially with a ’Young Master’ sitting nearby. ’Snow Cloud Peak’ wouldn’t choose that path of no return.

He returned to the Temporal Artifact with a belly full of resentment... The Little Fairy Queen, hearing his many reasons, simply handed over 10,000 tickets to Snow Old Dog and then clapped her hands, continuing to discuss the opening performance with the ’Young Master’... They had planned a symphonic performance celebrating the autumn harvest.

Fortunately, William was fairly responsible... ’Snow Old Dog’ realized belatedly that it was a limited-time, limited-entry arena competition meant to occupy them by the game... Undead Tribe members who wanted to participate in this hunt must have over 500 points in the Battle of Kalinsan, then enter the Temporal Arena to select the final 10,000 to compete in the final... The autumn equinox hunting winner would be the champion.

It’s an entertainment match, so except for the champion, everyone else making it to the finals gets a big reward package, with no other rankings.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ casually checked the Undead Tribe’s merit points... As long as they put in a little effort, getting 500 points in Kalinsan was achievable.

Not counting those who joined the fun, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ estimated that there would be around 3 million official participants.

Luckily, neither type of divine beasts had been frequenting the Great Wall of Alamir Mountain much lately... ’Snow Cloud Peak’ quickly distributed registration notices.

Sign-ups would start early tomorrow morning... ending at 10 pm the day after, and then the competition would start on the third day... Although William didn’t say where it would be held, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ guessed it would be a group battle in a large instance.

Otherwise, there’s no way to select 10,000 participants within three days!

Hill watched the announcement on the giant screen happily... The Undead Tribe probably saw this as a long-prepared entertainment event, but Hill knew in his heart that William was definitely suffering from a heavy blow.

The joy of watching others work overtime is delightful!

Hill savored his elf wine with satisfaction.

Hill did feel a bit sorry that the Temporal Artifact didn’t stream the competition... William seemed to have opened a confidential new instance this time, not allowing anyone to record, just letting the Undead Tribe have a first look.

But from the words of the Undead Tribe returning to Toril after watching the first round of battles, Hill heard something familiar... deadly fights in an ever-shrinking toxic circle.

No wonder William dared to claim he could finish the selection match in three days.

Moreover, those who came out of the battle location kept mumbling about how much it resembled the blown-up Felunryel.

Back then, the Ancient Red Dragon didn’t just blow up the portal; the huge volcano at the world’s center, where it and the dragon egg had lived, was also detonated... So although Felunryel still existed, the central mountain range now resembled an apocalypse.

Otherwise, the Dwarf Deity System and Gnome Pantheon wouldn’t have sent their dwarves to Toril, fearing one day that Felunryel would be destroyed by the perpetually erupting volcano... But they didn’t know how to treat these brainwashed poor souls. Even though they now acted quite normal, some inherent things had changed irrevocably... Even the deities could only wait for a long time to solve all their problems.

So, did William directly use that world called Felunryel?

The sulfuric toxic fog caused by the volcanic eruption was indeed a lethal trump card for the toxic circle... and it was truly random, with no detectable probability, purely left to fate.

Hill glanced sideways at Celene’s moonlight... That lady seemed uninterested in Felunryel.

He was genuinely puzzled... For the Toril Gods, the story of Felunryel was best left unspoken... Even some evil gods would be unwilling to admit any connection to that similarly named false god.

Given William’s personality, he wouldn’t stir up trouble by reopening that world... But he went anyway.

Did something happen?
