Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1036: Chapter 830

Hill struggled to suppress his laughter… Shaer is quite familiar with some of the insults popular among the Undead Tribe!

Celene remained silent for a few minutes before asking, with a peculiar tone, “Although I’m not sure of the exact meaning of your words, I can tell you’re insulting me… But if I don’t understand what you’re saying to insult me, wouldn’t it make you feel uncomfortable?”

Shaer sneered, “Do you now feel like there are ten thousand Little Fairies flying in your Mental Sea? How could you allow yourself to not understand? Seeking insults is something your curiosity can’t resist.”

“So… what does this mean?” Celene asked nonchalantly.

Shaer was actually hoping Celene would know… Especially since the Maiden of the Moon was genuinely willing to seek insults herself, it made her even more delighted. “It’s a saying from the Undead Tribe… It means someone is a bit foolish, with only water in their head and no intelligence… How fitting for you!”

Celene understood the implication and replied, “Moonlight is indeed beautiful when it’s over the sea!”

It seems they’re not discussing the moonlight reflected in the pool, but rather Celene’s divinity as a sea navigator over many years… Which makes sense, considering these two entities, the water in the ocean is abundant.

But did Celene just accept that her head had been soaked?

Hill felt a bit baffled… Every time the Maiden of the Moon appeared, she managed to leave him with a brand-new impression… He profoundly grasped how great the benefits of overwhelming Fate can be.

Celene wasn’t that foolish; she simply got used to answering the questions related closely to her from Shaer’s remarks… As for her intelligence, if others were to insult her, she might react more strongly, but Shaer’s words… After being despised for low intelligence by her twin sister for hundreds of thousands of years, Celene had become accustomed to it.

The Maiden of the Moon said cheerfully, “Actually, you know it~ I just prefer not to think too much, which doesn’t mean I’m stupid~ My twin sister… Don’t forget, everything was identical when we were born.

It’s just that later on, I preferred using intuition, and you liked thinking on your own.”

Shaer said coldly, “But your intuition isn’t always accurate.”

“Nor is your thinking!” Celene quickly countered, “Isn’t Toril now the result of your thinking? If I didn’t feel your planning wouldn’t have good outcomes, I would have exposed you when you secretly met with Cyric!”

Hill’s mouth twitched… The All Gods of Toril have always been cold towards the Maiden of the Moon, and it’s truly apt… She surely knows who Cyric and Shaer are conspiring against.

As for what she exclaimed about intuition… It can only be said that Celene didn’t like Midnight and thus was uninterested in interfering with her affairs… If there was any intuition, it might be that the matter posed no harm to her!

Shaer remained silent… Celene knew best how she truly felt about Shaer, her sister… If she was still in Suren, full of hatred towards Shaer, but once there was hope of slowly reclaiming her divinity, although she was fierce in confrontation, she indeed wouldn’t aim to kill Shaer, even helping her at critical moments.

Celene’s current attitude is quite clear; as long as Shaer doesn’t really destroy the world… that is, reaching a point where not even AO could salvage it, such as blowing up the Sun or trying to kill Celene again, she can turn a blind eye.

Celene didn’t mind Shaer’s silence… Her proud sister willing to open her mouth and express emotions is hard to imagine… If one day Shaer discussed sisterly affection with her, Celene would probably only worry that Shaer had found a way to eliminate her utterly.

Though it seems peaceful now, Celene dares not truly believe Shaer will easily give up the idea of eliminating her… If she died, Toril’s fate would be worse than when the Goddess of Magic fell.

If Mystra died, Primordial Power merely rioted, but if she, Celene, were truly eliminated, Primordial Light would completely vanish… It wouldn’t appear again until she resurrected.

With only Primordial Darkness remaining, wouldn’t Shaer have the eternity of silence she desires?

Celene never doubts her twin sister’s ruthlessness and callousness… Shaer is calm now only because she knows she can’t eliminate Celene.

But she doesn’t care… Celene believes she’s not that easy to eliminate.

She said with a grin, “By the way, adorable Edna is still in the Hidden Town studying! Following a group of Fairies in her magic class, that female leader of the Mithril Elves seems to really like her, even teaching her Elf Runes!

How fun! Learning Elf Spells from the Mithril Elves.

And she’s also learning how to be a proper lord from the White Dragon Queen; I think she’s learning much more than when she was in Josse Garden.

Now, Midnight not only knows how to manage subordinates, how to interact with colleagues, and how to communicate with friends normally, but also has a deep understanding and agreement with the Orderly Evil Faction, firmly situating herself in the Orderly Neutral Faction… Once Azuth knows the truth, he’ll probably dive into a sea of Holy Water and never want to see anyone again.

“He doesn’t even teach students as well as a White Dragon!”

Hill pressed his temples… Celene was laughing too brazenly, her malice unmistakable.

He didn’t mind that the Mithril Elves were teaching Edna Elf Runes… Hill had long noticed that human Mage’s magic runes, back when they arrived in Luskan, Edna had already learned most of them… Black Eye indeed had a gift in this area, even teaching students well.

Elves never had a concept of secrecy in this regard… Previously, few people studied Elf Runes because few humans could gain elven acceptance… Elves themselves had many shortcomings, but for outsiders, especially the short-lived races who were greedy and impatient, they set very high standards.

But if they meet a true powerhouse, they exhibit great grace… For example, Elminster, who was recognized by the Goddess of Elf Runes and was even invited to reside for a time in her Divine Kingdom in the Outer Realm.

If the female leader of Hidden Town truly likes Edna, then even if she discovers her identity later, she won’t regret it, and might even feel proud for having taught the Goddess of Magic!

But what Hill didn’t anticipate was that Celene was so focused on Edna’s matters… Hill didn’t even know Edna was learning Elf Runes from the Mithril Elves.

He really suspects that once Mystra returns to Josse Garden, Celene will turn the events of this period into little songs and sing them all over Toril, and he can only hope Edna doesn’t expose more embarrassing details… If this continues, Hill really fears Mystra’s next death might be due to exploding from excessive shame.

Shaer wasn’t surprised by Celene’s attention to that Midnight, nor by the barely concealed schadenfreude in her tone… She’s well aware that although the reasons both she and Celene dislike Mystra are mostly different, the most crucial reason is certainly the same… They both think this human Female Mage has gotten more than she deserves yet remains ungrateful.

Clearly relying on Mystra’s remains, transforming from a talentless fool unable to properly use spells into a powerful Divine Power, yet complaining daily, cursing her foolish predecessor… Constantly reminiscing about her precarious days in the Mortal World, being hunted down without assurance of survival!

Their adventuring party was unfortunate because the Three Gods of Death took a fancy to Cyric, not because of the previous Mystra.

Black Eye didn’t know her adventuring led to being directly killed by Heim! Not even AO anticipated it… Who’d have thought Heim would become a fool over the death of an ex-girlfriend!

Who believes Midnight truly wants to return to the past! If she has the guts, let her die once… Isn’t her former lover the Grim Reaper?

Perhaps she’d transform into a Grim Reaper afterward!

But in that case, she’d only exist as a faint Divine Power or even a Demigod dependent on a man, which she probably wouldn’t want.

Although Shaer also detests the former Mystra, Black Eye at least behaves like a true Goddess.

Celene suddenly asked Hill, “Hill, you don’t seem to plan on telling Coron about Edna’s matters?”

“There’s no need to say anything… Coron is really focused on the Undead Tribe matters, and now he should have figured it out.” Hill answered flatly, “Edna’s magical talent has already surpassed the existence of a normal person… After the first collapse of the Weave, even the most outstanding magical talent couldn’t integrate so quickly with the Weave, let alone during the current semi-collapse of the Weave.

She has already touched the sixth circle of the Weave before reaching adulthood.”

Edna mingles with the Undead Tribe year-round, and during her spare time, she joins them on missions… Before they departed for Kalinsan, Hill saw her release Chain Lightning with ease… This spell is rare among Sixth Circle Spells.

Mages newly entering the sixth circle would generally choose Bigby’s Hand, mid-range violent spells like those, rather than remote spells, which require control like Chain Lightning.

When Edna officially went adventuring at 16, Hill wondered who could pose a crisis for this young girl… She had the cunning White Dragon Queen with her, elite education from the Undead Tribe, and her own magic skills were exceptionally strong.

Hill estimates that even if Shaer doesn’t release Cyric, AO would have to find a way to make Cyric escape on his own to introduce some challenges on Edna’s adventure… It wouldn’t take much effort; with just a crack, Cyric would slip through on his own.

Although Hill didn’t directly answer, Celene understood… After all, Hill spoke straightforwardly, he really feared if Celene couldn’t understand, she’d chase him for why he wasn’t telling his ancestor about this.

Shaer wouldn’t ask such foolish questions… From the elves’ behavior, it proves Coron hasn’t gotten any information from that side!

The Father of Elves never understood the concept of keeping things confidential, always acting with flamboyance.
