As A Maid, I Can Fix Her!

Chapter 38: Chapter 37 - Duchess Title Is Not Joke

The view in front of me, changed drastically.

What once contained wooden shelves filled with high-quality books library is now an open space filled with dry, hot sunlight. It’s located not far from Duke Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s Mansion, which is across from the Library room.

The reason I was here was to witness a Duchess who wanted to duel with her daughter.

It’s a bit strange, but that’s what’s happening right now.

A mother who challenges her daughter to a duel, just because her daughter wants to take the Duchess property of an ”innocent” maid who doesn’t know anything.

In other words, this was an honorable duel over Liliana’s ownership.

”Ugh, why did it turn out like this?” I asked the Head Maid standing next to me.

”I don’t know either, Liliana. It just happened...”

”Don’t lie to me, Head Maid. No matter how I look at it, this is really weird!” I grumbled to the Head Maid, who was still pretending to be clueless, not understanding what was happening before her eyes.

”Liliana... can you see my face? Does it look like I’m lying to you? Just like you... I don’t know what the Duchess is thinking either!” the Head Maid replied in a high-pitched grumbling voice.

Besides me, which being stressed by this uncertain situation, the Head Maid seemed to be experiencing the same thing as I was.

Unable to refuse the decision of Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld and Master Reina, who wanted to do an honorable duel, we were dragged into this noble family conflict.

”It doesn’t look like you’re lying...” I replied, admitting that the Head Maid’s expression wasn’t lying.

”My mistress will always do unexpected, and troublesome things, Liliana. I don’t want to scare you in the future if my troublesome mistress’s attitude is passed down to Master Reina. After all, they share the same blood in their veins.”

”D-Don’t scare me with such scary things like that, Head Maid!”

My body shivered in fear when the Head Maid said that, my brain immediately played back some terrifying incident in the future... where Master Reina would do a crazy act that was more brutal than the normal Villainess girl’s when bullying the Main Heroines.

”Yikes, what else can we do, Liliana? There’s someone saying... the children blood doesn’t flow far from the mother flesh.”

”Did you mean... The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, Head Maid?”

”Hmm? Which someone is saying that phrase from?”

”I don’t know, I was just talking nonsense earlier...”

As the Head Maid and I were joking about proverb from my old world, the corner of my eye suddenly caught sight of the Duchess and Master Reina entering the open space. Master Reina was wearing leather armor, while Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld was looking down her daughter by wearing the white dress she wore, when she welcoming Marchioness Shinano VII Lichtberg.

”...” I was silent for a moment when I saw Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld, who came without wearing leather armor for protection.

A clean white dress...

With her back was exposed and unprotected from the hot sting of the sun...

Also, her shoulders were not protected by some shoulder armor...

”Head Maid, it seems... the title of Rose Sword Goddess held by Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld is not an ordinary title, is it?”

”I’ve heard Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld rumors before...”

”But I still can’t believe it, Head Maid.”

I don’t mean to belittle the title that Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld has earned. But, with such light preparations for an honorable duel, somehow I feel uneasy about Master Reina’s imminent defeat.

”Yes, it is indeed a special title that my mistress obtained after winning streak a duel between nobles. My mistress swordsmanship skills are a little difficult to explain in words,” replied the Head Maid with a complicated expression.

”Seeing Master Reina like that, now I understand that children blood doesn’t flow far from the mother flesh,” I replied, using the proverb said by the Head Maid.

”You’ll see more, Liliana.”

The Head Maid’s words...

It has caught my attention, not wanting to miss this honorable duel...

Without taking my eyes off Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld and Master Reina, I prepared to be an important witness to this honorable duel together with the Head Maid.

For some reason, the scorching sun and reason for not wanting to feel the sensation of burning skin, made Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg and Young Lady Amagi were observing from inside the Main Mansion of Duke Adelheid Von Blutfeld.

Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld took the wooden sword provided and wielded it like a toy. She swung the wooden sword forward like playing home run, and creating a powerful wind slash that reverberated through the air.

Swoonngg!!

Swooonngg!!

”Uhh...” I could only mumble at this.

Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld position and I were quite a distance away, but the powerful impact of the wooden sword’s swing was clear and loud. Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s posture also resembled that of a professional swordswoman.

”Why does Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld suddenly look so serious?”

”I don’t know... Maybe my mistress is enjoying this honorable duel too much.”

On the other hand, I saw Master Reina, who was having trouble choosing a wooden sword that was suitable for her body size.

This honorable noble duel...

Without even seeing it begins, I could already see Master Reina’s humiliating defeat.

Master Reina chose a wooden sword as long as her body, not too heavy, and not too light that it would slip out of her grasp.

Swiinngg!!

Swwiinngg!!

In contrast to Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s powerful and heavy-sounding swing of her wooden sword, Master Reina’s swing of her wooden sword sounded frail.

”Uwwaahhh... it’s over, Head maid,” I said in a weak tone and saw the predicted end of this honorable duel.

Tap...

Tap...

Tap...

After the preparations for the honorable duel between nobles were deemed sufficient, Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld and Master Reina immediately positioned themselves in the middle of the dry field.

Without caring about the heat of the sun burning their skin, they faced each other and pointed the tips of their wooden swords in a offensive stance, ready to attack.

”Almost started,” said the Head Maid as she felt her pocket to pull out something.

A small silver bell was visible in the Head Maid’s hand, her finger tucked into the middle of the bell to hold it ring it.

”Want to try ringing this bell, Liliana?” the Head Maid asked, smiling at me.

I knew the Head Maid’s smile meant something. It was a smile that was teasing me to take responsibility for the honorable duel before my eyes.

The tease almost made me lose my composure and move my hand, but my strong awareness of the terrible responsibility held my hand back.

”No, thank you very much for this honorable offer, but I will decline!” I replied while folding my arms over my chest.

”Just ringing a bell. It’s not that hard.”

”I knew there was something behind it. I won’t fall for this cheap trap, Head Maid.”

The Head Maid smiled wryly at me and tossed the silver bell into the air. The slight jingle of the bell, triggered the start of an honorable duel before my eyes.

Tiinngg!!

Tiinngg!!

Tiinngg!!

With three rings of silver bells that resounded through the air, Master Reina immediately rushed towards Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld, who had already prepared to receive the attack. Their harmless wooden swords nearly collided, but Master Reina quickly pulled her body back.

Blaaarrrr!!

Right in front of Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld, the plain, dry ground was split in two by a swing of Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s wooden sword.

”H-Heeeee? H-How?!!” I couldn’t contain my surprise after seeing the terrifying swing of the wooden sword.

”M-My eyes are fine, right?”

”I don’t see this as a nightmare, do I?”

Rather than calling this an honorable duel...

It’s more like rigorous training to stay alive from sudden death...
