Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2080: Technology from above (2)

The battle known as the Mei City Attack lasted for eight days, ending with the victory of the Cloud Peak system.

However, regarding the results, Xia Lei and Cloud Peakʼs top officials were very dissatisfied.

Previously, Cloud Peak had gathered over a dozen top-tier life forms and the majority of Cloud Peakʼs warriors here, deploying many of Cloud Peakʼs top-tier technological products, including magic crystal cannons, all for the purpose of achieving a complete victory.

Unfortunately, not only were they ambushed, but serious problems were also exposed during the later pursuit, and even the biggest target escaped.

Look at Cloud Peakʼs losses this time.

First, talk about consumption.

Over forty thousand pieces of magic crystal weaponry were damaged in total, with over five hundred magic crystal cannons destroyed. These were losses caused when the parasites attacked the positions during the surprise attack. Among them, over one hundred and fifty Annihilation-type magic crystal cannons were lost, which made Xia Lei very heartbroken.

Besides these, other equipment, such as mechanical combat vehicles, war fortresses, and Exquisite Floating Balls, was also lost over a hundred units. These items might not seem like many, but each one required a significant amount of manufacturing time and used many precious materials. It was unknown how long it would take to replenish them.

As for the remaining magic crystal weapons and mechanical equipment, those partially damaged but repairable numbered even more.

As the saying goes, when cannons roar, gold is spent by the ton. Throughout the entire battle, the consumption of magic crystals as energy was also enormous. Just level-six magic crystals consumed nearly twenty thousand! Level five and below werenʼt even worth mentioning.
These specifically refer to the consumption of magic crystal firearms and cannons, not to other items manufactured with magic crystals as energy sources, such as micro-engraved bullets. If those were included, the quantity of magic crystals consumed would be staggering.

Aside from those related to magic crystals, various weapons and equipment were truly the major part.

Cloud Peak and other combat teamsʼ warriors totaled over three million. After one battle, unrecoverable weapons and equipment numbered a full five million pieces! Of course, this included some disposable equipment, but this quantity was still alarming. Since Cloud Peak asked others to help, it had to bear these losses. Combined with the losses of its own teams, basically, one battle emptied Cloud Peakʼs equipment warehouse.

Now, with Ye Zhongming not here, it wouldnʼt be easy to obtain so much equipment again.

Besides weapons and equipment, there were consumables, such as grenade launchers and rocket shells, which were basically all used up; various elemental gems, also consumed quite a few; various potions, probably a million bottles were consumed.

It could be said that, fortunately, Cloud Peak had a large family and business to withstand such a large-scale battle; any other force would have been impoverished long ago. However, in the end, this battle consumed the profits from occupying most of the countryʼs territory during this phase.

The rest were the losses of the Gene Warrior Army, Cloud Peak Air Force, and Warbeast Army.

The Gene Warrior Army joined the battle later, after Xia Lei was trapped. Originally, there were over 200,000. After entering the battle, because they were almost unaffected by emotions, their combat power was very stable. When many combat teams were in chaos due to Xia Leiʼs uncertain fate, the Gene Warrior Army performed the best, resulting in not too many losses. Including those that self-destructed, basically, only over thirty thousand were killed, and over twenty thousand needed to be re-cultivated.

Compared to the Gene Warrior Army, the losses of Cloud Peakʼs Air Force and Warbeast Army were somewhat heavier.

During the process of rescuing Xia Lei, both corps were the main forces charging, almost regardless of casualties, so the casualty numbers were frightening.

Within a short time, the air force suffered over fifty thousand casualties, and the Warbeast Army approached one hundred thousand.

These lives were different from weapons and equipment. Replenishing these losses would be a long process.

Finally, there were warrior casualties.

Due to unscientific and blind pursuit, even though the battle was victorious, a large number of losses still occurred during this process. According to statistics, the casualty rate among non-Cloud Peak system warriors exceeded 30%. That is to say, after one battle, there were nearly eight hundred thousand external warrior casualties, with over five hundred thousand killed in action. The remaining three hundred thousand were basically those whose injuries were too severe to recover from, becoming disabled. Those who could recover full combat power, even if severely injured, were not counted in these statistics.

Of course, there were also Cloud Peakʼs own losses.

Xia Leiʼs combat team was completely annihilated. Little Tigerʼs cavalry team suffered twenty percent casualties. And other various combat teams also suffered heavy losses in this battle.

In this battle, Cloud Peakʼs excellent warriors had over one hundred twenty-one thousand killed in action, and over thirty-five thousand disabled beyond recovery.

It could be said that this was the most severe loss Cloud Peak had suffered since its establishment.

It was the first time that a main combat team as a unit was completely annihilated.

From the process perspective, Cloud Peak might have done well enough, not letting the other side succeed during the surprise attack. But from the result perspective, this was unacceptable to Cloud Peakʼs core members.

Over a hundred thousand casualties! Thinking of those bodies scattered everywhere, the Cloud Peak people, who had never suffered any setbacks, werenʼt happy about the final victory. Some even felt this was a failure, a complete failure.

This way of thinking actually wasnʼt without reason.

If the enemy were other targets—human evolved beings or mutated life forms—after paying such a high price, they would certainly have gained more benefits.

But what did they gain this time? Six million parasites, with less than one million escaping in the end, and five million killed.

If they were all mutated life forms, that would absolutely be a huge fortune. Five million magic crystals and countless various materials. After all, this included over a dozen top-tier life forms and even more level-eight life forms. Not to mention anything else, increasing Cloud Peak by one main combat team of average strength would be no problem. After replenishing the lost warriors, weapons, and equipment, there would definitely be a considerable surplus.

But unfortunately, parasites didnʼt have magic crystals, and their corpses couldnʼt be decomposed into materials because Ye Zhongming needed them. In other words, temporarily, it seemed Cloud Peak gained nothing.

”Over four million corpses can be taken away, but transporting them back will also take quite some time, probably about five days or so.”

Guangyao looked at the mountainous piles of parasite bodies outside and said.

Xia Lei nodded. ”I know everyoneʼs combat teams suffered heavy losses this time. I am responsible for this.”

Seeing that everyone wanted to persuade her, Xia Lei smiled and waved her hand to stop them. ”No matter how many reasons there are, they canʼt change the established facts. So, this time, my responsibility is the greatest.”

”After returning to the villa, everyone can select warriors from the combat teams that participated in this battle to replenish their teams. The selection process must be careful. Look at the person first, then at their strength. If the person is good, our Cloud Peak has many ways to make them stronger.”

Everyone nodded.

”Alright then, letʼs return to the mountain villa. Everyone should properly reorganize and also see what news Zhongming has sent this time.”
