Su Yan sat on the right side of Lew Qingqing and Zhou Yun, leaning in with a curious face, and asked, ”Did you know each other before?”

Lew Qingqing immediately answered, ”We met for the first time today, did you know Xiao Yun before?”

”Of course, it’s also my first time meeting him,” said Su Yan. ”But I got quite a shock this morning when I saw the trending search.”

Zhou Yun said with an innocent look, ”It’s just paparazzi making things up.”

”I remember you’re filming with Song Chi, aren’t you?” Lew Qingqing countered Su Yan. ”You should know best whether Zhou Yun is Song Chi’s girlfriend or not.”

Hearing this, Su Yan’s gaze flickered, she laughed twice, and said, ”Although I’m in the same crew filming, how could I know about such matters.”

Her words, at first glance, didn’t seem problematic, but in reality, they were still making vague statements. Lew Qingqing’s previous utterance was intended to get Su Yan to play the role of witness, clearing the gossip. But Su Yan merely skirted around the issue, leaving the implication that even if Song Chi and Zhou Yun were dating, she would be none the wiser.

Zhou Yun had no choice but to emphasize again: ”I don’t even know Teacher Song Chi.”

Lew Qingqing patted Zhou Yun’s hand and said, ”Don’t worry, nowadays fans are very smart, they won’t be led by the nose by the paparazzi, don’t worry about it.”

Zhou Yun showed a grateful smile to Lew Qingqing.

Next to them, Su Yan took out a pair of sunglasses from her bag and put them on.

Seeing this, Chen Quanying who was chatting with others asked directly, ”Su Yan, the sun has already set, why are you wearing sunglasses? Trying to be cool?”

With one sentence, Su Yan nearly gave herself away.

Zhou Yun keenly observed Su Yan’s mouth twitch.

Zhou Yun had heard that Chen Quanying was straightforward, with many rumors in the circle about her poking fun at others. Seeing it today was really... rather unique. At least, Zhou Yun had never seen someone so directly call someone out since she entered the industry.

Except maybe for cases like Lew Qingqing and Su Yan, who had conflicts already.

Su Yan took off her sunglasses, pouting, and said in a wronged tone, ”Ah, Sister Ying, I’m tired and wanted to sleep in the car.”

Even Su Yan didn’t dare to directly confront Chen Quanying.

Lew Qingqing didn’t let this opportunity slip to kick someone when they’re down, ”I’ll swap seats with you then, I’d actually like to have a chat with Sister Ying. I’ve been a fan of Sister Ying’s music since school and even went to her concert with friends.”

Su Yan’s daggers through her eyes shot over immediately.

Chen Quanying excitedly turned towards Lew Qingqing, ”You’ve been to my concert?”

”Yeah, five years ago, at the Beijing Workers’ Stadium,” said Lew Qingqing. ”Do you remember?”

”Of course I remember, I certainly remember my own concerts,” said Chen Quanying before turning to Su Yan, ”Didn’t you want to nap? Since Lew Qingqing wants to swap seats with you, hurry up and move.”

Su Yan looked a bit awkward, as if she was put on a spit over a fire.

This was being sent packing.

Su Yan couldn’t swallow her pride, but had no choice but to grit her teeth and swallow it, swapping seats with Lew Qingqing.

With the camera still filming, Zhou Yun couldn’t help but laugh, calling out, ”Sister Yanyan.”

Su Yan kept a straight face, nodded, and put her sunglasses back on, and it was unclear whether she was really asleep or not.

Only then did Zhou Yun take out her phone, slightly turning away to prevent Su Yan from seeing her phone screen, and sent a message to Zhou Lan: Did you see what happened this afternoon?

Zhou Lan: What?

Zhou Yun said: Su Yan kicked me.

Zhou Lan: What? During the game? Surely she didn’t do it on purpose?

Zhou Yun: No, she did it on purpose, because I wasn’t siding with her in shared indignation, instead, I had a friendly relationship with Lew Qingqing.

Zhou Lan: Are they really at odds?

Zhou Yun: They had a falling out while changing clothes.

Zhou Lan: For now, don’t be impulsive, finish recording the show before you deal with it, and don’t forget how you’re supposed to come across on camera.

Zhou Yun: I understand, but remember to ask someone for a backup of the footage.

Zhou Lan: Let me handle this, rest assured.

After giving clear instructions, Zhou Yun breathed a sigh of relief, only then did he turn to glance at Su Yan.

Su Yan suddenly spoke up with a cold voice, ”Something wrong?”

Sure enough, not asleep.

Zhou Yun looked perplexed, ”Huh? Sister Yanyan, what’s wrong?”

Su Yan just snorted and said nothing more, falling back into silence.

Zhou Yun helplessly smiled, turned his head to look out the window, and only then the smile in his eyes faded.

Upon arriving at the place for dinner, everyone sat around a large table. The director and photographers were all ready, with a crowd standing in the space in front of the table, yet only the artists were visible in the camera’s frame.

Su Yan looked like she was drooling, saying, ”I’m so hungry, I feel like I could eat a whole cow right now!”

Lew Qingqing immediately said, ”Me too, I’m really starving, director, there aren’t any more tasks, right? Can we just have dinner now?”

The two girls looked eagerly at the camera, their faces pleading.

Pretty girls making such faces always soften people’s hearts.

But why would the director be soft-hearted?

”Of course... there’s a task.”

Su Yan and Lew Qingqing both let out a sigh at the same time, but they didn’t argue.

The men behind them started to complain as well.

”Director, what about affection? Where’s the love for us?”

”I’m not filming anymore, I declare this episode will be my last one.”

”That’s too much!”

...

It’s all an act, all for the show, all for the camera’s effect.

Zhou Yun wasn’t the protagonist, a helpless smile was all that was needed.

Smile beautifully, just be a pretty vase.

”Xiao Yun, come sit next to me,” Lew Qingqing beckoned after taking her seat, ”Come here.”

Zhou Yun then sat next to her.

”Lew Qingqing, did you do that on purpose!” Zhang Haichen suddenly glared, ”I already said I wanted to sit with Xiao Yun this evening!”

Zhou Yun was taken aback, looking at Zhang Haichen, not knowing what to do.

Lew Qingqing smiled triumphantly and said, ”Hmph, don’t come corrupting our innocent Xiao Yun!”

Zhou Yun looked baffled.

Zhang Haichen sighed, facing the camera with a gloomy expression.

Zhou Yun understood, it was all for the variety show effect.

She giggled and hugged Lew Qingqing’s arm.

Su Yan’s expression turned sour upon witnessing this scene, and the look she gave Zhou Yun even carried a hint of disgust.

Of course, that disdain avoided the camera.

Zhou Yun originally didn’t want to get involved in Su Yan’s and Lew Qingqing’s rivalry, but Su Yan’s kick in the afternoon had irked her.

Regardless of how much of Lew Qingqing’s on-camera warmth and closeness towards her was an act, at least Lew Qingqing hadn’t pulled any of that on her.

Zhou Yun was pleased to show sisterly affection for Lew Qingqing, just to infuriate Su Yan.

During the subsequent filming, Zhou Yun and Lew Qingqing were even more cordial, constantly linking arms or giving each other hugs.

They were as affectionate as best friends who had grown up together.
