Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2085: Series of blows

A large group of Huaitang Clan members personally went to the farmland not far outside Darkstrip City.

It wasnʼt that they couldnʼt see clearly on the light screen, but they felt they could only believe it by seeing it with their own eyes.

Now, the general environment of the Cosmic Races wasnʼt lacking in food. After all, there was still plenty of land; each race had a certain amount of arable land to cultivate the grain crops they needed.

The Huaitang Clan, as one of the Eight Heads of Darkstrip City, naturally also had large areas of arable land, which was a good place for clan members without much cultivation talent.

When the group of high-ranking officials arrived at the grain fields, what they saw was a mess.

”Who did this?!” The clan leaderʼs voice was low, containing suppressed anger. He didnʼt shout loudly, just coldly stared at the person in charge here, wishing he could slap him to death.

”I, I...” That person in charge was so scared he couldnʼt speak.

This wasnʼt his fault either. His strength wasnʼt great to begin with, far from the clan leaderʼs. A high-level expert glaring angrily at him would make anyone uneasy. At the same time, he also knew the clanʼs current situation: Blue Millet was bought out; the entire clan was waiting for the harvest here to save the day. Who would have thought someone would destroy the fields all at once? This meant the clan might face a food shortage. The responsibility was too great, too great for him to bear.

Thinking of the punishment he would receive, even death, this person couldnʼt hold back anymore. He fell to his knees with a thud, tears streaming.

”Useless thing.”
The Huaitang Clan leader waved his hand, and this person was flung far away, lying on the ground convulsing continuously, not knowing if he could survive.

”Is there any sky control footage?” the clan leader asked.

”It was destroyed,” the deputy of the previous person in charge answered. Although his speech remained fluent, he was now sweating profusely.

”Tell us what you know.”

”Yes.” This deputy began recounting the events.

”I was on duty today. The handover was supposed to be at six, but at four, the Grain Manager suddenly contacted me, saying something was wrong and asking me to bring people over. When I arrived with people at four forty, the grain fields to the east, south, and west had already been damaged, using different methods. The area closest to our camp used Inner Withering Technique. The east side was sprinkled with Holeless Worms. The west side used Earth Refining Fire.”

The Huaitang Clan leader and others arrived at the location near the grain field management camp. Before them were large areas of withered Blue Millet plants. They knew some spell must cause it, but they didnʼt expect it to be Inner Withering Technique.

”Inner Withering Technique?” The clan leaderʼs body moved forward, landing dozens of meters away in the grain fields. He casually picked up a palm-sized, long-oval fruit and scratched it open with his nail. Inside should have been grains of Blue Millet, but now it was all ashes.

”*&…%￥…#” The Huaitang Clan leader swore angrily.

Inner Withering Technique wasnʼt some ordinary ability; it could be said to be a power that terrified the Cosmic Races.

Once this ability hit someone, a force would enter their body, continuously corroding and burning internal organs. If the gap between the two parties wasnʼt too huge, this force wouldnʼt directly kill, but instead subject the target to immense torture. Without some special medicines or special racial abilities to remove it, this torture would accompany the target for life. When the power within the body could no longer resist this ability, the person would wither and die, leaving only skin, with all internal organs and tissues burned to ashes.

This was an extremely rare plant-type ability. Only a few races among the Cosmic Races could master it, for example, the Gurui Royal Clan.

Such a precious, powerful, and terrifying ability was actually used on a grain crop. This was something only someone with a sick mind would do.

Such a large area of grain fields—how much mental energy must have been consumed? Which idiot did this?

The Huaitang Clan leader immediately proceeded to the large grain fields in the other two directions. The grain in the east looked intact, but the fruits had small holes, all filled with Holeless Worms, each plump and strong.

No wonder they were like this; overnight, eating so much food, how could they not get fat?

Although they got fat, they ate up the Huaitang Clanʼs rations.

Moving continuously, the fruits in this area were all filled with worms; the next area, too. Rough estimates indicated that less than 5% of the fruit remained intact.

The Huaitang Clan leader finally couldnʼt hold back. He roared and launched an attack toward this area. Large swathes of grain fields were overturned, leaving a long, huge trench.

There was no need to even look at the west side. Someone used the fire-type ability Earth Refining Fire to directly incinerate the plants. Unlike Inner Withering Technique, which few could master, the number of people who could use this ability was a dime a dozen. However, common abilities obviously werenʼt high-tier; it just consumed more energy.

But to instantly burn all plants in such a large area, at least several hundred people who could use this ability were needed.

Again, the same question: whose head was pinched by a magic metal door to make several hundred people do such a thing together?

”As for the north...” the deputy hesitated, then said, ”When we arrived, the north grain fields were originally fine. However, after we investigated the other directions and returned, we found that all the plants were flattened. All the Blue Millet was crushed, mixed with the husks. You, you know, the husks taste extremely bitter and have slight toxicity. Even if carefully picked out, crushed Blue Millet cannot be eaten.”

After venting earlier, the Huaitang Clan leader calmed down a lot. Hearing this, he asked, ”How long did it take from when you discovered to when you returned?”

”At most ten minutes!”

In just ten minutes, such a large area of land was completely flattened. Moreover, there were no traces of appearance, destruction, or departure. What caused this?

The Huaitang Clan leader thought for a moment, gradually calming himself down.

”Cutting off our food? Going to such great lengths just for this?” Although he still couldnʼt understand now, the clan leader immediately made a decision.

If it were the old Huaitang Clan, he would play along with these sneaky bastards. However, the Huaitang Clanʼs situation was precarious; they couldnʼt afford any mishaps. So the clan leader decided not to let things worsen further.

”Our transport team set out immediately to purchase Blue Millet from other cities. Have our fleet ready at any time; when necessary, go to other survivor fortresses to buy a batch for emergencies.”

”Clean up these grain fields, quickly replant seeds. Then dispatch two teams here for strict protection; there must be no more problems.”

”Spread our people out to investigate; we must find out who is targeting us!”

……………………

The Rossfirth Artificial Swamp.

If you ignored the material, a survivor fortress was essentially a planet with various environments and conditions suitable for life.

Everything here could be prefixed with ʼartificial,ʼ but in reality, from any perspective, it was identical to naturally formed landscapes and scenery.

The Rossfirth Artificial Swamp was naturally similar to this as well. This swamp, large enough for a big city, was always shrouded in faint mist, silently providing ample moisture to the surroundings, willingly filtering harmful gases produced by the life forms of nearby Ledun City.
