Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1026: Chapter 820: The Decisive First Battle

Hill was actually a little surprised. Although Kalinsan was a dark and corrupt country, the Pasha of Amruwen Fortress was unexpectedly an upright person. No wonder he managed to keep so many scholars and mages staying in his fortress.

The Fire God Beasts attacking Amruwen Fortress quickly gathered together fiercely and charged towards the Undead Tribe… they didn’t run away.

“Were they really human magicians before?” Celene couldn’t help but ask, “The difference in numbers is so great, why don’t they run?”

“Abandoning human bloodline and appearance is not just a saying.” Shaer said indifferently, “The rationality and emotions given to them by their human bloodline are, of course, also abandoned. Now they’re no different from those brainless Elemental Giants who only know brute force.”

The Undead Tribe probably didn’t expect these divine beasts to charge directly… the knights at the forefront, sliding and charging on the ice, collided head-on with the huge Fire Spirits. Their ice shields, which resembled white transparent eggshells, sizzled from the fire’s heat.

The collision between the two sides produced a huge sound… The Fire God Beasts didn’t expect anyone to directly collide with them either, after all, their burning flames had an undefendable nature… they could directly pass through those so-called protective flame barriers.

However, the Undead Tribe was well prepared. Those who could change their attributes switched to ice attributes, and even those who couldn’t had put on ice-series armor… Armor made from Luskan’s specialty Azure Magic Ice was very specific in countering them, and these knights always had ice shields on them.

Then these brainless Fire God Beasts were completely covered by endless ice and snow… initially, it was only those who reacted the fastest that made a move, but now, it’s all the ice mages simultaneously casting a Blizzard… Most importantly, the knights with continuously replenished ice shields weren’t easily harmed, and the mages could cast spells without worry.

This is why the Undead Tribe knights chose ice protection armor… Rather than endure the pain of being roasted by fire, they were more afraid of dying at the hands of their own people.

Celene probably also understood why the Undead Tribe covered themselves with ice protection as her bell-like laughter echoed through the air: “Haha~ Haha~ To deal with Fire God Beasts, knights wear ice armor… The entire Ferun Great Land is probably in a daze… Are the Teraxil Elves so inaccurate in spellcasting?”

“The Undead Tribe is a bit different… Before Toril was completely closed off, William added an aiming device for them with divine arts, but now, his divine power can only provide the energy for their existence in Toril, so the auxiliary attack ability has been cancelled… There are so many of them that even if only a tenth are inaccurate, it’s enough to take out the knights in front.” Hill thought for a moment before offering an explanation.

Though unsure if AO noticed their corner, Hill still didn’t intend to mention the God of Time and Space… Let William stand at the forefront!

Many things about the Undead Tribe are difficult to explain clearly… Hill reckoned neither Celene nor Shaer would understand why William went to such lengths to give them spell immunity and targeting abilities.

But aiming devices are quite normal… Instances of the Toril Gods accidentally injuring the wrong targets happen frequently, and during wars, these two have caused countless friendly-fire incidents.

This time, the Undead Tribe willing to go on an expedition to Kalinsan, reportedly over 50 million, is considered decent… This part of them enjoys battles under the sun.

Another portion remained in the Underworld exploring unknown areas. Though there’s no sun, they thoroughly enjoy those strange monsters and are opening those pre-registered tunnels.

As long as they don’t enter the Underdark, neither the Zholar, Dwarves, nor even the Eye Demons or Soul-sucking Monsters will actively make enemies of the Undead Tribe… The outcome of the Dilo Dwarves and Zholar is enough to be shocking. If this group of crazy elves were to come for another subterranean expedition, no one would be able to bear it.

So, the monsters with a bit of intelligence have mostly retreated into the Underdark or moved to other sub-surface areas… The place where the Undead Tribe took action is mostly between Hidden Town and Luskan… Hill didn’t plan to have them go toward Neverwinter.

He truly hoped the Haber Family and Neverwinter could be tied more closely together… So, he definitely couldn’t alert the enemy or let them turn against each other just yet.

By the time those Fire God Beasts realized they should probably run, it was too late. All that was left on the ground were hundreds of black-red crystal cores… This marked their impure bloodlines. True Fire God Beasts, once dead, would leave behind only fire-red crystal cores.

Although these guys died, one could say they were never truly dead.

If not destroyed, a new Fire God Beast would be born from these crystal cores… but this would be a brand-new life, and though there may be some inherited memories, it’s no more than watching an old movie; it wouldn’t affect the ideal of the new giant spirit… Only the soul of a divine beast at the demigod level is indestructible.

Hill had just observed that these Fire God Beasts, transformed from human magicians, were all above level 20; otherwise, the Undead Tribe’s eighth-circle Blizzard would have already wiped them out… There would have been no time or space for attempted escape.

Those magicians before probably had a hard time reaching even level 12… Kalinsan’s fire and qi element magicians are quite famous, easy to awaken, but rarely advance to intermediate levels.

But after all, they are still in magic-based professions, so most of these Elemental Mages are middle-ranking officials in the major cities of Kalinsan, and the rest also hold significant positions.

This is also the reason why the nation of Kalinsan almost collapsed in an instant… No country can withstand such a terrifying betrayal and still persist.

The Undead Tribe’s commanders had some logistics personnel collect all these spoils… These items, considered their combat gains, do not need to be handed over to Vila. The Temporal Artifact offers a decent purchase price, which is then evenly distributed among each participating member of the Undead Tribe… Those who fought for less than 2 minutes are not eligible to participate in the distribution, which is already a very lenient distribution condition.

This time the commander was still ‘Snow Cloud Peak’, but one of his deputies had directly become ‘Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’.

Hill did not offer Vila any advice… however, the Little Fairy had memorable impressions of these two people and directly designated them from a list of commanders William provided her.

Therefore, ‘Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ wasn’t nauseated for nothing this time, as Vila previously did not remember him.

What Hill found most unbelievable was that another deputy was explicitly appointed by Vila as ‘Young Master’.

Previously, the residents of Hill’s Domain were most familiar with the people of Black Rose, and Vila was actually quite familiar with those from the Undead Tribe as well… but it was evident that the Little Fairy was closest with the Youth Journey of the Wenjian World and trusted them immensely… The task of ‘Young Master’ as a deputy of ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ was to ensure he didn’t do anything to harm the interests of the Little Fairy.

Though Hill didn’t intend to ask for reasons, Vila happily explained… only ‘Young Master’ and his family members would play hide-and-seek games for days and nights with the Little Fairies… Wenjian’s people regularly played with their animal companions at the port, joined by fearless Little Fairies looking for fun.

Hill actually found it quite exasperating… although the flow of time for the Undead Tribe was different from theirs, shouldn’t ‘Young Master’ have graduated by now? Yet he was still able to play joyfully with the Little Fairies.

Is this what is called the eternal innocence of a literary youth?

‘Snow Cloud Peak’ was somewhat unaccustomed to his other deputy, consulting ‘Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ on most matters… It’s not that he looked down on ‘Young Master’, but rather, this person’s thinking was a bit too jumpy, Old Dog preferred to proceed cautiously, even if it meant having a fifty to sixty percent certainty before taking risks.

However, ‘Young Master’s suggestions barely had even a one percent chance… that wasn’t called taking a risk, it was called courting death… Although the Undead Tribe wouldn’t truly die, excessive loss of experience could still lead to rebellion.

Luckily, ‘Young Master’ actually had some self-awareness… proposals being rejected only made him shrug and smile… yet he thoroughly followed ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ and ‘Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’, diligently recording their discussions.

He was genuinely fulfilling his duties as a Supervisor.

Amruwen Fortress in the center of the ruins finally confirmed that reinforcements had arrived… after seeing Vila’s gorgeous Fairy Dragon Carriage and the thousands of Little Fairies flying around the carriage.

Few Toril people had seen so many Little Fairies, and it was evident at a glance that the main guests had arrived… Soon, Vivian Paxia, dressed in traditional white robes, led a group of mage scholars out to greet them.

The Undead Tribe did not participate in this meeting; instead, they instructed the Earth Mages to clean up the ruins near the coast. Once a sufficiently large clearing was obtained, they began projecting a magic array, and the sight of tens of thousands of mages simultaneously inscribing an array left the mages and scholars behind Vivian Paxia unable to control their gaze.

Only Paxia continued to engage in small talk with the Little Fairies, trying to discern what this self-proclaimed Fairy Queen of Toril, Vila, intended for Kalinsan… He simply couldn’t believe that rebuilding the natural cycle was truly this Little Fairy Queen’s objective.

Even though he was a rather decent Pasha, the nation of Kalinsan had always been arrogant… they even considered the northern civilization to be a fleeting barbarian culture!

In Kalinsanians’ perception, social status is measured not by wealth itself but by the ability to live comfortably within that wealth… those with money and power would never seek trouble unnecessarily unless there was a larger benefit.

Thus, Vivian Paxia persistently attempted to glean further motives from Vila’s words… he absolutely did not believe in the explanation of rebuilding nature to gain the favor and trust of Natural Consciousness.

But Vila didn’t care what humans thought… the Little Fairies kept complaining endlessly about the absence of forest aura nearby, claiming Kalinsan was a nation cursed by nature.
