As A Maid, I Can Fix Her!

Chapter 37: Chapter 36 - Honorable Duel

Claapp...

Claapp...

”Then... let’s practice swordsmanship to calm this atmosphere, which is heated by the fire of jealousy.”

The Duchess clapped her hands and made a decision I couldn’t refuse.

After going through a difficult situation and being filled with heavy social pressure, I was suddenly dragged into another problem created by the Duchess herself.

My face could only smile stiffly, and my head lowered, unable to fight back against a Duchess who had saved my life from a life-and-death situation.

I had promised myself to convey my gratitude to the person who had saved me from Master Reina and Master Amagi’s fight.

And that person was Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld, who came with the Head Maid who betrayed me from behind, and Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg.

Without the presence of the three of them, I would certainly not have survived Master Reina’s possessive prison and Master Amagi’s obsessive confinement.

I don’t know what happened, but it seems like Master Amagi is interested in me.

I don’t know the cause, and it just happened, even though my intention was only to accompany Master Amagi to read magic books in Duke Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s Library.

My status as an apprentice maid remained unchanged, and Liliana’s memories, still in her head, weren’t particularly special. She was simply a maid who was frequently the target of Master Reina’s bullying, unable to fight back, and simply resigned herself to get used it.

However, that routine changed after I took over Liliana’s body.

If Master Reina, who has such a rude attitude, can be fought back against, then there is a possibility that I can fight back and refuse the Duchess’s orders, right?

Griittt...

My teeth clenched tightly, hidden behind a stiff smile that remained as a friendly maid.

My heart now felt a strange hesitation between wanting to thank her with obedience and satisfying my curiosity by refusing the Duchess’s orders.

”Maammaa!! Don’t throw me like you’re throwing trash anywhere!” shouted Master Reina, who looked excited on top of my body.

My position, which was currently Master Reina’s protective cushion, shifted slightly to become Master Reina’s back support.

After waking up from the dizziness that filled her head, Master Reina looked annoyed and angry with her own mother.

Well, who wouldn’t be furious after being thrown around like a kitten?

Luckily, my body’s reaction control was able to keep up with the speed to embrace Master Reina’s body, who was being thrown onto the sofa.

”Oh, you’re awake, Reina?” the Duchess replied coldly after Master Reina’s outburst.

Even with such passionate anger, the Duchess considered it a passing wind and not worth taking seriously.

As a victim who needs answers and being dragged into an unimportant problem, I am actually being ignored by this mother and her daughter.

”...” while sitting on the sofa and leaning against Master Reina’s back, I wanted to cry silently.

Caress...

Caress...

”Don’t worry, Liliana. This happens often. Even before you started working at Duke Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s residence, Master Amagi and my mistress always showed their affection with trivial arguments like this,” whispered the Head Maid, who didn’t explain anything, while stroking the back of my hair.

What kind of affection always goes with boiled arguments like this?

”I-Is this going to be okay?” I whispered back.

”This isn’t the first time this has happened. If it had escalated into a major argument, the two of them would have had an honorable duel. It’s just that...” the Head Maid suddenly fell silent after saying something that made me curious.

”...” in the silence, waiting for the Head Maid to continue her words, Master Reina suddenly pulled the collar of my maid uniform.

Srreeettt...

Srreeettt...

”How could I just stay silent if Liliana was sharing my precious time with her!” Master Reina shouted much louder than before.

My eardrums throbbed painfully, as if they were about to explode, and a small surge of anger almost shook my calm posture. I wanted to pull Master Reina’s cheeks in front of everyone, but that would ruin my good behavior as an apprentice maid.

It wouldn’t be funny if a apprentice maid got fired for pulling her own Master’s cheek, would it?

”Be careful, Liliana...”

”It seems you will be a betting target for my mistress and young miss.”

My ears, which had just been pained by Master Reina’s screams, suddenly heard a whisper from the Head Maid.

My head is now filled with all kinds of questions.

What betting target am I involved in?

Is there really a bet that can make me the ”target” to be won by this mother and her daughter?

The more I thought about the possibilities, the less a reasonable answer came to mind.

As the author who wrote the main storyline in the world of this novel, I do not include elements of gambling or betting related to humans.

I feel like I’m stuck in the wrong genre of novel, but the main setting is a story I’ve written before.

”What the hell is going on?” I muttered under my breath, trying to keep my cool, even though the situation was beyond out control.

Clapp!!

A loud clap was heard.

It came from the Duchess, who was smiling serenely, and her gentle eyes were fixed on me.

”How about we settle this in a honorable manner, Reina?” the Duchess said as she pulled off her left glove and threw it at Master Reina face.

Ploooppp...

Without avoiding, Master Reina let the Duchess’s left glove hit her face.

It was at that moment...

I just realized what the Head Maid said...

”Remember this well, Reina.”

”From the start, Liliana was my asset.”

”I only lent Liliana so she could serve you as an apprentice maid.”

”I’m not giving Liliana to you, but lending her to you.”

The Duchess spoke in a solemn tone, imbued with a terrifying, oppressive aura. The title ”Rose Sword Goddess” was no mere empty phrase to be dismissed. The oppressive aura emanating from the Duchess was no mere decoration; it even made the hairs on the nape of my neck stand on end in alarm.

This is not a small dispute between mother and daughter; this has become a bloody battle over something!

But... What’s at stake?

I didn’t hear any talk of an honorable duel with anything at stake.

I know the tradition about throwing gloves at someone is an honorable invitation to a duel for something.

Somehow, this also aligns with the Head Maid’s statement that Master Reina and Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld always have heated arguments.

Sluuush...

Master Reina’s hand, which was gripping the collar of my maid uniform, released, allowing me to breathe a sigh of relief after Master Reina pulled the collar of my maid uniform.

”Okay, Mom!!”

”I accept this honorable duel, bring it on!!” Master Reina accept her mother invitation and glanced at me.

Master Reina’s sharp red gaze felt like it was piercing my body as if Master Reina’s hidden wish would come true if she won this honorable duel.

There’s no harm in screaming in panic and running away from this problem, right?

No matter how I look at it, I’m really stuck in a never-ending mess in this noble family.

The first problem came from Master Reina and Master Amagi, who wanted to get my attention as their servant.

This one funny problem...

Where a mother has the big heart to fight her own daughter... with me as the bet?

If only I had a white flag in my hand, I would definitely wave it over my head.

I have given up to run on any problems involving me at Duke Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s residence.

And that’s how it is...

The story why I became the ”reward” of a bet for an honorable noble duel...
