Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2090.5- Brave Trial

Yet a tiny Star-Eye Clan actually had this much?

He carefully recalled the Star-Eye Clanʼs history and felt it could be somewhat explained. This race had existed for a very long time, had once been glorious, and had even produced that stunningly talented yet very unruly genius figure. Even if it had declined, having some family assets was normal.

He estimated that most, if not all, of these Red Condensation-grade items were what they had hidden away over the years. The remaining ones were probably purchased specifically for this battle by exhausting their entire fortune.

He greatly appreciated this kind of daring, all-or-nothing approach.

Many beings actually disappeared into the river of time precisely because they didnʼt know when to ʼgo all outʼ at certain moments.

The referee believed the Star-Eye Clanʼs approach was correct.

But...

Whether it was the spectators present or this major clan referee, they were all shocked by the Star-Eye Clanʼs next action.

Because they started bringing out... Raini Grade equipment.

”Whoa, am I seeing things? What kind of equipment is that?”
”Youʼre not seeing things; I think itʼs the Huaitang Clan thatʼs blind, or rather, Dark Strip City, even the cosmic races, are blind.”

”Raini Grade, let me count, see how many pieces.”

”Itʼs not strange for the Star-Eye Clan to have Raini Grade; after all, theyʼve weathered storms for so many years. But can they have this many?”

”Ten pieces, ten pieces in total!”

”Does that include that mechanical war beast?”

”Yeah, a Raini Grade mechanical war beast, my god, is this the Star-Eye Clanʼs foundations?”

”Fortunately, only ten pieces. I think itʼs still within normal range.”

”Normal? Does your clan have ten Raini Grade pieces?”

”Well... actually, yes.”

”Who are you kidding? Do you know how much Moonspan Gold one of these things costs?”

”Well... really, no kidding. Our race has also existed for so many years. Donʼt we even have ten Raini Grade pieces? In the past, there were instances of the Star-Eye Clan selling Raini Grade. To make ends meet, they sold some. To get through this crisis, couldnʼt they also spend all their wealth to buy some?”

This explanation was quite reasonable.

Just like those Red Condensation-grade equipment earlier, for a race like the Star-Eye Clan that had existed for many, many years, producing ten Raini Grade pieces shouldnʼt be an inconceivable matter.

”Itʼs just... a Raini Grade war beast, still feels incredible.”

That person finally concluded, also voicing everyoneʼs doubts.

Maybe everyone had Raini Grade equipment, but a Raini Grade mechanical war beast—that was something ordinary races couldnʼt possess. The Taros Red Dwarves rarely put equipment of this grade up for sale.

Red Condensation-grade was their main moneymaker.

”Are both sides ready?”

The referee had just recovered from his shock, taking a deep look at that imposing two-headed Raini Grade mechanical war beast, and began inquiring about both sides.

The Star-Eye Clan immediately responded, while the Huaitang Clan, who had been mocking the Star-Eye Clan earlier, was somewhat silent.

Earlier, they had laughed at others for being beggars; now it seemed they themselves were the beggars. The other side had over a thousand Red Condensation-grade pieces; what did they have? Only a few hundred! Reportedly, this was purchased by the chieftain overruling all objections, spending a huge sum to buy from the other eight factions in Dark Strip City.

As for Raini Grade... well, the two leading figures each had two pieces on them, and one particularly favored high-level clansman had one piece, totaling five pieces.

Looking at that fierce mechanical war beast, the Huaitang Clan warriors preparing for battle felt that even if they won today, they didnʼt know how many people would die.

Thinking that the one to die might be themselves, they felt utterly terrible.

”Iʼm asking you, ready or not?” the referee called out discontentedly, which finally got a response from the Huaitang Clan people.

”Then, I declare the Brave Trials now officially begin!”

After giving the order, the referee announced the start of the battle, and he also withdrew from the central position between the two sides, standing in a corner of the arena.

There was no terrain; it was just a flat, open area. A major reason the Star-Eye Clan was not favored in this battle was because of this. After all, the Star-Eye Clan specialized in assassination, not this kind of face-to-face combat. Here, even before the battle started, the Star-Eye Clan had effectively crippled thirty percent of their own skill.

As the referee announced the start, the Star-Eye Clan side moved first. They... started throwing things.

From the stands, there was first a murmur of surprise, then an uproar.

What the Star-Eye Clan threw were... Formation Plates!

The Su Raceʼs Formation Plates!

As these Formation Plates were thrown to the ground, their people immediately began occupying the formation eye positions of the plates. Two thousand people formed four sub-formations, not far from one another, mutually supporting one another.

”I think Iʼm starting to favor the Star-Eye Clan! Their preparations are truly thorough.” One being voiced the current thoughts of other races.

Formation Plates werenʼt exactly a rare item; they were one of the few support combat tools the Su Race sold to outsiders.

However, just like the Taros Red Dwarves, the Su Race rarely sold large Formation Plates, meaning those exceeding five hundred people. What was available on the market were basically small Formation Plates for dozens to a hundred people.

Moreover, not many people used Formation Plates, because when using them, one had to strictly adhere to the formation, concentrated in a fixed area. This meant tying oneʼs own hands and feet, useful only during defense, not much use at other times.

Also, Formation Plates couldnʼt be used for free; they required energy, basically driven by Moonspan Gold. That meant, buying the Formation Plate cost Moonspan Gold, and then another sum had to be spent to use it. Furthermore, Formation Plates were one time use; some couldnʼt even last a single complete battle, so their cost-performance was very low.

No one had expected the Star-Eye Clan to use Formation Plates, and even to have obtained large ones.

However, amid their surprise, the spectators thought of one problem: Formation Plates were basically defensive in nature. Even if they had offensive capabilities, they were concentrated within the formation.

If the Huaitang Clan didnʼt attack them? Then what would the Star-Eye Clan do? Maintaining the Formation Plates required a huge amount of Moonspan Gold!
