Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1015: Chapter 809: Burying the Enemy, Searching for Treasure

The Wax Melt Demon trapped in the Silverfire couldn’t even muster a scream; even the formidable Vikna’s Claw stood no chance against the joint attack from these two goddesses.

Watching the giant candle slowly melt, Hill suddenly stood up, then slowly sat down again... He’d never imagined witnessing the collaboration between Shaer and Celene with his own eyes one day.

Her courtyard echoed with Celene’s silver-bell-like laughter, which sounded lively and light.

It was rare for Celene not to speak at length... No matter what Shaer was thinking when she acted, the sisters between them have gathered almost unwavering hatred like the ancient snow mountain, and now, quietly, appeared a crack.

No one knew where this crack would lead... Maybe it would become a small stream flowing down an ice mountain, even if only trickling, it would always exist.

Or maybe it would be refrozen due to an overly cold external environment.

But at least, on this day, which no one expected, it occurred.

Hill silently lowered his eyes; probably, in the conversation between the sisters that day, Shaer still felt Celene’s touch of sisterly affection... when she used to be Suren, the Maiden of the Moon couldn’t achieve this.

Though many things were self-inflicted by her, downgrading from mighty divine power to a weak deity that could only depend on others for survival was an intolerable humiliation for the proud Suren.

However, when she returned to the identity of Celene, she seemed to have regained her past calmness and composure... Even if the twin sister once knocked her down to a weak position, Celene could still think of Shaer’s good past... Perhaps it could be said that the goddess forgot the pain after healing, but at least now, Shaer seems unusually accepting of her sister’s goodwill.

Hill didn’t know what Shaer aimed to do; he didn’t quite believe that Shaer simply forgave her mindless sister... But at least, for Shaer, the absolutely unforgivable Celene had transformed into an exploitable presence.

This was good; Hill thought, having experienced all those things the deities of Toril went through, even the most adept at forgetting hatred, Celene, actually understood that the divide between the Evil Faction and the Kind Alignment is perpetually unavoidable.

But as long as Shaer doesn’t get lost in direct confrontation as soon as something relates to Celene, like in the past, Toril could actually face less turmoil... Even if the desire for world extinction still resides in Shaer’s heart, but as Celene mentioned, she will do everything to prevent it, that’s sufficient.

At least, Toril people can die less for some inexplicable reasons... When Shaer’s followers want to flatter her, they might slaughter all the residents of a city that once praised the moon.

But being born human, who hasn’t praised the moon at some point?

With Shaer’s character, she actually doesn’t care about those senseless slaughters... She hopes her followers overthrow a nation, topple a faction, never caring about civilian casualties... But if those civilians are Suren’s believers, it catches her attention.

Followers of evil deities are skilled at sneaky outrages... If they truly acted according to the teachings of those evil gods, they’d have been exterminated entirely by the righteous gods long ago.

However, for Hill, this matter, which could shock all Toril to madness, wasn’t so significant... As a Teraxil person, he need not concern himself with the future of Toril that, despite constantly hovering on the brink of destruction, continues to survive safely.

He was just immensely pleased staring at his oil painting... As a medium used by Celene, though the Maiden of the Moon hadn’t added any spells to the oil painting itself, she did embed Silverfire onto the exterior frame.

The originally brown-black frame had now turned milky-white, emitting a gentle silver glow; between the frames on both sides of the oil painting appeared a pair of handles like gauntlets... These should enhance the defense power of the person holding the oil painting and allow the owner to open a Dimensional Gate: teleporting from one moonlit place to another moonlit place.

The rest of the frame revealed round, smooth opals with hollow interiors: the liquid inside, almost like condensed moonlight, should be Moon Healing Potion directly crafted by Moonfire.

With Hill’s understanding of creations made from Moonfire, opals are generally referred to as Moon Dust... Each piece of Moon Dust can be directly used, which is essentially equivalent to a Dance of Light Spell used by a level 22 mage.

And the Moon Healing Potion inside, while it might not be crucial to Hill, as he himself knows Water healing spells and can refine most healing potions... But in Toril, it’s already the top-tier healing potion... Most importantly, if bitten by Beastified People, the Moon Healing Potion can directly cure beastification virus.

Celene didn’t leave any Moonfire attack capacity for Hill... The goddess knew Hill’s destructive power well, the damage from Blade of the Moon might not be stronger than Hill’s fist.

But Hill was extremely satisfied; the oil painting could almost complete most war preparation just by its appearance.

War anxiety was a common affliction for people like Hill; even though he was unlikely to participate in battles, he still felt the more capabilities he possessed, the better.

The only pity is that the function of oil paint replication did not extend to incorporating Celene’s Moonfire... Teraxil’s Sun God had no intention of letting Hill replicate the frame alongside replication.

The Undead Tribe seems to be stirring again. Hill looked up; the giant spider, along with Vikna’s Claw, was burnt to ash by the Moonfire... Vikna is truly in a streak of bad luck. Not only were his left hand and left eye stolen from his world, but now he’s lost something else entirely.

However, Hill actually most wants to know what kind of abilities Vikna’s head possesses... It’s something that anyone who has ever played a tabletop game would have thought about... Ah... a terrifying fantasy story.

What a pity, he hasn’t had the chance to encounter the real Vikna... And even if he did, it’s unlikely he would be able to bring up this topic.

Hill regretfully watched as the Undead Tribe began dragging corpses. They used something like a long dustpan to push the small bodies into a small cave at the bottom of the volcano.

Who knows who invented this trash collector... It’s probably designed by the Undead Tribe specifically for cleaning battlefields. Although the Undead Tribe takes on every kind of task, they will still come up with various ways to avoid too much inconvenience, especially for tasks involving corpses and garbage.

Last time, Hill even saw a vacuum cleaner as big as a carriage... Though they use few Alchemy Runes, they do have quite good inspiration for daily life.

The thing is... These items can only be used by them, since they all consume Energy Baryte.

Mages basically choose to solve problems with spells, while those who need these things are usually lower-level Professionals or ordinary people... But they absolutely wouldn’t spend that kind of money.

As for non-magical high-level Professionals and Nobles... They prefer to use servants.

In the world of Toril, the least valuable item is people, and the most valuable item is people.

However, some wealthier citizens of Teraxil might buy these creations... With the personality of the Undead Tribe, as long as the materials aren’t expensive, they can make anything as cheap as cabbage.

So for the Teraxil people, the only concern is whether they can afford the Elemental Crystals.

Although these dustpans look small, each one can hold a large number of corpses, allowing a few thousand people to clean the battlefield and the camp behind it all at once... Hill estimates each uses Wind Crystals and Space Crystals to achieve this effect.

If we talk about cost, each is worth at least a few dozen Elemental Crystals... However, for the Undead Tribe, these are necessary items for a mission, and having them means securing the garbage collection task.

That’s not big money, who can’t afford them?

But the undead who accepted the task were all cursing foully.

This Divine Artifact has wiped out even the children. The Undead Tribe deeply despises such actions... But they despise Dilinca even more, as it is clear that he sacrificed his believers on the altar.

If the world hadn’t collapsed, resulting in this Evil God being thrown from Toril, the fate of these Dilo Dwarves would likely have been the same... Otherwise, the life force of even children and newborns wouldn’t be tethered to that Claw.

Such a chain based on Dilo Dwarves genes can only be done by this god of their race.

Whether the Undead Tribe figured it out themselves or William gave them the plot, they have been cursing around that cave... Hill estimates the deities monitoring the situation here all understand.

William didn’t even block their curses of Dilinca, except for some overly vulgar ones... So, within the passionate cursing of the Undead Tribe, there are frequent brief silences, but they are used to this kind of slip resulting in a mistake, and they can smoothly pick up the next line.

After confirming all the corpses had been thrown into that cave, the Earth Mages sealed the entire large hole and erected a stele for these Dilo Dwarves, uncertain if they count as pitiful, finally using Mud into Stone to turn the entire mound into a large tomb.

Though the atmosphere felt a bit mournful, the emotions of the Undead Tribe quickly shifted, and someone already started to cheer... Finally, it was time to collect the spoils.

The Dilo Dwarves still had a lot of precious metals and gemstones, after all, Dilinca was very skilled in the making of Magical Items, so his followers, especially those identified as Magic Experts, were quite skillful.

However, most Magical Items turned to ashes along with the Dilo Dwarves, leaving only the most junior ones, which were dumped into every stone house.

Though the Undead Tribe dug three feet into the ground to place these items into their small bags, they still haven’t found the family treasure vault of these Dilo Dwarves... They continued to search inch by inch through the settlement of Dilo Dwarves, shouting ”Ransack everything! Search for needles in haystacks!”
