Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2090: Brave Trial

They couldnʼt help but laugh; it was truly because the current Star-Eye Clan participating warriors were dressed too shabbily.

As many as two thousand warriors, most of them wearing common-grade equipment.

Although the Star-Eye Clan was a small clan and Dark Strip City was also a small city, and not everyone was wealthy, as the top members of a race, all having common-grade equipment was just too unreasonable.

Moreover, many people observed that these individualsʼ common-grade equipment was covered with various traces; the materialʼs color was uneven, indicating that it had been used for a very long time.

Was this to participate in the Brave Trial? This was just going through the motions, right? Once both sides entered, they couldnʼt leave again; the ones who could finally walk out would necessarily be the victors. So what was the Star-Eye Clan doing? Treating life as a joke?

If it werenʼt for several Huaitang Clan members recognizing the Star-Eye Clan Chief Guard members they knew, they would have thought these people were just there to make up the numbers.

The referee invited by the major clan was a top expert, with Furelai exceeding 100,000. Seeing these Star-Eye Clan people, he couldnʼt help but frown.

If even a life-and-death battle like this wasnʼt taken seriously, then this Star-Eye Clan truly deserved annihilation.

”Star-Eye Clan, are you sure you want to participate in the competition like this?”

Adhering to the rules, the referee still went over to ask.
”Could you wait a little longer?” A Star-Eye Clan warrior came out and made a request.

”Reason!” the referee said, his face slightly stern.

”Our personnel have not yet all arrived.”

This referee was slightly surprised. Earlier, he had only taken a rough look and, thinking the numbers were about right, stopped paying close attention, assuming the Star-Eye Clan wouldnʼt be short of people, otherwise theyʼd be too foolish. Now hearing them say their people hadnʼt all arrived, he quickly counted.

With his strength and focused attention, he ascertained the number within a few breaths.

Sure enough, four people were missing.

In such an important competition, there were still people who hadnʼt arrived. Was this a provocation against the rules? Or a sign of disrespect towards him, the referee?

Major clans inherently looked down upon minor clans, and now, because of four missing people nearly causing the referee to make a mistake, it would be strange if he showed any goodwill towards the Star-Eye Clan.

”If this is the case, I will have to rule you as losing,” the referee warned the Star-Eye Clan very unpleasantly.

”Referee, itʼs not yet time,” a Star-Eye Clan member carefully reminded the referee.

There was still a little while left until the stipulated start time for both sides.

The referee was genuinely a bit angry and said furiously, ”Fine, even if thereʼs still a moment left, when the time comes, if your people still havenʼt appeared, you wonʼt need to fight.”

Having said that, he walked directly to one side and stood there, no longer paying attention to the Star-Eye Clan, clearly prepared to rule the Star-Eye Clanʼs defeat immediately when the time arrived.

In the arenaʼs stands, it was now packed with beings from various races. Seeing what was happening on the field, they laughed mockingly, their incomprehension palpable.

A life-or-death battle, and yet people hadnʼt arrived. Could it be any more of a farce?

Fortunately, soon four people walked out of the entrance passage.

”Apologies, sir. I am Star, the lord of the Star-Eye Clan. We were late because we were preparing for this battle.”

Star Lord apologized very politely to the referee. One doesnʼt strike a smiling face; the referee hummed in acknowledgment, his expression somewhat easing.

”There is still some time before the start. Please allow me to distribute equipment to my men.”

Star Lord spoke again.

The referee was slightly startled upon hearing this. Distributing equipment only now? What had they been doing before? But thinking that this battle involved the Star-Eye Clanʼs very survival, perhaps they had needed to borrow equipment or something, which was understandable.

So he nodded, telling them to handle it quickly.

After thanking him, Star Lord immediately gathered the two thousand participating warriors and began distributing equipment.

”First Team, Number 1.”

Following Star Lord’s words, a Star-Eye Clan Chiefʼs Guard warrior immediately stepped forward.

”According to your characteristics, your attack power is concentrated in your right fist. One Red Condensation-grade gauntlet, one Red Condensation-grade armor piece, the rest Ke Steel Grade.”

Immediately, several pieces of equipment were handed from Cheng Liujinʼs spatial gear to the First Teamʼs Number 1 warrior.

”First Team, Number 2.”

”Left-hand sword, arm shield, Red Condensation-grade, the rest Ke Steel Grade.”

…………

…………

On the other side, Eye Lord and Bashilu were similarly distributing equipment in this manner. Team leader-level personnel each received two Red Condensation-grade items, the rest each received one Red Condensation-grade item, and the remainder were all Ke Steel Grade.

Although full sets of equipment were being distributed to everyone, because the records were in order, the distribution proceeded quickly. People continuously came forward to receive equipment, then retreated to the back to put it on. The discarded equipment was piled to one side, and soon a small mountain of equipment gradually took shape.

Thus, in the packed arena, two hundred thousand beings from the cosmic races witnessed a complete and... peculiar process of changing equipment.

”Theyʼre changing equipment?”

”Yes, but why werenʼt they prepared beforehand? Why change here?”

”You wouldnʼt know this. Iʼm from Dark Strip City myself. Let me tell you, the Star-Eye Clan was on the verge of extinction before. Later, because a newcomer named Ye Zhongming arrived—you should know, he got first place among Novices, and reportedly with help from the Changxu Water Race—the Star-Eye Clan managed a bit of development. What you saw earlier, all dressed in tattered gear, thatʼs their normal state. These equipment now, they probably borrowed from some other race, and probably had to put up something as collateral.”

”If you ask me, no one would lend them equipment. They probably gritted their teeth and sold off some family heirlooms to get these. After all, if they lose today, they wonʼt have another chance.”

”I donʼt think so. I actually feel this equipment was given to them for free. As for why... Have you forgotten the recent situation of the Huaitang Clan? Thereʼs a major clan targeting them. Their three grain transport teams sent out were ambushed again this morning—six or seven thousand warriors, all annihilated, and no trace found. Add to that the earlier attack on the fleet. You tell me, how many people would that take? Or what kind of strength would be needed to do this? Such a definitely powerful race wouldnʼt they possibly provide some equipment for free to the Star-Eye Clan to make up for the strength gap between them and the Huaitang Clan? Even if the Star-Eye Clan canʼt win, they could still inflict losses on part of the Huaitang Clanʼs core strength. If this raceʼs goal is indeed to destroy the Huaitang Clan, then this approach, however you look at it, is cost-effective.”

After hearing this, everyone agreed with the last personʼs analysis. However, soon they no longer believed it.

”Five hundred, six hundred... my god, over one thousand two hundred Red Condensation-grade equipment pieces, the rest all Ke Steel Grade. Hey, that last speaker, which race has such deep pockets? Give me one!”

The person who had just analyzed so logically was also slightly embarrassed. He really couldnʼt explain why so much high-grade equipment had appeared. Even if the Star-Eye Clan had some stockpile, they couldnʼt possibly have this many pieces. This quantity of Red Condensation-grade equipment, no one in Dark Strip City could produce.

Not just the spectators, even the referee from the major clan was amazed.

This quantity of Red Condensation-grade, his clan did have it, even more, and quite a bit more. But that was accumulated over who knows how many years, usually stored in warehouses with people carefully looking after them, and only distributed to warriors when battles occurred.
