Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2088: Understood

Recently, business in various shops in Darkstrip City had been surprisingly good.

Not only the liveliest restaurants and bars, but almost all industries saw varying degrees of revenue increase.

All of this naturally had to do with the Brave Trial scheduled to begin in just one day.

Choosing real combat over holographic virtual battlefields, with a fight to the death, was undoubtedly a very interesting event for the Cosmic Races, which currently had no large-scale battles.

As a result, Darkstrip City, a small city with no tourist resources or core resources, suddenly gained attention from many surrounding cities.

Many idle life forms came over one after another, intending to witness this attention-grabbing battle firsthand.

Each side had two thousand people, a total of four thousand—the scale wasnʼt large, but once fighting started, it would likely be a thrilling, intense battle.

This battle was valued because there were many points of interest.

First, the two sides were long-standing enemies, opposed for not just one or two years. Even the Star-Eye Clanʼs decline was greatly related to the Huaitang Clan. Under such circumstances, encountering each other naturally sparked conflict.

Second, the Huaitang Clan was currently in a mess. The grain robbery incident was widely discussed throughout Darkstrip City, and numerous theories circulated that greatly damaged its reputation. Now, many people were watching the Huaitang Clan, seeing how theyʼd find this hidden opponent, how theyʼd solve this issue.
It must be said that the successive grain robberies already seriously affected the Huaitang Clanʼs prestige. Most obviously, if it were earlier, even if other Eight Headsʼ high-ranking officials had taken substantial sums from the Star-Eye Clan, they would not have allowed them to provoke the Huaitang Clan, as it concerned the dignity of Darkstrip Cityʼs entire upper echelon.

But now, the Huaitang Clan had provoked a powerful opponent; even their small fleet was destroyed. The future direction was uncertain. Many felt the Huaitang Clan was strong on the outside but weak inside. Using the Star-Eye Clan to probe them now was very suitable. So, with multiple partiesʼ indulgence, this contest with the Star-Eye Clan emerged.

Even though Darkstrip City was just an inconspicuous city among thousands on this survivor fortress, and the Eight Heads were only medium-sized clans, they were still part of the Cosmic Ten Thousand Races. Everyone was no fool. In all their actions, they prioritized their clan. Theyʼd never act according to the Star-Eye Clanʼs demands just because they gave money. If they did, it only meant it also served their interests.

Lastly, the Star-Eye Clan was recently somewhat ʼhot.ʼ

Initially, people knew about this clan because of the love story between White Robe and the Sheke Star Princess Yisewei; it was still happening even now.

Then, a person named Ye Zhongming emerged suddenly, achieving Novice First with record-breaking points in almost the most difficult novice battlefield, bringing huge profits to himself and the Star-Eye Clan.

Many wanted to see how such a clan with a rising revival trend would face its long-standing enemyʼs challenge.

Of course, many also wondered why the Star-Eye Clan jumped out now.

All these answers would be reflected in this battle.

Compared to the Huaitang Clanʼs whole clan united against a common enemy, almost all clan members shouting everywhere in Darkstrip City about teaching the Star-Eye Clan a lesson, making them extinct, etc., the Star-Eye Clan was the opposite. After their previous provocative high-profile stance, the entire clan retreated into the underground fortress complex, as if it had nothing to do with them.

However, without permission, outsiders couldnʼt enter the Star-Eye Clanʼs interior. So people could only drink, speculate, and discuss.

……………………

At present, the two clans in different states have convened their senior members to discuss the upcoming match. The difference was that one side was tense, the other relaxed.

”Are the personnel selected and ready?” the Huaitang Clan leader asked the person sitting below him on one side—the Huaitang Clanʼs military commander, responsible for wartime planning and command.

”Clan Leader, all ready. Two thousand warriors, all from the Glorious Brilliance Regiment. Average Furelai exceeds fifty thousand. Among them, the two spearheads, Sibille and Lola, have Furelai over seventy thousand. Even if the Star-Eye Clanʼs two clan leaders personally enter the field, they absolutely cannot defeat them.”

The military commanderʼs voice echoed in the meeting room, full of vigor, showing his extreme confidence.

The clan leaderʼs expression eased slightly.

At this stage, the effects of the food shortage began to become apparent. The entire Huaitang Clan began to lack food. Even after using reserve grain, it was already stretched thin and couldnʼt last many more days.

Reluctantly, the Huaitang Clan had to send grain transport teams again to other cities to purchase grain, also buying other edible foods for the clan within Darkstrip City.

But Blue Millet was ultimately the staple food, indispensable for the Huaitang Clan. Shortage for a while was possible, but too long definitely not.

To prevent grain robbery from happening again, this transport mission sent heavy troop escorts. The Huaitang Clan adopted a strategy of using only four teams, openly setting off and transporting, letting everyone know, and focusing on the transport teams. Each team had more than 2,000 escort warriors.

They didnʼt believe those mysterious people would dare appear again.

As for the two thousand warriors sent for the Brave Trial, they were all from the Huaitang Clanʼs strongest combat team, the ʼGlorious Brillianceʼ Regiment. The leaders were the two strongest of the middle generation, Sibille and Lola, with Furelai over seventy thousand, second only to the clan leader and a few others in the clan.
