Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2081: Purple equipment

Cloud Peak Mountain Villa had already received the news of victory, and the previous tense atmosphere disappeared.

However, a sorrowful atmosphere spread throughout the entire mountain villa.

This extermination campaign against the parasites had claimed too many lives.

Except for Xia Lei, no one in Xia Leiʼs combat team survived. Most of them were old warriors of the mountain villa, with many family members serving Cloud Peak. This time, while not every household hung white mourning cloths, sad people could be seen everywhere.

Post-battle work began immediately. Arrangements for the sacrificed warriors, treatment for the injured warriors, distribution of compensation funds, registration and replenishment of missing equipment, and even psychological counseling, which only Cloud Peak had now, all began to proceed in full swing.

At this time, Cloud Peak Mountain Villaʼs accumulated experience in various aspects began to show.

In the post-apocalyptic world, when people died, they were simply dead. Sometimes, they couldnʼt even be buried in peace. In some more extreme combat teams, after warriors died, they would actively feed them to various mutated life forms. They said this was a manifestation of natural evolution, allowing mutated life forms to evolve faster, after which humans would hunt them to obtain higher-level magic crystals and materials.

But in Cloud Peak, sacrificed warriors were treated as in peacetime: they had graves and tombstones, allowing family members and relatives to pay respects.

Even the cemetery location was near the mountain villa, within the core area. Unless someone attacked the mountain villaʼs city walls, the resting place of the sacrificed warriors wouldnʼt be disturbed.

There was also the issue of compensation. Cloud Peakʼs compensation wasnʼt just about giving money. They would formulate detailed plans based on each warriorʼs family situation. For example, if only the elderly remained, they would be brought into the mountain villa, given evolution potions based on the situation to do what they could, and special residential areas would be established. Every Cloud Peak warrior knew that the residents were family members of warriors who sacrificed for the mountain villa. They treated people from there with great respect, even Xia Lei.
If there were spouses and children, Cloud Peak would take even better care of them, allowing them to choose their future work priorities, and their children would become key cultivation targets.

This was an important reason why rebellions rarely occurred since Cloud Peakʼs establishment.

Valuing every individual, without the indifference and cruelty seen in other combat teams outside during the post-apocalyptic period, was the foundation for making every warrior willing to fight to the death.

Others didnʼt want to learn; they couldnʼt. They didnʼt have Cloud Peakʼs solid foundation because achieving this wasnʼt just talk; it required large quantities of evolution potions.

Afterwards, there was the replenishment of each combat teamʼs losses. Selecting from the external warriors who participated in the battle was also a very complicated task. Fortunately, Cloud Peak had a mature set of standards; it just needed some time.

At the same time, Cloud Peakʼs commerce and logistics departments were fully mobilized. They needed to purchase and allocate various materials and supplies to make up for the losses of machinery and equipment from the Mei City battle.

Preliminary estimates suggested that handling these matters and basically restoring Cloud Peak to its pre-Mei City battle state, not counting warbeast cultivation, would take at least half a year.

This was still based on the premise that they would definitely gain huge profits after occupying most of the countryʼs territory.

”But we still have to face another battle.”

The day after all Cloud Peak combat teams returned to the mountain villa, all core members held a meeting in Ye Zhongmingʼs villa.

Guangyao pointed at the map, his brows tightly furrowed.

”During the days we were in Mei City, these sea creaturesʼ occupied area expanded again. Because we already had combat teams nearby to contain them, it did have some effect. But since the main force wasnʼt there, we didnʼt dare to engage in large-scale conflict with them. So once they attacked, we could only retreat. But we have much more intelligence about them now than before.”

Xia Lei sat to the side. The upcoming battle, named by everyone as the ʼCoastal Campaign,ʼ would be commanded by Guangyao. The Cloud Peak Queen would stay in the mountain villa to oversee Cloud Peakʼs recovery and development.

Exterminating these sea creatures certainly couldnʼt be completed in a short time. After all, they currently occupied a large area with a long coastline. Driving them all back into the sea wasnʼt something that could be done overnight.

”Currently, we have about five hundred thousand troops on the front line. Among them, the newly formed ten main combat teams have one hundred thousand people. The remaining 400,000 are from Bai Feng, Sha Sha, Zhao Xingmeiʼs team, etc. Although their numbers are not small, each exceeding one hundred thousand, their combat power isnʼt uniform.”

Hearing Guangyao say this, someone suggested that with so many people, picking a location to fight a local battle shouldnʼt be a problem.

This time, it was Xia Lei who answered. She shook her head and said, ”The newly formed ten teams have been established for too short a time. Although their equipment and logistics are the same as the main combat teams, their coordination is still unfamiliar, and they lack experience. The commanders are also leading complete combat teams in battle for the first time; they need time to adapt. At this stage, the best way is to let them continuously hone their teams through small-scale battles. Once they mature a bit, then appropriately increase member numbers to enhance combat power. I donʼt want anything to happen to them during their initial formation. Even if the losses arenʼt large, it would still be a blow to their confidence.”

”As for Bai Feng and the othersʼ teams...” Xia Lei hesitated, then said, ”Over the years, weʼve given them certain support, and theyʼve also given us a lot in return. With our main forces not yet arrived, itʼs already very good that they can contain these sea creatures. Honestly, I feel somewhat uneasy asking them to launch small-scale campaigns. It could also generate many unnecessary thoughts within their teams.”

”At this juncture, when weʼve just occupied most of the countryʼs territory and need time to digest it, we should act cautiously.”

Everyone understood upon hearing this: now was a critical period; Cloud Peak had just suffered heavy losses in Mei City and needed to stabilize.

”However, we canʼt relax vigilance over there either. Before our main forces go there to fight, we still canʼt let these sea creatures run amok. So...”

Guangyao stood before the map, pointing with a slender metal rod.

”This time, the main combat teams that suffered relatively fewer losses—the Five Ring Money team, the Cannibal Chain team, Chuyinʼs team, Sister Rongʼs team, Mo Yeʼs team, and my team—will complete replenishment and rest within three days, then head to the front line, keeping the front-line troop strength at about 1.2 million.”
