Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1025: Chapter 819: The War Begins—Arrival at Kalinsan

The magic ship of the Undead Tribe sailed swiftly, without stopping once, directly heading to the southernmost part of Sword Bay, Karinsan, then circled around Mannan and Karin Harbor located on the desert... The names of the two divine beasts, Fire God Beast Mannan and Air God Beast Karin, indicate the importance of these places.

After imprisoning themselves in the Mannan Crystal for nearly ten thousand years, the Karinsan Desert between these two places has become a playground for revelry and conflict among the divine beasts... Clearly, for the Amanata believers coming from the mainland, the main battlefield for battles is also here.

It is said that the Karinsan Desert was once a place ravaged by various factions of plunderers, but now, if these bandits don’t hide fast enough, they can only become slaves or cannon fodder for the divine beasts... The divine beasts will not directly kill these people; in their memory, humans are innately their slaves... Even though some of them once disguised themselves as humans and lived in Karinsan for thousands of years.

The fleet bypassed Karin Harbor and sailed on the Sea of Radiance. The blue, crystal-clear sea water attracted many from the Undead Tribe to stand by the ship’s side and admire... Especially now, in the deep night, under the particularly bright Silvermoon, the sea water glistened resplendently, and beautiful large fish occasionally broke the water among the myriad stars reflected on the sea, gently returning below.

The Sea of Radiance deserves to be the most famous sightseeing sea area in Ferun, truly beautiful... Hill understood the Undead Tribe’s admiration and lingering for this beautiful scene. If Hill had not previously seen the great whirlpool where the Main Temple of Agleya resides, he might have paused to admire it as well.

However, the fleet of the Undead Tribe did not linger long on the Sea of Radiance. They bypassed all the still-inhabited cities, as well as Manshaka, the current capital of Karinsan, and directly reached Suldofir City, located at the mouth of Steam Lake, which has been destroyed by the gods’ war.

This city witnessed Karinsan’s attempt to extend its reach to the Steam Lake area. The original territory of this country was actually on the western side of the Almir Mountains... Hence, this triangular area extending from the mountains does not have the same style abundant in other parts of Karinsan... Instead, it is a sacred land for the learned and a magic research center.

Although the civilian population of Suldofir City is nearly extinct, there remains a fortress controlled by scholars and mages... They certainly know that the Amanata believers are trying to rescue the entire Karinsan. However, it is imaginable that these scholars and mages, who understand the true history, despite being surrounded by divine beasts and surviving with difficulty, will definitely not seek help from the Sun God’s believers.

No one wishes to be associated with Amanata... Especially not the mages, who would rather seek help from devils if not for the Primordial Power having expelled the high-level demons from Toril.

Fortunately, among the scholars here, one established contact with Lynn... The owner of the fortress of order named Amruwen Fortress, Vivian Paxia, quickly used this new communication channel to send an invitation to Agleya, hoping the little fairy accompanying the Undead Tribe coming to rebuild Karinsan could temporarily stay in Suldofir City.

Though the city has been burnt to the ground, at least the place is large enough... and devoid of loathsome scum.

That was the original wording of the letter, and both Hill and Lynn could sense whom the mages were insulting as scum...

After all, the divine beasts are still besieging their fortress!

On the giant screen of the rooftop garden of the Floating Castle, the furious attacking Fire Giant Spirits have appeared.

Hill holding his elf wine jug, sat once again on the long sofa under the Lily of the Valley... He stayed here for quite a long time, so List replaced the bench with a more comfortable sofa.

Although Hill felt a bit like an alcoholic... He used to drink juice, but he really needed the characteristics of elf wine to refresh his mind and calm his nerves.

”Why are all the Fire God Beasts here? Isn’t this area all water! Why don’t they stay in the desert? Haven’t the enemies already arrived?” Celene curiously asked Hill, as she was always the first to arrive when there was any commotion.

Hill originally thought she had no interest in Karinsan... After all, she had shown apparent dislike for Amanata.

Speaking of which, back when Shaer and Celene had their life-and-death battle, though that Mother Earth Shantia withdrew... She indeed lost her dominion over the entire earth due to Shaer’s wrath, with her remaining divinity equating almost only to a Goddess of Agriculture. Thus, she veiled herself with eternal neutrality and rarely appeared before people.

But Amanata was different; he chose not to help either Shaer or Celene... even though his birth was attributed to Celene’s protection.

The most important point is that due to Amanata’s negligence and arrogance, the first Goddess of Magic, Mystree, perished... This powerful divine power born during the battle between Shaer and Celene was the only ”daughter” standing by Celene’s side supporting her.

Celene’s continual tolerance for Mystra’s Chosen using her Divine Fire is merely due to her longing for Mystree... No matter how Mystra changes, it still carries part of Mystree.

Her dissatisfaction with Midnight stemmed from this goddess’s constant denial of the Mystra part within her.

Even Shaer is the same... She had chances to take down the former Mystra before, but never acted as decisively as this time... When Shaer was creating Shadow Magic, Mystree had the opportunity to stop her, but this overly soft-hearted Goddess chose to turn a blind eye.

She stood on Celene’s side, but that was only because Shaer wanted to kill the Maiden of the Moon, not because she had no feelings for her other mother.

Hill could feel that Shaer wasn’t entirely ungrateful... Even though they were constantly in opposition, it didn’t mean she didn’t acknowledge Mystree’s existence.

Their hostility towards Amanata was almost never concealed... So why did AO want to resurrect Amanata?

Was it to prevent Shaer and Celene from continuing their fight, giving them a common target? And with Mystra, who would inevitably seek revenge for a part of herself, what would Amanata’s days be like upon returning?

”Due to the summoning after Karin and Mannan’s return, many residents of Kalinsan, who once appeared human, have shed their long-standing disguises, exposing their true identities as Divine Beasts. Though they were merely inheritors of Elemental Power, as long as they swore allegiance to the Fire God Beast or the Air God Creature, those two great Divine Beasts would accept them as one of their own,” Hill calmly relayed the intelligence brought by the Harpist.

”What do you mean by shedding disguises? And swearing allegiance? If they were originally Divine Beasts, why would they need to swear?” Celene quickly caught onto the key point.

”It means those Element Mages of Kalinsan completely gave up their human bloodline, transforming into Divine Beasts.” Shaer also joined in, ”Isn’t this normal? Humans will always bow to powerful forces.”

”Not all humans are like that,” Celene instinctively retorted, ”Look at Hill when you speak, and think about that William... whether they have Elven Bloodline or sit on the Divine Throne, they have never denied their human identity.

You speak like this, making it difficult for Hill! Also, that William, even if he can’t hear our conversation, you’ve truly hurt him!”

The human used as an excuse, Hill, remained silent... Humans have long been accustomed to matters of general targeting... race, region, gender, everything can be a target, and he was already numb to it.

Shaer paused for a few minutes, probably pondering Celene’s words... To be honest, Hill didn’t think this Goddess of the Night would consider his feelings; all the silence could only be for William... Hill had always felt like the crow loved for its house.

Then he heard the blunt words of the Goddess of the Night: ”Hill and William aren’t that foolish; they would never subject themselves to ridicule... Unlike you.”

Celene laughed lightly, ”Actually, you just need to add ’Toril’ in front of humans, wouldn’t that solve it? Hill and William aren’t Toril people.

Hehe~ dear sister, why do you always get caught up in these completely unnecessary things?”

”Probably because my intelligence is relatively high,” Shaer’s answer was straightforward and crisp.

Celene wasn’t bothered at all by Shaer claiming to have higher intelligence than her, which was true after all... It didn’t count as an insult to her... It’s not like suggesting she had no intelligence, now that would be an insult.

The battle mode of the Undead Tribe this time was simple... Once they knew who their opponent was, most of the family mages spent money to switch attributes... William once again completed the task of reclaiming Gold Coins, and nearly all of it was spent on acquiring specialties and gifts from Vila’s side, mainly nectar and gemstones... It seemed there was an assembly line factory inside the Temporal Artifact, so the Undead Tribe’s equipment began a new round of updates after this underground war.

Although he didn’t know much, William followed the most basic economic policies to ensure the normal circulation of currency... Hill felt he couldn’t do that; he was completely an example of squandering family resources.

The giant screen instantly turned into a world of ice and snow, the Undead Tribe’s large ship disappeared suddenly, the sea surface froze into ice, countless blizzards rushed towards those raging Fire God Beasts in the coastal city... On the fortress they were besieging, the black-gold Earth Magic Barrier was already on the verge of crumbling.

Although Hill knew this mage-controlled fortress wasn’t that easily broken, he still breathed a sigh of relief for them... This barrier was likely maintained by Vivian Paxia, with a distinct Kalinsan Magic Arts style. This spell was strong but consumed the user’s life force and could only be used in the city he guarded... It’s not without reason that the Pashas became the rulers of Kalinsan.

If time dragged on, Vivian Paxia’s power would gradually weaken until he lost his life. This Pasha was truly fighting with all his might.
